See a video demo on the GizReader website. (www.gizreader.com) The depth of each richly designed spine tells you whether a book is short, long or in-between. Skim down the pile of books. Reviews:
Masterpiece Collection By: Xavan Tasam - Jan 6, 2010 Version: 1.0.9 Book fans, look no further. The ultimate collection of classic books is here; under the name of Masterpiece Collection. This app is not only chock-full of books to read (for a fantastic price), it's also simply beautiful.Masterpiece Collection is, as you might have guessed, a book app. It has 20+ amazing classics, all unabridged and complete (even the enormous David Copperfield). The collection includes several Sherlock Holmes adventures, including Hounds of the Baskervilles. Fans of Jules Verne can indulge in Around the World in 80 Days. Even romance fans will find their share of great books.Alas, but there are a couple strange ommissions I expect will be available later on in updates. There is no Lord of the Rings to be found; nor The Princess Bride. However, there is plenty here to keep you satisfied. The app is only further glorified by it's beautiful interface. As soon as you open it, you're greeted by a stack of books, all with creatively designed book bindings displaying the title of each book. Tap one to pull it out of the stack and begin reading. You can also push a small icon to bring up a table of contents, so you can easily jump to a chapter. Turning the page is even a pleasure; just swipe like you're really turning the page. The app animates simply and smoothly, and there are very little stutters. As an extra useful feature, the app saves your page on every single book automatically. There is no reason to not get this app, except if you don't like reading. There are so many books, all of which are classics that you must read before you die. And for only $.99, the price of admission is but a trifle for the amount of literature you get to read.-Xavan
A great app! By: laural55 - Dec 27, 2009 Version: 1.0.9 Wonderful books, and I love the page turning effect. It would be nice if you could see what page number each chapter starts on so you know how much you have left to read. I know the font size probably plays in, but I would think with only 3 font sizes that wouldn't be too complicated. Also when you open the app, it would be nice to have the option to go to the last page you were reading instead of opening up to the list of books. Otherwise, no complaints!
Excellent By: Poodle Mommy - Dec 2, 2009 Version: 1.0.8 First ebook program I've tried & I love it. The iPhone feels so much more comfortable in my hand and the backlit print is easy on the eyes. I can read in the dark!Simple interface, easy to use. No bugs, zero problems. Love page turn feature.Great price, great selection that everyone should read.Only request: add a title page that includes the copywright date. I have to look up title on wikapedia to find out when the book was written.Otherwise, Thanks for an excellent 5 star product!
Perhaps the best 99 cents I've ever spent! By: TryingOutApps - Nov 25, 2009 Version: 1.0.8 This app is exactly what I was looking for as a new-to-ebook consumer--and it's finally convinced me that ereaders are here to stay. I'd previously been one of those "I'll never use an ereader!" book lovers, but this app has won me over completely. Page color (off-white) and font are very attractive. Text and chapter breaks are nicely preserved. You get your choice of page-turn methods. But best of all, I can carry Jane Austen, Arthur Conan Doyle, Bronte, Dickens, Alcott and more all in my pocket and call up these old friends in a moment! Thank you, app developers--I love my virtual bookshelf!
Without Question 5-Star App! By: Bob 76059 - Nov 16, 2009 Version: 1.0.8 As a practitioner of what I call my AHAB Rule (Always Have A Book), I often appreciate the convenience, as others have mentioned, to be able to read a few pages while waiting in a line, or at the airport, on a flight, or almost anywhere, with ease. The list of books offered here (now 35) continues to grow -- and these are, indeed, classics. Why haven't I read David Copperfield before? No matter -- I'm reading it now. Very user-friendly. I love the subtle sound while turning each page, and when I return to the book, this app takes me right to the page where I left off. This is just a great app for any reader -- not to mention that it's some 200 times less expensive than Kindle.
In awe By: CodeNameConan - Nov 3, 2009 Version: 1.0.7 How is it that this app is only $.99? The interface is crisp, clean and attractive not to mention the fact that there are over a dozen, unabridged classic novels. Everyone should take advantage of this wonderful deal! Props to the designers for putting this together and making it available fir such a low price. To the person who wanted modern books, don't hold your breath. The reason all of these books are on here is because they are all now considered public domain and the copyright does not belong to any one publishing company.
This is fantastic By: sanookbkk - Nov 2, 2009 Version: 1.0.7 I love this app. I also love that I can choose a larger font size for these aging eyes. If you are considering this app, have a look at the website. That's exactly what you get. It's fantastic. For 99 cents you can have all these books in your pocket. Wow. Many of these books are books I've always said I will read someday, but never have. Now, they are with me all the time. I will read them. I can't wait to see what books get added.
Excellent Work By: Browncoat12 - Oct 20, 2009 Version: 1.0.7 Not only will my eyes thank me after reading off the tiny ipod touch screen, they will rejoice in finding that my space is marked and if I leave the app, I won't have to flip all the way back to the page. Thank you--I've been wanting to read half of these books, and I am halfway through Tarzan right now and I am loving it. The page flipping is so natural, I almost reached for the corner of the ipod to turn the page.
Choose this perfect app By: Dacin - Oct 18, 2009 Version: 1.0.7 I have no complaints with this app. I love the stack of books with the nicely designed covers. It is easy to manuver and I love the sound of the turning pages. The designers of this app did a great job. Is it a real book?..no.. but when I am sitting in a waiting room and didn't bring a book I go right to this app. And now I am reading those classics that I always meant to. If you are deciding between the other "Classics" app and this one... go for this!
Great book reader! By: gingermints - Jul 6, 2009 Version: 1.0.1 I'm so happy with this app! The 3-D page turn is very fun and realistic. Nice, simple interface. I also like your selection of books, especially the Agatha Christie murder mystery - hope you add more of these. Just one suggestion for a future update...put a settings screen in the app so that you can change font size without having to quit and go to your iPhone settings. Other than that, nice work - thank you!

Beautiful! By: BelleZora - Jan 13, 2010 Version: 1.0.9 I love this app's graphics. My only quibble is that I require a font larger than even the large size available in the iPhone settings. I've become used to not needing reading glasses, but they are necessary for this app...not an issue for most people. Otherwise this is my favorite book app.Other reviewers have requested books still under copyright. You're going to have to pay for those, folks. These are public domain books. You're paying (almost nothing) for the technology only.
Love it By: Upshotmatt - Jan 11, 2010 Version: 1.0.9 This app has allowed me to read novels that I would probably never have purchased or taken out of the library, but have always been meaning to read. The font size can be changed and the page flip is great. One of my favorite apps.
Nicely Done By: Dtking_ 9 - Jan 10, 2010 Version: 1.0.9 It is a very nice application. Good animation and selection. The only thing I would very much like to see in an update is the Lord of the Rings, A Christmas Carol, and To Kill a Mockingbird. These are definately a must.
great! By: i or me - Jan 9, 2010 Version: 1.0.9 i would like to see: grapes of wrath, the lord of ther rings, to kill a mockingbird, the legend of sleepy hollow, and a christmas carol. but great anyway and great graphics!
