This app is great! It allows you to listen to thousands of great books, and there really is something for everyone.Admittedly, a few of the voices drone on a bit, but this isn't such an issue as it is made out to be-besides, if it bothers you that much you can just delete it and as it is free, you won't lose anything.If you love this app like I do and want to listen to books without wifi, I reccomend the full version of this app, which at the moment is only 59p.

This is really good!! I am so happy because in my language arts class we are learning about the odyssey and we had to read the book. So I looked it up on this app and it was there. So instead of me reading it I just have to listen to it. You should get this app because it has really old classical books and for mostly when u get in high school they make u read classics. And so far all the books I needed to read were on here yay!

I really like this app! It does what its supposed to do and its free! I listen to books whike driving to work streaming them over 3G network with no problems! Love it! Hard to believe this is a free app! There are a ton of good books to choose from and classics everyone can enjoy. Automatic bookmarking and library are fantastic features! It could use some improvement though and here are some of my suggestions: allow user to select a chapter through a chapter menu; allow user to select exactly what second to play by scrolling seconds back and forth like the iPod. With improvements like those and minor crash fixes, this could be a 5 star app in my opinion, but as it is, I think it deserves a solid 4 stars and it's one of my favorite apps right now!

It amazes me that this app doesn't have a higher average score. It is an amazing collection of classics read by real humans. There are not going to be many modern texts, of course, as they are still under copyright and could not be freely distributed like this. Duh. My minor suggestions for improvement would be the ability to download a book without it starting to play right away. That's a small beef, though, as you can always simply start it over, but I enjoy perusing. Also, categories of texts would be a great improvement. Overall, though, this is an amazing app and a testament to the volunteers that put this content together. Bravo.

It may not have all the popular, new tiles, but that's because those authors ARE trying to make money... so those complaining that Twilight isn't on here for free need a reality check, stop whining, and just go to the library if you're that cheap. The voices are clear and sound pleasant and classics I have been wanting to re-read, or ones I havent yet, I can enjoy while working out or cleaning the house. It's great!! Hasn't crashed once :)

What a fantastic app and for free, what more could you ask for! I'm very impressed and I'm so glad I downloaded this, don't let the other reviews put u off for giving it ago. I downloaded it this morning and have been listening to "the grims fairy tales" and i'm really enjoying it. I think all the speakers are American but they read well and it's nice and clear. What a great idea and I thank all the readers so much. It's just perfect for me as I'm bedbound and very ill, I'm too ill to read and very light sensitive so need lots of audio books to listen too. U have so many choices and it's all free. I'm very happy And I highly recommend this app!

Excellent selection of fine classics

This is a good FREE app of standard classics. For all those that complain about lack of newer selections: you would have to pay for that as the publishers would want their cut, hence no Tolkien or Rowling, etc. It would be illegal if they were on here. As for the narrators, they are not professionals but suit their purposes; and as a purchaser of other audio books I can vouch that just because you pay over $20.00 for an audiobook, it does not gurantee someone fantastic. At least if you encounter someone you don't like, at least you didn't PAY to hear them. All in all, a fine app that I recommend!

Wow for FREE?!?!?!?! This a terrific app, it's super easy to use and you can search by title or author. The surprise me tab is great also, it has introduced me to titles I would never have found. The only thing I can think if that I would like to see is the ability to move the books around in my library instead of them being in the order I downloaded them. Everything else is perfect, keep up the great work! A+A+A+

The best app I've ever used!!!!! Hours of classic childrens literature at my fingertips, from Bible stories and fairy tales, to The Wizard Of Oz, Huck Fin, and Robinson Crusoe!!!! It's amazing, I have been looking for all these stories individually, and now I have them all in one app. And "children" is only ONE genre of many contained in this app. I couldn't brag on this enough, I am recommending this app to all my friends!!

I had a big problem when I first downloaded with the fact it was only a streaming program. Thats ok. Most people have wifi locations they can access for free. It would be nice if it had built in download options but you can download all the audiobooks free from their site as mp3s or oggs. I just downloaded 4 complete books for free and am gettin ready 2 sync them to ipod. Overall its a great program! Only change I would make if not going to have built in download option would be to have a select from folder ability instead of having to use the standard music player bc the Resume feature in this free app is awesome. Great APP

Easy and Excellent Audiobook App

I just downloaded a copy of this application and it is great. With a wide collection of public domain readings, this is a wonderful app for audiobook listening. The interface is intuitive and it allows you to download and store your books for offline listening. This seems key. High school and university students will find this especially useful. Why buy Thoreau's Walden for an English literature course when you can listen to the audiobook free of charge? A very fine app.

An almost endless list of Reading covering a huge amount of the worlds "classics" and more. The app and the books are free, what's more you can simply put your headphones in and listen rather than straining your eyes squinting at the screen. If you like literature or would like to get acquainted with some great storys this app is for you. (ok the guy who reads some of them is a bit dull to listen too ... But so what)

After reading some of the reviews panning this app for various and sundry reasons I uploaded and it is terrific. The audio is clear with various narrators. All books are in public domain and many are some of the great books of literature. As we are fast becoming a nation of illiterates with subpar mentality it is wonderful to have this at one's fingertips. You can listen to a book while relaxing and entertain vivid imagery with this app or if you are interested in reading the great books I strongly recommend Stanza, another free app. Whatever your fancy iTunes has it for your pc or iPhone. Kudos!

I unlike other people downloaded this version of the app and not the older version. I found it great! It was easy to use although a download option would have been nice. However, I have now bought the download version which was only 59p. The American and Australian accents can drawl, but on the whole, not too bad. Bear in mind that all books are from Librivox and are by volunteers! Some books have chapters read by different people.

I believe that this app is awsome. I think it would be nice if you could listen 2 it when exiting the app like music so u could read along with a downloaded book. I think it's a great app for calming yourself to sleep and for the people who I call twilight obssessed, ur being stupid. The series is lame and it's not like it's a clasic either if you want a good read try the original vampiric story of DRACULA

This is one of the best app a book lover could download...it has a great great selection...& most of all its FREE...thanks...& those ppl who are complaining about 'Twilight' not being on the list grow up...they offer the classics that you need to read @ some point in your life...do you actually think that ppl will still rave about 'Twilight' & would be considered a classic years from now...ummm I don't think so...
