Reviews:
Great app! By: Kiefer's mom - Sep 4, 2010 Version: 2.02 Love this app, it works surprisingly well. It DOES need to have a more detailed user reference, though. Major kudos to Melisa Henry for the suggestion to log off and back on. DUH! Solved my issues. Love the nook, and love that I can continue my reading on my iPhone when I am standing in line somewhere, eating lunch by myself, or waiting for the doctor to show up in the room I've been sitting in for 15 minutes. Great job B&N!
No problems for this book lover By: Reading GG - Aug 25, 2010 Version: 2.01 I dearly love the Nook app. I have not experienced any of the syncing or crashing issues. I have it installed in my iPhone 3GS and my iPad. I download books from either device and they always show on both devices. I read my book on whichever drive is handy and whichever book I choose on either drive always opens right where I left off. I love this app. Only thing that would make it better would be if the book could be read to you like an audiobook.
Fantastic App! By: 0xCAFEBABE - Oct 5, 2010 Version: 2.1 I alternate between my iPad and my iPhone. It is easy to set text attributes so my book is readable on the phone and I read every day on the subway on my commute. Sync works as well as can be expected, given that I sometimes start reading while underground and cannot get last reading position from the cloud. New purchases show up right away and Lend Me works great. Don't let Kindle/iBooks fan-boys put you off with bogus reviews - this app is GREAT!
Nook update By: BecMac - Aug 30, 2010 Version: 2.01 I hesitated syncing the update to my phone when it first came out until I read some of the reviews that said if you remove the app and reinstall it from itunes all the books would re-appear and all would be well with the world. I finally did it and it is true. At first all the books were gone, then I calmly did as the others said and back they were. I love being able to read a few pages here and there when I am sitting in the Dr.'s office waiting for my appointment. It is quiet and beats some of the old magazines they have, plus I have become a book reader once again. Thanks for sharing your experiences. It helped me avoid some major anxiety.
Updates can't fix user errors By: Lojikul - Aug 26, 2010 Version: 2.01 I see a lot of people complaining about ebooks not opening or saving places. I haven't had these problems but suggest an alternative culprit. User error. This reader, after the update, is the best app for books.I recommend this if you have problems getting the app on the iPhone to open your books or work properly:1. Delete the app altogether and redownload it2. Sign back into or create an account3. ReadIf that doesn't work, give yourself a smack!
Okay, it is getting better By: gn8811 - Aug 25, 2010 Version: 2.01 My original review for the update was extremely negative (see below). Then I read a review that suggested going into settings and setting the Sign-out Next Launch option to ON. Once I did that, my books refreshed, current place in my books were retained (after moving to my current page), and the integrated dictionary finally appeared. Hurray! Can't comment on all features as yet, but it looks like my "pain points" have been resolved.Original review:I was happy to see an update for the Nook app, hoping that it would address the laundry list of problems (e.g. losing my place in books, losing books altogether, no integrated dictionary, etc). When I started the app, the last book I was attempting to read opened up - a promising sign, even though it opened at the cover page. I located my current page in the book and then closed the book in order to test if Nook would remember my place. However, when the app took me to the bookshelf, all my books were gone (gee, what a surprise). Numerous refreshes failed to bring down any books. So, in reality, this version is worse than the original version I had. Thank God I still have the old B&N ebook reader - far superior to this Nook piece of crap and preferable (for me) than the Kindle app. I sympathize with those of you that either deleted the old B&N reader or were not lucky enough to grab it before it was removed from the App Store. I prefer shopping with B&N, but I see that Borders has an e-book app and I may have to take my business to them if the Nook app does not get fixed. I cannot believe that B&N would even offer such a pitiful app, especially when they had the B&N reader working so nicely. Question for B&N: do your app developers do any testing?I'd rate this 0 stars if I could since this is a worthless app.
Nook library fix???? By: bchrist3 - Aug 25, 2010 Version: 2.01 Initially had same problem(s) with library missing. When my iTunes and device were connected together, selected the "APPS" tab on my device. Found Nook app listing. Deselected the nook app. (Removed the checkmark). "Apply" and synced the device to remove the app from my device (only). When finished with that step, went back to the Apps listing, rechecked the box for the nook app, applied and ran the sync again. Updated version was there, but, however, I had to sign in again to bn.com ( to reestablish my account) to get my e-library downloaded. Depending on amounts of books, this could take time to download
Excellent Reader By: Ev in Long Beach - Aug 23, 2010 Version: 2.0 A good reader with extensive customization options. Especially great as a first issue. Can only get better with feedback. Plus: Connects with BN to find books you have on old BN Reader with option to download. Easy to set foreground/background colors and text. Can set margin width and line spacing. Can make notes. Probably more I haven't explored yet. Suggestions for improvement:Would like another margin choice between current choices. Would like more font size choices (maybe pinch to change?). Would like a way to see the time and battery state without leaving the app. I've experienced none of the reported problems. Running 3GS/32GB with OS 4.0.2
Works great By: vivCDG - Aug 20, 2010 Version: 2.0 I'm on an iP4 running 4.0.2 and this app works great. I agree they need to put in an orientation lock but until they do, people can use the Portrait Orientation Lock on their device. Haven't crashed on me yet but I do have a nook so I have a b&n account already. Books I've bought in the past downloaded fast and take up less space than the old BN e-reader. I don't know what people mean when they complain about margins. You can change the margins. Yes, I feel the font size jump is a bit too much, would be nice if they offered a middle ground. Overall, I like this app. If you have a nook or a b&n account already, consider this an extension. I'm giving it 4 stars because of no orientation lock.
Far better than iBooks IMO almost as good as the old BN eReader. By: Kay504 - Oct 10, 2010 Version: 2.1 I like the app because I can choose to know how far along I am in the book with a tap. I like the way I can change the colors. I like the bookmarking and highlighting. I love being able to lend within the app. I miss the orientation lock, option to scroll, and ability to see the clock. I want to be able to create my own folders or sort books with my own groupings instead of author, rating, title and recent.

Improvement over Barnes & Noble Reader! By: kalamitykatie - Aug 18, 2010 Version: 2.0 The Nook app is a great improvement over the old app for reading ebooks from your Barnes & Noble library. Among the improvements is one I've suggested/requested in previous reviews -- the ability to adjust screen brightness within the app (instead of exiting to the device settings). Another new feature is the ability to sync your book progress with all devices on which you have Nook installed and Internet connectivity (Nook device with wi-fi, iPhone/Touch/Pad, Droid, Blackberry, computer, etc.). So far that feature is testing well between my iTouch and my Droid phone. I find the user interface to be far more intuitive and user friendly than the old app -- one screen displays both downloaded and downloadable books, appropriately labeled, and the shop button. Fewer taps to get where you want to be -- elegant in its simplicity. One more minor improvement -- samples and lendable books are labeled as such.My experience accessing my library and the novel I had in progress has been seemless (unlike other reviewers). I'm not sure why my experience has been so different from other reviewers (different iOS on iTouch/Phone/Pad perhaps) but my experience has been completely positive.
Good but needs improvement By: jmartcougar - Aug 18, 2010 Version: 2.0 I have a nook and this is a good app to catch up on my reading when on the go however its a little buggy crashes when I try to open a book. The UI is very clean minimal nice. My only complaint is it doesnt allow me to see My Document books like PDF and EPUB books only books bought from BN. Please add this feature and the app would be great. Also add a fonts feature or resize text... I think its too small.
Working great so far By: vivCDG - Aug 18, 2010 Version: 2.0 I'm on an iP4 running 4.0.2 and this app works great, no crashes or freezes and I've been using if heavily for 3 days. It seems to take up less storage than the BN e-reader. The same 4 books downloaded on my device in Nook leaves me with more free space than the BN e-reader. The margins work fine for me, the best part is the option to use Publisher's Settings under fonts. I'm giving it 4 stars until they include an orientation option. I'm bypassing that inconvenience by setting my iP4 to Portrait Orientation Locked. Otherwise I like it.
ALMOST THERE, BUT A STEP BACKWARDS TOO By: juliusa - Aug 18, 2010 Version: 2.0 This is really not that bad once you learn it. It IS different in some ways from EReader app, so you need to learn it's differences. That said, it does tend to crash now and then, but for some reason after some use that stops. Have had trouble loading the book covers, does not always render them entirely, but the reading experience has been fine and ,for now, workable. Books load FASTER, pages turn quickly, font easy to read. Fine on the iPhone 3GS. I am sure more will come, but if you are worried just use EReader app for now. Overall, though, a decent start. Why do I say BACKWARD STEP? EReader, long in the making by Fictionwise (way before iPhone existed), was the grand-daddy of these types of apps (remember Peanut Press?)...so it was well thought out, enhanced time after time, and near perfect (like Stanza). This is more basic, and I would assume because it is a RE-BRAND, is going in a slightly different direction. It is fine for reading books, though, so why complain? Let's all see what B&N does with it, then make complaints!

Simple and Powerful By: Lojikul - Aug 17, 2010 Version: 2.0 All my books from nook showed up right away. I like that it's simple and allows easy word look up and note taking. Best ereader app out.
Great Highlighting Features By: eBook Guy - Aug 17, 2010 Version: 2.0 I'm hooked highlighting and using the dictionary and wikipedia while I read
This is not a major update. By: Mel823 - Sep 4, 2010 Version: 2.02 The point of this update was to just fix the bugs from the last update. If you're still having problems just sign out and sign back in. If you don't know how to do that just tap the word NOOK and that will bring you to sign in screen. Sign out, and then sign back in and that should fix the problem.
Excellent By: Morganis - Aug 17, 2010 Version: 2.0 Love the design and feel of this app.
Love it! By: Tlugs - Aug 17, 2010 Version: 2.0 It immediately picked up my library from my actual nook (purchases only not sideloaded books). Looks great and feels great, only update I would ask for is page turning animation, otherwise I found a way to extend the use of my already awesome Nook.
