Best Bible Reader There is!  rating of BibleReader
By: JC Loves U - Apr 9, 2009
Version: 4.06
This is easy to use and and navigate from one book to another. I often jump from one book to another every Sunday at church. The split screen comes in handy for cross reference. There are so many bible versions you can download for free and also many other books for reference. I like all the options it gives you from the fonts you use, and the colors of fonts, backgrounds, highlights, etc. Please check this out before you go and look at others. I deleted the other bible readers after I used this one by Olive Tree....

Thank you for providing this for FREE  rating of BibleReader

I want to thank all the people and organizations that provide free Apps for all of us to enjoy. It is a shame that many of you are so ungrateful for the Free App that you have to complain and nit pick "this is what I want", "I think it should do this", and my favorite "I've reserved 1+1+1 and will give them to you when I get what I want" and wants it for free no less. If you want all those features, then BUY the full version. Otherwise, simply say THANK YOU to all those who give these "Lite" versions away for free.
I would love to see more people giving the APP providers that give these away free a break. If you want to hold your "stars" "hostage" until you get what you want, then develop the APP yourself and lets see you give it away for free. I bet that'll never happen.

What a great App! Now I can carry my KJV with me wherever I go and it's always available if I need help. Very easy to read, and so easy to carry. I haven't yet used this for all the research etc, but it has given me a goal to read from Genesis right through Revelation for the first complete read. Anywhere I have to wait I can pull it out and read and then bookmark where I finished and start again the next time I need to wait. Much better than getting impatient - now I look forward to my waiting times. Thank you Olive Tree.

Exceptional dedication to Biblical scholarship  rating of BibleReader

OliveTree translations and research materials are expensive when compared to discounted print versions, however OliveTree shows clear intent to provide a quality reader / search engine along with a broad selection of materials that distinguishes it from all other mobile publishers. It looks like they will maintain a wide lead over other publishers for anyone who wants to read and consider translation of Greek & Hebrew words beyond what the free versions contain. Plus the search engine is very strong and useful.

Excellent app, but could use more Catholic titles  rating of BibleReader
By: Soap2k6 - Oct 16, 2009
Version: 4.08
This app is very well designed, especially in its use of links between reference works and the various versions of the Bible. (My own experience is with "Reading Romans" by Luke Timothy Johnson.) Every biblical reference is a hyperlink which pops up a scrollable balloon which in turn can be enlarged to full screen. If you have more than one Bible, it opens up the last one you used -- it's easy to change this on the fly. Notes in the Bible (such as alternative translations) work the other way - you click on the reference link, and the reference appears in a balloon.
Navigation within a text can be switched between the standard iPhone scrolling and page-at-a-time scrolling. Both orientations of the iPhone are supported. The latest version includes the ability to add bookmarks and take notes. Bible verses can be copied (OS 3.0), but sections of reference works cannot (at least not the one I'm reading). Note that you access the table of contents of a reference work using the "Verse" button in the upper-right-hand corner.
I would like to see more Catholic texts available, including the "Common Edition" of the RSV or, even better, the Ignatius Bible; the Jerusalem and/or New Jerusalem Bibles; the Catechism of the Catholic Church; and -- if Olive Tree were feeling particularly heroic -- the Companion to the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Deuterocanonical books ("apocryphal" to our Protestant friends) should be included in all translations if they are available.

Continuously Adding Features ...  rating of BibleReader
By: richimages - Oct 16, 2009
Version: 4.08
This reader is fantastic. I can finally use my favorite Bible translation with my favorite reference note set, ( or intuitively access other versions with other notes against the reference I'm currently reading ). Eventhough I've only been using Olive Tree a short time ( one month ), I can see that they are always adding new features. Since my original purchase, they've added a Popup Window to the core reader. The newer reader was flawlessly installed, and my original purchased libraries were quickly added without repurchasing. Olive Tree has demonstrated that they listen to users' requests when adding features ... multiple screens will be a nice addition to the Popup Window for quickly reading references.
I also have Mantis ... I could go into detailed explaination ... but I like Olive Tree by far ... although Mantis is good software as well. I feel that many of the earlier comments about Mantis being better than Olive Tree are Dated Comments. I challenge anyone to compare recent comments to recent comments ( ALWAYS ) to get a better feel before making a purchase. I.e. a year from now, I might have to re-evaluate. Currently Olive Tree seems by far the best software for using multiple translations with multiple references ... many of which are free ( ASV, MKJV, Matthew Henry Commentary, NET translation with limited notes, etc ... as well as classics by Torrey, Bounds, Bunyan, Spurgeon, Piper, Josephus, etc ... ) To be fair, however, I am still waiting for some free Mantis 4.0 reader to see how it works with my existing purchases there ... I first bought Mantis, and will probably follow the two readers closely as long as existing purchases will work in core readers.

Best Bible on iPhone, with only one small feature missing  rating of BibleReader
By: rickyfrost - Oct 14, 2009
Version: 4.08
I've used Olive Tree since ~2004 on Treo650, WM 8525, and now iPhone. Along the way I've tried others and nothing compares with the features, speed, book selection, and responsiveness of the dev team. I'm just a thankful customer, and probably will always be because they're always on top of their game.
The only thing I would add feature wise is a full-screen mode similar to Mantis (which I've also tried). I especially like the double-tap toggle.
Other than that, "two thumbs up!" Keep up the good work folks.

Best IPhone Bible Software  rating of BibleReader
By: MichiganMurf - Oct 6, 2009
Version: 4.08
I've been using Olive Tree Bible Software for a decade on 3 different software platforms. Their product and support is the best by far (IMHO). There are some comments that you cannot use products you've previously bought which needs some explanation. Olive Tree is continually developing their IPhone version and everything will eventually work, they just can't do it all at once. Anything you've already bought will work (and you won't have to pay for it again) when they program that particular resource for IPhone. Just takes a little patience. Their Greek and Hebrew fonts and the way they are rendered on the iPhone are fantastic. The parsed versions aren't available yet, but will be eventually. They now have both popup windows (for NASB with Strongs, which I already had on a previous software platform so I did NOT have to buy it again, cool!) and a split screen for two versions at once or a bible and commentary or notes. Great piece of software and no I do not work for Olive Tree, just love the product and have used it for years.

Good Bible Reader from Outstanding Company. Olivetree Just Keeps Improving.  rating of BibleReader
By: GTD Meister - Sep 7, 2009
Version: 4.08
I have used Olivetree Bible products for 9 years on the Palm platform, and now on a iPod Touch. The iPod Touch/iPhone reader is yet not as robust as that for the Palm, but rest assured that Olivetree will continue to add functionality to what is already a good Bible reader.
This company has an outstanding selection, much of which has already been ported over to the iPod platform (and TONS of FREE Bible versions and material. The prices for copyrighted versions can't be beat, I mean, $4.99 for the NKJV?!??!! Great selection of academic resources, Greek, Hebrew, etc.
Look no further, Olivetree has been a great partner in handheld Bible resources and I unhesitatingly recommend it and its products.

Best Reader, Best Value  rating of BibleReader
By: MR in Frisco,TX - Jan 28, 2009

I have been using Olive Tree's Bible reader on my Palm devices for several years. As I have purchased new devices, I have always been able to get the versions I purchased on my new device without paying again. Now Olive Tree has opened this up for iPhone users. I love this Bible Reader on my iPhone. I now have all my favorite translations (NIV, NLT, The Message, etc). The reader works well, and it is easy to add bookmarks and really use this Bible reader.
Great job Olive Tree! Thank You.

HERE'S THE CLINCHER! ... The ability to purchase the entire John MacArthur NT Commentary set and have it on your iPhone! SWEET!! 4. Many other great Bibles and resources available for purchase to add to the BibleReader app! Made MY day!

Excellent software and support  rating of BibleReader
By: dspeers - Jan 19, 2009
Version: 4.04
I have used Olive Tree since the early Palms and also with PPC. They are a great company. They work hard to give their customers the best products for the money. The same is true for the iPhone. This program is quick, compared to the other readers and clearly laid out etc. Their resources are growing, and while some of them are available, cheaper, the support just does not exist. The fact that you have access to the products you bought with previous platforms, eg GNT or NKJV etc is just great. Thanks to Olive Tree for a great product.

Great products  rating of BibleReader
By: Dr. H. Wayne House - Jan 17, 2009

I have used Olive Tree software for several years and have been pleased by their diligent efforts to provide quality and easy to use products on PDAs and Phones. I use the iPhone and got the latest Hebrew and Greek files this past November at SBL in Boston and the updated Bible Reader. I was amazed at the clarity of the Hebrew and Greek fonts of the biblical texts on my iPhone. It is easier to read these than my Hebrew and Greek Bible. I can hardly wait for the next stage in which we have parsing for the original texts. This will be very helpful for those who don't remember the meanings of all the Hebrew and Greek words in the OT & NT (most of us). They continue to improve their software products, including Bible translations, Hebrew and Greek texts, theology, etc.. I commend them for a great job and recommend them to all of my students, colleagues and friends. Five stars for Olive Tree.

If you want a free dinky little Bible reader, get something else. If you want the most powerful iPhone Bible software platform out there, get Olive Tree's BibleReader. Get the free reader and then add the Bibles & Books you want from their web-site. They are always improving and updating, and now even Greek & Hebrew (PTL) and I'm sure parsing morphology in the near future. I've used OliveTree for years on phones and PocketPCs, but this is now the best on iPhone, hands down. Get the ESV Study Bible - it rocks! 1Lord.org

Fastest bible search  rating of BibleReader
By: rhodyray - Dec 19, 2008
Version: 4.03.025
BibleReader is a great program for being free. If you don't have your bible in church and want to look up scriptures quick--this program is the one. Love the search feature--Books, chapter and then verse search. Nice work. Just need to add KJV, NKJV at the very least! Christ words in RED is a plus too! The ability to keep bookmarks in alphabetical order would be nice too. Perhaps chapter headings ?? Overall great job for a free application. You can at least find where you want to go fast.

I now look for time to read  rating of BibleReader
By: muecker - Jul 16, 2009
Version: 4.07
When I first got Bible Reader I liked having multiple translations at my fingertips. I found myself reading enough that I bought the ESV Study Bible and now use it as my primary Bible.I find myself looking for time to read like never before. I typically read during lunch at work, it is convenient having a complete Bible in my pocket. I haven't pulled out my huge old study Bible in months.Like others I would like to see the ability to add my own notes. Otherwise this is a complete program. The split screen means you can use it with study notes or as a parallel Bible to compare translations. If you prefer one translation you can still carry another for Bible studies so you can follow along. You can return to a bookmark and pick up where you were last reading.

Olive Tree wins for user friendly policies  rating of BibleReader
By: Minikin - Dec 10, 2008

I used Olive Tree back when I had a Treo. When the reader software first came out for the iPhone, it was structured into bundles. The NLT version wasn't available yet, so I waited. Today I was pleased to see that not only is the NLT now available, but Olive Tree has extended the library feature cross-platform. I knew about this kind feature from when I had to do a full system restore on the old Treo: if you've bought a title, it's yours. A second download did not mean shelling out another fee. But I was surprised to see that I could download the NLT again for my iPhone, with no additional fee. Thank you Olive Tree!
