Comixology: The Image Comics Edition  rating of Image Comics
By: tmoudry - Sep 26, 2010
Version: 1.0
I've reviewed the Comicxology, DC, and Marvel apps, but the Image version gets one more star because it offers "trade paperbacks" of Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead. I don't mind paying $1.99 for digital single issues, but, like most people, I'd rather pay 99¢ since they're likely things I'm "test-driving" before picking up a trade paperback or hardcover collection. I would much rather have "digital trade paperbacks" on my iPad than scads and scads of single issues, and I applaud Image Comics for taking that step. DC Comics made a digital version of their huge 2010 Comicon sampler available for free, and that was a step in the right direction, but not quite enough. I'm not a Spawn fan, but it is odd that the title that was once Image Comics' flagship isn't available through this app. Still, this app is a great one.

A great app for comic readers on the go  rating of Image Comics

Fantastic! I'm an image fan and love the series Invincible (actually love all Robert Kirkman stuff but hey i digress) and was very excited to find that i could read the latest issues without having to go to the comic shop. The panels are easy to read and move pretty seemless. I use it on my ipod touch and i haven't found any problems. If the text does seem a little small you can zoom in to get a better look.Image is awesome

How can you rate this one star for the lack of spawn? Most comic publishers still want you to buy a hard copy, but it's nice of them to provide the digital option - it's not required. Perhaps you should broaden your horizon though and check out the best comics image has to offer like The Walking Dead and Invincible, one of the best superhero stories in ages. Anything Kirkman is gold! This is just like all of the other comics apps only it provides great original material.

The Walking Dead - Where are the rest of the volumes?  rating of Image Comics
By: LS1Z28Chris - Sep 4, 2010

It seems like most of the reviewers here downloaded this app for Spawn. I downloaded it for The Walking Dead. So far it is a great app. Like the Marvel app, you cannot really view one page at a time on the iPad without pinching and scanning. The cool thing, though, is that the zoomed in frame by frame feature seems nicer in this Image app than the one in the Marvel app, so the comics are pretty fun to read.I am disappointed about one thing, though. Ever since financial hardship a few years ago forced me to sell my original first runs of the #1 - #15 or so of The Walking Dead, I've been aching to get a hold of volumes in hard print. After all, I have a lot of catching up to do. So when I happened upon this app I was really excited, but that excitement has begun to wane. The problem? They only have volumes 1, 2, 3, and 4 of The Walking Dead for purchase as entire volumes. Sure, you can buy up #25 - #71 individually, but that is a waste of money and time. There is no reason why every volume out in hard copy cannot be available to purchase as volumes in this app.I'm going to sign up for the series notification thing inside of this app in the hopes that the other volumes will be forthcoming. If not, I think Image are going to lose out on a significant amount of income from this zombie nerd.

Love to see the comic industry finally jump into the digital era. This app, just like the Marvel comics one is just a publisher centric version of comiXology. If you seen that then you know this. The reader and free issue #1 formulas are all here.As of this writing, their selection is a bit limited with many titles missing. The most recent issue I found was published in April, not sure if they plan to catch up or if they plan to keep a 4 month lag between print and digital.Pricing is also a bit off, every issue regardless of age seems listed for $1.99, a great price for newer stuff but overpriced for year old content and insane for 2+ year old issues. As it stands, you better be willing to spend a lot of money if you get hooked on anything with considerable amounts off back issues. 3 years worth of comics can easily set you back 70 bucks. That being told it's a great start. Be sure to check out Walking Dead.

This is perfect for the iPad! Altering from page mode to cell mode can be tricky, however this app is great for those who enjoy their image comics on the go, and don't have access to their tactile versions.

This has been a long time coming, and it's great it's finally here. Only thing missing is having the NEWS section that iVerse has in their app. Having something telling me the latest and greatest from Image would be fantastic.

This really is a great app lots and lots of comics and a easy way of viewing and paying for them. I also love the way the comics view in different window sizes ( portrait and landscape). I'm amazed this app isn't scoring more 5's ? Please keep up the hard work I'm a customer that's not going anywhere.

Thank you for bringing CNV to the ipad. It is seriously the best comic out there. It is the most original comic out there. And Riley's art is amazing. You must read this comic.

The Walking Dead! The best comic series to ever be made is now available to iDevice users. Spawn hasn't been that great in a good while. Invincible rocks. All in all a good app.
