Description:
Serial Jack Kilborn and Blake Crouch Hachette Book Group USA May 12, 2009 Remember the twin golden rules of hitchhiking? # 1: Don’t go hitchhiking, because the driver who picks you up could be certifiably crazy. # 2: Don’t pick up hitchhikers, because the traveler you pick up could be raving nutcase. So what if, on some dark, isolated road, Crazy #1 offered a ride to Nutcase #2? When two of the most twisted minds in the world of horror fiction face off, the result is SERIAL, a terrifying tale of hitchhiking gone terribly wrong. Like a deeply twisted version of an “After School Special,” SERIAL is the single most persuasive public service announcement on the hazards of free car rides. Beyond a thrilling piece of horrifying suspense, SERIAL is also a groundbreaking experiment in literary collaboration. Kilborn wrote the first part. Crouch wrote the second. And they wrote the third together over email in 100-word exchanges, not aware of each other’s opening section. All bets were off, and may the best psycho win. The SERIAL eBook contains the novella SERIAL, a Q&A with Kilborn and Crouch, author bibliographies, and excerpts from their most recent and forthcoming works: Kilborn’s Afraid and Crouch’s Abandon. About the Author JACK KILBORN is the author of Afraid, a new horror novel available from Grand Central Publishing. It is also the pen name for award-winning thriller writer JA Konrath, who has published seven novels and dozens of scary short stories. He lives in the suburbs of Chicago, and his website is www.jackkilborn.com. Reviews:
An Interesting Plot By: Hinatell - Jun 13, 2009 Version: 1.03 I'm not one for murder stories or whatever this genre this may be, but I thoroughly enjoyed
The idea behind it was beautiful! And it was short, which could be a positive or negative. I saw it as a positive.
Anyway, I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't get unnessecaily scared (I immediately started fantasizing about me being one of the characters, totally terrifying). Anyway a gruesome death like this could be avoided by not hitchhiking or picking up hitchhikers, which seems like common sense to me but I suppose people might still do it. Heed this warning!
Enjoy!
Amazing job By: Nah! - Nov 18, 2009 Version: 1.03 It has this simple, calm and dark ambient, that when you realize you are reading a very impresive story brought to your mind as art. Note: it's not for everyone, if you are the kind that prefers a magic garden with flowers and all the cliche, I would not recommend it. For those who go further and know how to enjoy true impact of intelligence and appreciate the precise details the author has thought about through all the pages, this is a piece of gold.If one of the characters would have been exposed more to us than the story itself, it would have very probably earned some fans.Still a five stars for the quality mentioned.
Good book By: bigbuddha8 - Sep 26, 2009 Version: 1.03 I only realy wrote this review to tell Nuc17thi and others who give bad reviews based on there own problemsTo write it in the "report a problem" seaction at the bottom of the "info" page. Also I'm sure deleting it and redownloading it would work, unless you are out of space on your iPod/iPhone home screen. If you can't see it but it says it is installed and you are not out of room on your iPod/iPhone Try a restart or try hocking it up to your computer and "transfer purchases"then sync apps.
Amazing By: Midnight_mau - Jul 17, 2009 Version: 1.03 Pretty much, this was an amazing piece of fiction. Although not for young ones, it is truly captivating. For those who stopped reading before the story truly began, you have no idea what you are missing. Although very graphic and somewhat disturbing, it is a page turner that won't let you stop reading until you finished it. Wish it were longer, because it's so amazing you wanna keep reading. Only 18 and above should be reading this, for it's graphic nature, and even If horror is not your cup of tea, try out this app and just be amazed at the impressive story, with a wonderful plot.
OMG...its a book people, not reality By: *~Calypso~* - Jul 16, 2009 Version: 1.03 This short story in my mind is perfection. Exactly the kind of creepy I like adding to the books I write, and in my mind the perfect ending. To those who say it is disturbing get this. Its a short story, fiction. Purely fiction. It's not like it was autobiographical. You should have read the little information on the side, and realized that it would in fact contain some disturbing issues. But it was your fault for not reading it, and not the authors fault for writing it. I think it was brilliant, and it would even be better if it was made into a longer novel. Maybe excluding the ending, and making them work as a team. But overall the short story was top notch. A definete 5 out of 5!!
Wow By: wynacht - Jul 20, 2009 Version: 1.03 I must agree this is not for anyone under 18. This is not as bad as what i thought it was going to be after reading all of the reviews. It's short and put together well. It's crude but I suppose somewhere in this world is pretty real. I feel the writers did a great job telling a story which gives you imagination to what's happing without having to watch a pumped up poor horror film that just doesn't seem real. They did a great job and this app should help sell the other books as well as creep you out! Silence of the lambs..... meet serial in 8000 words. Great job!!!!!
Saweet By: HDmvp41 - Jun 29, 2009 Version: 1.03 This book was great and I usually can't stand reading unless it's good and this was good you guys need to make a new one like what happened and like when the bodies were found that would be baller status. Hope to see another book!!!!
Very good! By: Piano_Girl - Jun 28, 2009 Version: 1.03 This book was very good! It's a shame it's so short though, the writers should team up again to make another book.

Really really really good! By: My nickname is 45 - Dec 13, 2009 Version: 1.03 Short and to the point, violent and graphic - this was a great book! I had never read either author's work before, but I sure will be on the look out for them now. I agree with the last reviewer - get this to Tarantino now!

Superb By: vcotuna - Nov 16, 2009 Version: 1.03 This book was great. I'd like to point out to some people that this is a HORROR book, what do you expect? Unicorns? And to people saying it could have been better, YOU try making your own novels, then complain.
