Description:
The fiercely independent and permanently irreverent Mark Twain is the quintessential American writer. This witty and colorful collection includes: * A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court * A Tramp Abroad * Life on the Mississippi * The Gilded Age * The Innocents Abroad * The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn * The Adventures of Tom Sawyer * The Prince and the Pauper The BeamItDown Books use a very different approach to reading that is absolutely ideal for the screen of the iPhone and iPod Touch. Other reader applications display the text of the book you are reading in individual pages. The number of words that can be displayed on the screen at one time is determined by the size of the font used. This forces you to choose between reading with a very small font size or using a large font and changing pages every few seconds. The problem is that reading with a very small font induces eye strain, while frequent paging disrupts concentration. The BeamItDown iFlow Reader solves this problem by using an entirely new approach to reading. Instead of paging, the BeamItDown iFlow Reader scrolls text much like a teleprompter. Large, easy to read text scrolls by smoothly as you read. The precise scrolling speed is controlled by subtly tilting the device, which quickly becomes very intuitive and natural. You can personalize your reading experience by selecting the paper color, text color, text size, and the font that you prefer to create a truly enjoyable reading experience. Beam it down rocks!! By: bookwirm - Oct 29, 2008 Version: 1.0 First of all - scrolling is the only way to go in terms of reading content on the iphone. It is far superior to paging which most readers have. With the scrolling, you actually forget you are reading on a small screen. Also I forgot how terrific Mark Twain's books are. To have this whole collection for 99 cents available to read whenever I have a few minutes waiting around is great! I am very happy with my purchase!
Awesome app By: THE ZACHSTER - Nov 7, 2008 Version: 1.0 This is an awesome does everything I want it too. I just don't like the auto scrol. Otherwise it's a good app!!!!!

Autoscrolling is great! By: Tad Davis - Nov 14, 2008 Version: 1.0 The autoscrolling is the main thing about this app (although getting so many titles in one package is certainly convenient too). It works very well; it takes only a minute or so for the tilting back and forth to become completely automatic. Being able to control font and font size is an added plus. It's surprising that other readers for iPhone don't offer automatic scrolling.
Huge value By: mightypog - Jul 11, 2009 Version: 2.0.2 All this Mark Twain material for the price is a screaming steal. I like the auto scroll. Makes it so I can read and eat without getting mayo on the phone. Laughed so hard I nearly sprayed soup all over the phone though. Mark Twain kills me!
Bookmark anyone? By: b@@lsofst33l - Aug 29, 2009 Version: 2.2 App is awesome!! It remembers where u last left off. But I still would like to have some kind of placeholder. Maybe I'm just too whiny.
Great reading By: Darren McDarren - 02-Nov-2008 Version: 1.0 I love this reader software - it works well if you are lying down and holding your phone vertically. However, if you are sitting outside there is little you can do about avoiding reflections - you have to hold the phone at eye level. It would be good to be able to calibrate the angle for viewing and the speed yourself. As to the selection of books - amazing value!
Need more control By: Kevin37753 - Jan 11, 2009 Version: 1.0 Ok, I'm not the fastest reader out there, but seriously, I am at least average, and it's no fun to have to "race" the scroller to keep up! I like to have smaller font selected, but this app only understands screen speed, not "lines per minute" speed. Please add a config item that would allow the sensitivity to tilt to be increased, and the scroll speed to go all the way to stopped (even reversed!)If not for that item (which makes it a real hassle to read anything) it would have gotten 5 stars!
I feel taken advantage of. By: MunyaBuddya - Feb 20, 2009 Version: 1.0 I second everything Kevin37753 wrote below. To that I will add that all these books, plus thousands of others, are readily and legally available for free thanks to public domain laws and the guttenberg project. And while Stanza, for instance, may not be the easiest application to figure out at first, it does give you unhindered free access to all those books. True, you will have to use your finger to "flip pages". But unless you are an incredibly fast reader, you would be using your thumb to "scroll" though the eight books on this app anyway.
Not an autoscroll fan By: emmalineadrenaline - Aug 2, 2009 Version: 2.0.2 I just don't read at the same pace - I slow down for dialect, for example, or sometimes go back to a line. But if I turn the tilt control on, I can't sit still enough to keep the pace right. The moment I unthinkingly move a hand, the text is speeding by or grinding to a halt.

A matter of taste By: R'aaahbin - 24-Jul-2009 Version: 2.0.2 I expect it's a matter of taste as to whether or not you like the auto-scrolling mechanism of this book reader. If you do, then it's fine... but to me there was something that didn't feel right about reading a novel from an autocue. In order to read at all naturally, I found I had to keep changing the tilt of the device to change scrolling speed, which meant I ended up concentrating on the process rather than the content. I much prefer readers like Stanza or Eucalyptus which replicate pages and have an efficient page-turning method. Still - plenty of good content in this app, if you like the way it's presented.
Recommended! By: Bookguy1940 - Nov 26, 2008 Version: 1.0 Very cool and a great portable resource for any Twain lover. And who isn't? One gripe: need landscape mode; how about an upgrade please?
