I'm dictating this review of the dragon dictation app. It's a wonderful app. As you can see it's taking down pretty much everything I say without error. After a few minutes of trying this app out, this immediately became a "first page" app for me. I am concerned about the privacy issues with uploading contacts to the developer's server. This needs to be resolved immediately. Now that I'm done dictating I can say that the only edits I made to the dictation were adding apostrophes and quotation marks. A great app!

This is an excellent app. In fact the review that I am writing, which is my first review, has been dictated on dragon dictation. I am so excited about this program as I have been waiting for ways to have dictation with the iPhone & for immediate usable transcribed copy. It is fast and very accurate. Nuance has done an excellent job. Now if they could only do same for Mac Speech by having either a voice recorder or iPhone dictation go to it for use, all my dictation needs would be served.

While this app needs many things, I'm going to rate it 5 stars anyway. Just because what it does do is impressive. Good job guys.  Obviously needs ability to save message drafts into folders so that you can work on them at a later time. As it is now, you can only work on one message at a time and when you close the app - all that text is gone. 

The application's response, accuracy, & speed make this an awesome app. It even picks up curse words, however, it places a "*" in the middle of the word to edit it. The app also has a few editing features like - suggested wird replacement & the sbility to use the keyboard if necessary. The abiity to also export the text to SMS, really makes this app a winner. The only real issue I ran into was the inability to literally spell out words or to state initials, for example. ("T - A - B") ~Matt (TiPAb)

transcription quality very good, speed of transcription very good. So far my only suggestion would be to have the transcription button embedded natively into the SMS and email applications to allow for seamless responses to existing messages, otherwise the copy/paste helps to accomplish this. This is a game changer for those looking for a very good voice transcription piece to work with the Iphone.

Get it now while its good. Very useful for text messaging in the car, and perhaps for lecture notes all though i havent tried.

I don't think I've ever seen a dictation app this good on the iPhone or anywhere else for that matter. I don't know how but the processing is so fast that it looks like it's done on the phone but as far as the description goes you do need a network connection.it's amazing that it's free as well. I predict this one will shoot to the top of the charts within hours. it also allows you to copy the text and/or immediately open the SMS app -something I've been wanting from that other iPhone tool for a while now.

This is a pretty neat application. The dictation works well. However, it really can't be used is a hands-free solution. The integration with text messaging or e-mail still requires typing. That being said, it still is amazing what it can do. As noted, you must have access to the Internet. My only other quibble, is it is not available on the iPod touch, even though microphone input is possible. This is a good start to what will probably become a great application. It's great that it's free for now.I used it to dictate this review.

I am impressed, so far it is working fast and is mostly accurate. It has editing features built in to help correct errors. It seems to stop after a few sentences and displays dictation up to a point, and then you can pick up dictation again. You can copy to clipboard and paste into notes, or it will open an email or text message and insert the dictation. One issue I have seen is the emails I send to another iPhone have every other line only go about half way accross even though it looked fine in the message sent. Anyone else seeing this? Any work around, copying to clipboard & pasting into email did not fix it? Overall, very neat App, would give 5 Stars if they fix the line length issue.

Sure, it comes with the Dragon Dictation brand, but I was blown away by how quickly this app delivers the recognised text and how accurate it can be, even with my Australian accent and some background noise. Assign this app to your home button and you're three clicks away from having an email or text message nearly ready to go.
And it's the "nearly ready" part of this that makes me give it four instead of five stars — I'm mostly likely to use this app when I can't use my hands to type a message or email, and it's not really going to help me enough with that unless it starts to learn from my corrections, to improve its recognition of my voice. That ability may be in the app somewhere, but it's not anywhere I've noticed yet.
Still, this is yet another way to convince your Blackberry-toting business partner that he's on the wrong device. And while it remains free it's very cool to have handy.

I'm using this app now to write this comment. I think it's a great way to practice dictation skills, because that's the most difficult thing about using dictation program like this. If you don't have good dictation skills, you'll become very frustrated with dictation program like this. Wish there a way to delete text using dictation rather than stop button. Also would like a scratch that, start over feature.

I have been waiting soooo loooooonnng for a decent voice-recognition app solely for the purpose of quickly dictating notes to be used in various apps (should be built-in IMHO..maybe next June). This is a great start, too (thankfully)! But I think if they were smart they'd add a way to collect user edits and use them heuristically to provide downloadable app improvements, in the same way Copilot does with map data. They could even use the location awareness functionality to fine-tune the database even further, zeroing in on local accents.

I have been waiting a long time for Nuance and Apple to get together. This application works great. It is amazing how it recognizes voice to text. Every word was accuractely converted to text. A must have. Cannot wait for Pro version.
