What iPhone Mail app should have been  rating of ibisMail - the first full-fledged email app
By: Rene Box - 23-May-2009
Version: 1.2.0
First of all; this is just what I have been looking for. No problems setting it up but you would have thought that ibisMail would be able to automatically import existing mail accounts from the iPhone Mail app. Never mind, it isn't a show stopper. Love the fact that I can finally organize my mail in folders, something that has annoyed me with the original app. The mail filtering and landscape features are brilliant too. Also, ibisMail is much faster fetching mail from the server. There is however room for improvement and these are the items that I think need addressing:As already mentioned; automatic import of existing accounts. It would be great if ibisMail could run in the background like the original iPhone Mail app with notifications of new mails and can be configured to check for mail on set intervals. Landscape typing doesn't seem to automatically scroll as you type along so the spot where you are typing goes off the screen and you have to manually scroll to see what you've typed. The icons at the bottom could be a bit clearer especially the delete icon (maybe in the shape of a bin like the original app so it is easier to recognize). But all in all, a brilliant app that I am sure will improve and worth every penny!!

I like it...  rating of ibisMail - the first full-fledged email app
By: erbug - May 23, 2009
Version: 1.2.0
Read thereviews and took a chance. There's a lot of configuring just like with any pop account. I added two different accounts. All my email downloaded fine. the icons at the bottom of the screen could be a bit bigger. Others mentioned the program locking up. I thoght this happened but I was wrong. If you select a lot of emails to delete at one time the app takes a while to delete them and appears to not be working but it really is. I like how simple it is to add contacts. Needs a few improvements but over all it does everything it said it would do. This app turned my iTough into a mail app rather than just having an email reader (which is really all the Mail App really is that comes with the i Touch).

Great UI and Great App!!  rating of ibisMail - the first full-fledged email app
By: Mr Potters - Jun 2, 2009

Well I’m not sure why all the bad reviews??? I have 2 pop3 and 2 IMAP mail accounts and all work great! This is what the mail app should be that came with the phone. Most of the bad reviews I think are self inflicted problems and not the app. Setting up mail setting are a pain as it is and this one was no different then the others. It took a couple of tries to get Mobile Me to work but it works fine now. Make sure when you set up the app, you copy your setting from your mail account from your phone and not from your desk top as they are not the same. At least mine are not. As far as the app, I now can save my emails in a folder and make them smart folders as well. If you do a lot of emailing, this is a must have app. Great Job and keep up the good work.

I'm going to up the rating - No problems  rating of ibisMail - the first full-fledged email app

I downloaded this app knowing about the reviews and bugs. I have set up 3 gmail accounts and I have yet to have any issues. This app has amazing potential.I can't speak for the other reviewers because I'm not sure if they know how to set up IMAP . It hasn't crashed, it sorted all my folders from gmail without issues. I'll write again if I run into problems. I would recommend downloading it at 99cents because once the bugs are fixed for other servers ( none with gmail so far ) this app will probably replace the native ( atleast until 3.0 ) . I am not friends with the developer nor do I know them. This is an HONEST review

Decent email app finally!  rating of ibisMail - the first full-fledged email app
By: mt 3G (3.0) - Aug 1, 2009
Version: 1.3.0
Installed ibisMail today without any problems, downloaded mail from my two POP accounts (one with SSL, another without), for curiosity tried both POP and IMAP access for my Gmail account, sent a couple of mails - everything works. Created folders and was happy. Cannot imagine what's wrong with the one or two star guys... Five stars would be actually more fair; my only concern is that icons below the main screen are too small, as someone else has already pointed out. Thanks a lot ibis!

Works great for me  rating of ibisMail - the first full-fledged email app

Seems the reviews are all over on this one. Works great for me. Beats the heck ou of the Apple email client. Nary a problem, sending or receiving. I forward a good bit of email to my iPhone and the Apple email client couldn't handle the 'eml' file extension so it proved utterly useless. This app not only handles the extension but provides much more functionality. Wish i had a better choice of 'mail received' sounds or could use the ones that come with the iPhone.

Not sure why so many bad reviews, I had a little trouble setting up mail accounts at first but if you follow the website instructions it all works. Well it does for me and I have 4 seperate email accounts! Two issues which would make this app better if fixed.1. Is there a way to go straight back to the home page where all your email accounts are displayed, rather than clicking back through a whole series of menues everytime? Like a double click - home, type button.2. It takes an age to send an email and that's without any attachments - please improve this. All up though, the only app I have found that handles all my email accounts!TF

What the Mail app should have been, just needs a few tweaks  rating of ibisMail - the first full-fledged email app
By: Copey86 - 18-Mar-2009
Version: 1.0.0
This is what the Mail app should have been, given their love of spotlight and the smart folder, how Apple overlooked the ability to archive messages into folders is beyond me. Also the abilty to filter emails is great, another thing that should NOT have been left out by Apple. There are however a few fatal flaws in this app that mean it wont replace the Mail app for me just yet, but I'll be keeping an eye on it because once they're fixed it'll beat the Mail app hands down.
Features I Must Have
- Crisper display, the display is not as sharp as the Mail app. If you had to sacrifice some of the apps speed for this it would still be worth it as it's a bit headache inducing when reading the small text of emails.
- Obey the fetch schedule of the phone, we need our phones to tell us when we have mail not have to remeber to check!
Features I would Like To See
- Delete with a swipe, when just deleting single messages this is a much nicer way of deleting.
- Import accounts from the mail app, all the settings are already there, why not use them? Impoprting mail with POP account settings would be a good idea too.
- Be able to creat filters in advance, not have to wait for an email to creat a filter from.
All in all a great start, just needs a few tweaks to replace the Mail app properly.

A decent mail client has what the default mall app. lacks.
- folders & sub-folders creation
- sorting & filtering
- holding up to 1000 messages/account. I'm not sure if this applies only to inbox or the local folders I have created.
However, some great features missing:
- lack of search function, and being unable to search on imap server.
- cannot open as many kinds of attachments as the default mail program–videos, some images
- lack of auto mail check

A bit clunky, but good  rating of ibisMail - the first full-fledged email app
By: Rob Aus - 06-Jul-2009
Version: 1.2.0
I have just installed this app.
I use POP3 and didn't want to mess about creating IMAP accounts, mail forwarding etc. I wanted to be able to mark e-mails as read on the iPhone. The addition of filters, etc, offered by this App is another advantage, along with the increased storage.
It took me a while to configure, it doesn't get the settings automatically from Outlook.
My issues: I had to change the incoming pop3 port from 995 to 110 used by my ISP. The outgoing smtp port defaults to 25. Many ISPs and mobile carriers block this port (if you don't use their server) so I had to change to 587. To do this I had to enable SSL, then disable it once I'd changed the port. This done, it all started working.
This is a good app. It fills the gaps in the current iPhone app. The interface feels a bit clunky, compared to the rest of the iPhone experience, but that could simply be me learning to use it. Until Apple provide us with a decent e-mail app I'm going to continue with this one. It delivers on features and allows sensible management of e-mail.
I haven't tried the IMAP, Gmail or hotmail accounts. Assuming you can connect and download your messages, this app will be able to sort them out for you, and you can even mark them all as read!
