Good Diary  rating of iDiary
By: Sgt10p - 25-Sep-2008
Version: 1.0.1
I have been using the program for about 2 weeks and have no complaints. It does what it says on the tin, without any problems. I haven't noticed any memory leakage, everything on the phone runs fine. I would agree that either a flag or possibly categories would be useful to see which comments relate to work or private stuff, this would be an improvement. It does link into the keyboard suggested words, which helps with my dyslexic fingers.

It's great.....but.....  rating of iDiary

Wow what an amazing app if you're in the market for a daily journel. I love the idea of looking just like the native iPhone calender app! Very easy to use...BUT, it absolutly stinks that it doesn't have the spell check option, I have big fingers and have learned to rely on the iPhone spell check. Please mr./ mrs. Developer for the next update either incorprate the spell check option or give us the ability to use this app in land scape mode, if either is done this would easily be a 5 star app!!SEPTEMBER 15...REVIEW UPDATED:when entering a long journal entry the key board hides the view of what you are writing....until the developer fixed this issue and installs spell check or landscape view, I would advise not to purchase this app.SEPTEMBER 19...REVISED UPDATE:The developer has addressed all the problems I mentioned above...spell check and the key board hiding the written text!!!! Thanks so much for the update this application is a 6 star out of 5 now.

Best diary app so far  rating of iDiary
By: icemantrop - Dec 11, 2009
Version: 1.5.3
I agree with other reviewers that iDiary is very well designed: the user interface is straightforward, very intuitive, and easy to use. In fact, I got familiar with it in 15 minutes and found every function at my fingertips, and I didn't even need the instructions. I also like the tastefully unstated graphical design, because sometimes many iphone apps put too much emphasis on the art and forget the real purpose of the apps. The simple yet elegant balance between function and art is a rare find in today's over-designed iphone apps. For example, I don't consider assigning different background images for my hundreds of journals effective and efficient (although iDiary gives you the option to do it). I love simple and functional apps. I really appreciate the developer's efforts on some important features for diary keepers, such as a calendar screen, privacy protection, data backup, and full text search. iDiary is by far the best diary app on app store, powerful yet simple.

Is there anyway u can make it where u can copy a whole conversation on text messages & paste it in ur diary. Sometimes I like to look back at conversation I had, so I can remember them from a year ago, but it gets too difficult to copy each response in the diary, then to the conversation, copy, diary, paste....That would be great!!! Thanks!!!! Love the app!!! It has been very helpful & I don't have to worry about anyone breaking in & reading everything!!

Great Interface! Easiest Diary App to Use!  rating of iDiary
By: Yankee Boy 922 - Nov 14, 2009
Version: 1.5.3
This is by far the best Diary application for the iPhone. I have tried various others such as My Diary, and Nano Diary Lite. But this was the best so far. The newly added ability to transfer entries out through HTTP is exactly what this app needed, and now we have it. And finally after requesting it since the beginning, we can finally add pictures! Thanks to the developers. I love developers that actually listen to what the customers want and add it. Great Job! The only things that would make it even even better are:1. Ability to add icons to the montly view. 2. I would like to see a way to have categories. Like to have a different calendar for different things. I could use one that had all of my work entries and one that had all of my pets an another for other parts of my life. Almost like a way to view them seperatley, because having them all in one calendar is too confusing and they are to hard to find, even with the search feature. ViJournal M has this feature, and I think it is one of the only things that is better about their app.3. Multimedia integration such a voice notes. 4. A web address that we could access with a web interface in which we could type entries on our computer and have them sync with the application in the device. But this app is still great without these features, and they would simply make it phenomonal. This is the only diary on the iPhone that is encrypted so that is their main feature that no one else seems to have. Keep up the good work developers!

Best Journal I Found  rating of iDiary
By: dr_ken - Oct 12, 2009
Version: 1.5.3
I bought iDiary a week ago and the app has lived up to its description. It has everything I want in a mobile diary, fonts, photos, color tagging, global search, you name it -- everything, i.e., except one thing. As I want to append these entries to my PC Journal, and because I find dealing with entries by email clumsy, would it be possible to add a sync by Apple's Free Bonjour/WiFi service? That way, even us lonely iTouch citizens (even those without a net connection!) could transfer data. Possible? If so, you'd rate 6 starts, if only by my own system. ;)

Best diary app out there  rating of iDiary
By: kitkatkiecke - Oct 4, 2009
Version: 1.5.3
I just started using this app and so far I'm really impressed. I was not thrilled with the price but after reasearching LOTS of other diary apps, the ability to see your enteries on a calendar format and the color coding sold me. It is FAR, FAR easier to go back and review your entries this way. I'm using this for medical reasons and the color coding really helps identify the crucial info I need to share.

The only diary app with calendar, backup, and encryption feature!  rating of iDiary
By: katewinla - Sep 22, 2009
Version: 1.5.3
I took some time to compare all diary apps on App Store and iDiary ranks on the top of my list. iDiary is the only one that offers calendar interface, data encryption, and backup/restore. Can't imagine using any other application without these essential features. I really enjoy using the calendar screen to browse and track previous notes. Linking journals to specific dates on the calendar made my life so much easier! Also, you definitely need a backup function since iTunes sync is unreliable. It's especially impressive that I can encrypt the backup entries to protect my privacy. Thank you, developer!

Love this app  rating of iDiary
By: LadyYD - Dec 28, 2008
Version: 1.3.1
This is a fantastic application. Very easy to use once you figure out what the icon buttons on the bottom mean. I typed my entry and was curious what the square button did... Found out the hard way! Maybe add an icon glossary to the info page? I constantly use this app while in landscape mode. So much easier to type with two hands this way. Kudos to the developers for that! Although this app provides a choice of changing font type and size, I would like the ability to change the paper too. Maybe some choices of changing the color or a choice of stationary? And a larger choice of fonts? Also maybe a time stamp for those days that there are multiple entries? And I agree that there should be a way to change the color of the line on the calendar. As for the icons on the bottom of the page- maybe you can add a confirmation step? I know there isn't one for the clear page (square) button. That would be very helpful. I still give this app 5 stars. Its very stable and it works well without crashing. Well worth the money spent. Thank You.

A very nice little applet!  rating of iDiary
By: j7s - Nov 22, 2008
Version: 1.3.1
I purchased this program mainly to be able to keep track of a few things, without the worry of someone else reading them; this program fits the bill. I've only used the program about 4 or 5 times so far, but quickly found it to be easy, functional, and enjoyable to use. iDiary does one thing and does it well. I give it 5 stars. $6.99 (at the time of my purchase) for some people might be steep, but for ease of use and what it does....it's worth every penny to me!
To the reviewer who stated there is no spell check, perhaps that was the case when the program 1st came out............but there is one now, and it's quite good!

Really Good App  rating of iDiary
By: Praysem - Sep 23, 2008
Version: 1.0.1
This is a wonderful application. I would have given it 5 stars, but it does not have the predictive text (spell check/word replacement) feature that is basic to the iPhone/iPod Touch. MyDiary has that feature, but it does not have the looks or navigation abilities that this app has. If this one feature gets fixed in an update, I'd give this app 5 stars instead of 4. Wait! I just noticed another problem. You can't see what you're typing if you go longer than the window that's open when the virtual keyboard is in use. It does not scroll so you can see what you're typing. That knocks it down from 4 to 3 stars. Get those 2 things fixed and the rating goes up to 5 stars.
I agree, you really do need a website up so that we can stop asking questions through the ratings. Anyway, I also agree with the request to sync the app to the computer (hopefully Mac as well as PC). I also want to suggest a search feature. This would enable me to easily find entries I'm looking for. Thanks for the fix that's on the way. :-)
The things I mentioned earlier have now been fixed. I'm bumping this app up from 3 stars to 5 stars! This is a great app! The only things I'd like to see on this application now are 1) a way to make multiple entries on the same day - with a time notation, and 2) a way to choose fonts and even font colors for each entry. But even without these things, this is a very good app!

Best app of it's kind  rating of iDiary
By: spoof67 - May 31, 2009
Version: 1.5.0
I love the simplicity... The calendar view makes it very easy to keep track of your days as opposed to apps that use folders and icons. Other programs that do have the calendar view ruin it by being clunky and cluttered. The color swatches are nice and very useful in their on the fly simplicity... I just don't understand the need to limit it to three colors.Multiple entries for each day are easily scrollable at the bottom.I've had no problems with this app... I can't use re other diary apps practically... But to make this take off and solidify it's place in my life for the long haul, we desperately need to be able to import text... If sen in the most minimal fashion. The latest update gives us photos...but not within the text space of an entry...just a link to the picture associated with the entry. Better than nothing but hopefully they fine tune this further. All in all, one of my most valuable apps.Things I'd like to see (but probably won't):- more color swatches- mini icons to choose from besides the green dot to indicate an entry: tiny moon phases, weather icons, and misc holiday related icons- text color changes- images within entries- importing plain text and beyond. Evernote data, but thats just dreaming. Thanks for the great app. Keep up the updates and keep expanding a great app!

just upgraded my iPhone to 3GS. don't want to restore all apps and data from my old iphone. only want to install several useful apps into the fresh system -- idiary is one of them. emailed the developer asking for a standalone backup/restore feature other than itunes sync. and their reply says this feature is under testing and will be available soon. a responsive developer who listens to customers' requests.

Great App  rating of iDiary
By: njh2 - Nov 21, 2008
Version: 1.3.1
This app works great and does everything that it claims to do. Good navigation and great setup for writing extensive entries. I use it as a basic to do list, and I can write as much as a I need to per entry (good for workouts, problems with a to do task, etc.). A couple of things that could make it better is if there was an option to put a future time down for an entry (e.g. Put "Football Game" as an entry for next Sunday and then be able to put time of game). An alarm for future entries would also be nice. Additionally, it would be great if a user could reorder the list of entries for a day. Finally, I wish there was a way to turn off the password prompt. I think that each of these abilities would make the app better without taking away from its essential purpose. iDiary is already way better than any to do list or calender app that I can find, and adding to the app in those dimensions would make it phenomenal.
