Description:
Mocha VNC provides access to a VNC Server. Using your iPhone, you can connect to a Windows PC or Mac OS X and see the files, programs, and resources exactly as you would if you were sitting at your desk, just on a smaller screen. LITE VERSION: Compared to the Lite version the full version has: - Another cool key board - Extra keys as ALT,CTRL, Option and the Apple key - Support for right mouse button, hover and mouse wheel - Macro support - Ctrl+alt+del key. Needed if using Win 200x as a VNC Server FEATURES: - Standard VNC protocol with encrypted password signon - 8 and 32 bit color modes - Local Mouse support - Zoom and scroll as the Safari browser - Landscape mode - Can handle 6 different Host configurations - Has been tested with RealVNC, TightVNC, UltrVNC on Windows, and Apple Remote Management, which is included with the Mac OS X. - A screen resolution larger than 2000x2000, as to memory and speed, is not recommended. Not a problem on iPhone 3GS as it has 128M extra memory.

Reviews:
4 3/4 stars By: jdsd - Jul 19, 2008 Version: 1.0 this app shows the power of iPhone that all the geeks knew was there. just downloaded the free lite version, hard to complain about something free.
i will say:
- doesn't take addresses of the form 10.0.1.3:3, which is pretty standard vnc.
- 1600x1280 limitation cuts off part of my screen.
- a bit of lag; trying to control the moving of some windows was not great.
- seems to excel at point-click & keyboard ops.
- drops connection more quickly than i would have thought
however, these seem like nits to pick for one of the coolest apps the store has to offer for free.
I don't usually write reviews... but... By: MacBoobsPro - 18-Jul-2008 Version: 2.0 WOW!!!! This app is brilliant! I have an AppleTV in the living room and the iTunes library it streams from (G5) is in the attic and its a pain to keep going up and down all the stairs setting things up and turning the G5 on and off. Also because energy bills keep sky rocketing I dont like to leave my G5 on all the time or have it set to power on and off automatically because although useful its still quite inefficient. With VNC Lite I can now control the G5 while sat infront of the AppleTV. If I no longer want to watch the AppleTV and have no use for the G5 to be on I can turn it off from down stairs. The only downside to this app (and its only a very small one) is the interface needs a little refinement. Apart from that its probably the best app I've downloaded (for any platform).
Incredible App - And it's free! By: skinrock - Jul 19, 2008 Version: 1.0 With some of the things being released, it is to my utter disbelief that this is free. I have not had it crash or give me any issues. Within 15 minutes I figured out how to set up RealVNC, allow my firewall to let me connect to my PC over Edge (I don't have a 3G yet), and run VNC Lite perfectly. For those saying "OMG I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO", they list all of the support VNC servers right in the description. I have never done VNC before, and all I had to do was search the name of these applications and I figured it out. Mad props ot MochaSoft.
Fantastic By: fenix8452 - Nov 9, 2008 Version: 1.1 Using it with realvnc on a windows xp machine. So far it is fantastic; fairly quick response even on the 3g network, is able to do all the basic tasks, and connects quickly if you are setup right.
A few things to keep in mind though. You need to know something about vnc already, this will not walk you through it. Also you will have to set a port exception on your firewall and this isn't perfectly secure on default.
I'll give it five for a free app By: Mean and Pinchy - Mar 28, 2009 Version: 2.0 I got the free version just to try it out. It took me only minutes to set up connections with both my (Ubuntu) desktop and laptop. Couldn't be simpler; entered the IP addresses and the passwords, hit Connect, and I was all set. Over wifi, I can use my 1280x800 laptop with 32-bit colour, but the desktop has dual displays and the resolution is high, so it runs the phone low on memory after a short time. The desktop is quite useable at 8-bit, though, if not precisely pretty, and that's no fault of the app itself. I'm taking it out for a test-run outside my home network, but I've already set up port-forwarding on the router, so I don't anticipate any problems; it'll just be slower than wifi. I'm giving it five stars because it works well and has all the functionality I really need, for free. That said, I'll buy the full version. Not because I really need the extra features, but because the price is very reasonable and I want to support the developers.
vnc servers which ones the best?!!!@@@ By: stevendakim - Oct 17, 2008 Version: 1.1 guys i have tested the speed on all 3 of the main vnc servers (real, tight, ultra vnc servers) and even one of the not so popular vnc server such as turbo vnc and out of all 4 of them ultra vnc was the best. The setup for all 4 of those were pretty much the same just go into the setting of your router and enable the ports for vnc 5500, 5800, 5900. Keep this in mind do not ever use turbo vnc it is the slowest it takes screenshots of desktop and does not refresh. You manually have to refresh it yourself. As for the speed of the main vnc servers ultra is fastest and real and tight are pretty much the same thing.
incredibly well done By: heckj - Jul 18, 2008 Version: 1.0 Mocha's VNC lite is incredibly well done. While I don't think I'll make a habit of controlling computers through the compressed interface, the implementation makes it not only possible, but pretty darn reasonable. There's a few pieces missing, which I expect I'll see in the pay-for variant of the application. This is a real gem of an application, and I think anyone who needs periodic remote access to systems should keep it stashed on their iPhone or iPod against that need.
Very cheap move by developer By: ben.kreeger - Dec 6, 2009 Version: 2.3 Ridiculous. This app was good for a while, and then (just as all the other reviews are stating) they stripped it of most of the features (like the Command key, the ability to change mouse/scrolling modes, etc). Very very poor and lousy move on the developer's part. They've just lost a potential customer, as I was considering purchasing the full version of this app to show my support. Somebody who uses shady tactics like this to make a quick buck on the App Store will NOT EVER get my buck. Sorry.
Amazing By: No Hero - Sep 28, 2008 Version: 1.1 First download a vnc program. I got tight vnc. After download of vnc launch it thenu see it I'm the system tray. Then right click it and go to properties and there are many options. To let your vnc auto accept your connection turn on query and choose the options u want. Set a password on the first tab andset the port to 9500 the default vnc code. There are many other options u can choose. Then place it mouse over the icon ( make sure there is no red border on the icon ) and type in that adress. Then connect and your there! The only problem I have is the mouse does not work :(
Fantastic By: iPhone-1.0 - Jul 17, 2008 Version: 1.0 This app is absolutely fantastic. There are some minor scrolling enhancments to be corrected hopefully in the pay version. Which I am patiently waiting for. I knew nothing about VNC, but as a result of reading these comments, I downloaded TightVNC and installed it, ( not as a service ). My system is a Windows XP SP3. I then adjusted my firewall to allow in port 5900. Downloaded the Mocha VNC Lite app, and added it to my iPhone. Once all was installed, I opened TightVNC, changed my password, and by holding the mouse over the PC tray Icon, saw what the IP address was. Then open iPhone app VNC Lite, used the IP address, and changed the password to what I used in TightVNC. Then [ Connect ], and instantly my home omputer desktop page appeared then I executed Excel & other programs, no problems at all. Also remember that [ EDGE ] didn't work for me, I had to use wireless. Sorry for the long winded comment, but still awed by the app. This process worked for me, may not work for everyone.

If you have a PC, youre an idiot By: Cob429 - Sep 23, 2008 Version: 1.1 I cannot believe the nerve of some of you people to first buy an Apple product for several hundred dollars and then another $70-100 every month for service but youre too cheap to buy the full version of this which is only $5!!!!! And then theres the free version, which works flawlessly for me between my iPhone and Mac. It is the best free app I have ever downloaded and I dont even need the full version. However, if I did I would buy it. And again, you could just as easily spend about the same amount of money for a mac mini as you would on your iPhone but you dont, and instead youll complain about how it is worthless with Windows. You dont think they realized that? That would be one hell of an oversight. Its a trial to get you interested in the full, and still very affordable version, but you all just act like idiots and complain. Your sense of entitlement is disgusting!
Outstanding application and easy to use! By: Stvsan - Jul 17, 2008 Version: 1.0 In using remote control on mobile devices, this is hands-down the best one I've used so far. I can even access my Linux box. I've used old PocketPCs, the Zaurus, and all versions of Windows Mobile phones with all forms of RDC and VNC. The zoom, panning, and keyboard controls are perfectly suited for the iPhone. The app is best suited on a wifi connection. You'll get frustrated over Edge...I don't have the 3G yet so I cannot comment on that experience. If you're familiar with VNC, you'll be very satisfied. It's strange to read any negativity around this product being that it's free. If you don't have a jailbroken phone, this is your only option but they did a great job! For those unfamiliar with VNC, you'll need to install the service in order to access your computer. Go to MochaSoft's website under the FAQs for reference and download links.
Does exactly what I need By: Larrykz - Sep 17, 2008 Version: 1.1 I installed Mocha VNC Lite on my iPhone and TightVNC on my Vista destop and the setup and configuration of everything took less than two minutes. Mocha VNC Lite does what I need in a VNC client and that's the ability to control my desktop and read documents while on the job. Network admins controlling servers remotely should use either Mocha VNC or Jaadu VNC, both of which offer more features. You have to option to install TightVNC as a program or a service, and those with any security concerns should install it only as a program and launch TightVNC only if you know you will need it that day before leaving for the office. Those without security concerns should install it as a service and allow it to run on boot. Both Mocha VNC Lite and TightVNC have worked flawlessly for me so far. You really can't beat Mocha VNC Lite for the price. Larry
GREAT APP! By: Mitchell214 - Feb 20, 2009 Version: 2.0 It was a little difficult to set up with my Airport Extreme to work with my Mac, but it was well worth it! The interface of this app makes it extremely easy to use! Looks like I'm just sitting in front of my computer! Great app! For those of you using an Airport Extreme, to get this to work, you need to set up a static IP address for the computer you want to be able to remotely access. Once you do that, open up the Airport Utility and forward port 5900 to the static IP you set up for the computer.
Works great and without hassle By: maimaipanda - Sep 13, 2008 Version: 1.1 This program does exactly what it promises without any hassle or complications. I followed the directions on the developer's home page and was connected to my computer within 3 minutes via Wi-fi. It works exactly as you might expect letting you open/view/delete files etc. (depending on your computer settings) just as if you were sitting in front of your computer. Screen refresh was amazingly fast and I was very pleased to see how smoothly the zooming/panning was implemented. Best of all, it's free. Based on the other reviews it seems that if you want to connect to a windows machine you might need the paid version to gain access to the "del" key, but for connecting to mac via Apple Remote Desktop, this is not needed. Even if you had to pay for it it'd be a great deal, but for free? It's amazing!
5 short days to remote desktop access! Awesome!!!! By: rmontyq - Jul 17, 2008 Version: 1.0 Used the built in VPN client to connect, used both RDP clients and xterm, clients to smoothly go from system to system, screen to screen. APPLE!!! Let the Paid Version Out! I will be plunking down my $$ when it shows up. Fantastic job, keep up the good work - and GIVE US AN SSH CLIENT! You have the experience, just give it up. I for one would be very happy to beta test any SSH, secure application you produce. Thanks for making my day.
Good app By: KL1054 - Feb 12, 2009 Version: 2.0 This is a decent free vnc application. In fact, it's actually really good for a free app, as compared to the $25 dollar Jaduu VNC app that does the same thing, just has some more features. It freezes up sometimes but it was just an Internet problem - I reset my router and Internet and it all worked fine. I have no complaints or problems with this program except the occassional freezing. On my main computer, it can't connect but that's my computer's problem, not the app's.

Cool new use By: BlueCap Man - Aug 22, 2008 Version: 1.0 For all you photographers out there, I ended up using this program in a new way (at least for me). For studio shoots, I have my digital SLR connected to my Mac so all photos get saved directly to my HDD and I can control the camera from the computer. Well, 20 minutes into the shoot I'm getting tired of going back and forth from the shooting stage to the camera/computer. I fire up this program on my iPod Touch and now I can trigger the camera and review the shots remotely. FANTASTIC. Especially since it's FREE!!!
Amazing application! By: Sean reynoldscs - Jul 16, 2008 Version: 1.0 Tested and works with vista and OSx. For vista I used ultra vnc. You have to forward the ports to your computers ip address. Don't do it If you don't know what that means.
I want to pay for the full version even though this free one does most all I would want. It's just that good!
Seriously huge WOW factor, plus this could come in really handy. Over 3g it's not a lightning fast connection, but it definately gets the job done!
Holy cow!
