I have tried many different recording apps, but this is the one to get!
The interface is simple, but effective. The program also geotags the recordings to help sort them.
But the best part is the Web Interface for downloading the recordings... no extra apps required to get the data off really push this one over the top!
Really well done guys!
BTW: Recordings are as AIFC files, with 5 hours-ish of recording eating not quite 1/3 of my battery on my iPhone 3g

I like especially the voice level indicator, initially thought it was decoration, until it became free and I got to test it. The sound so far is also great better than the other apps I tried. I had finally decided to try one more time and bought "iDicto" instead of "Record" yet when this App went free, I downloaded it and realized it was so much better in sound quality than "iDicto". When you record and play back, you can actually hear the recording better than other apps, which allow one to only have the sound be heard well with headphones. Kudos. Keep up the good work.

Very nice app all around. One small improvement - I'm sure they are working - would be the ability to choose email recipients from the contact database.

Maybe there is a pref for this but...I do not like the fact I have to name every recording. I can't type while I'm driving or busy.
I would prefer just a time/date stamp when saving and then name it later

FEATURE REQUEST: Please include an option to reduce the input sensitivity so that loud sound sources (such as band rehearsals) can be captured without overloading / distorting.
All-round, this app is GREAT. The "sink" (sic) feature works a treat plus there are plenty of goodies like the ability to use gps to create "smart folders".
I can only give 4 stars as there are a couple of things that need tidying up. I'd probably rate 5 stars if the input sensitivity issue was addressed.
This app is priced very fairly - we'll have to wait and see how updates and customer support are handled.

So close to perfect.

Ok, so after looking at all the reviews this looked the best, was inexpensive but most of had a free wifi sync app. I have used it and it looks to be pretty good at recording, wonderful interface, pause and play and email built in. The only part that I felt let down by was the syncing, this is why. It just doesn't feel like it was made by the same people.... The interface is dull. I understand they went for simplicity but come on, this is a "made for Apple" product. Now, I can get over that, what I cant get over is how my first sync didn't allow me to listen to my recordings once i synced them over. I re-synced again and now I can hear it however I can not delete the original, also what if you are not in a wifi area how do you sync? I appreciate there is not much you can do about that, but I just think... Innovate.
All in all though pretty impressed and if the sync was as great as the application, easily 5 star material.

No Contact Integration

Unfortunately, the most recent update did not add contact integration for email purposes. Too bad, 'cause the description says it's now here - but it's not. Maybe next time. Good app, however, the most recent update also slowed it down somewhat.
Best audio quality of all the recorder apps, and the email facility is good. Will be great when it integrates with Contacts. Well worth the buy.

i like the folders option

this is the only app i could find that clearly stated a way to store / organize in folders. i have different projects i need to use reminders for and the folder option is great. i dont like the fact you have to record, then scroll thru a list of folders rather than being able to add a recording to the folder while you are already in it. hopefully an update will take care of that? worth the money for me.

this little recorder is just about as functional as a cell phone recorder for $2 ought to be. first off, you do NOT need an extra program to upload any size file to your computer. simply use the upload button on the program's menu page and enter the ip address given into your computer's web browser. assuming you have wifi, it will upload the file no problem. also, if you don't like the shaking thing, don't use it. you can opt to start recording with the "+" button in the lower right corner. decent volume level on recording and nice interface. the only thing that would make it better is the ability to select a higher quality recording. if they upgrade that, i'll change it to 5 stars, but overall a good app.

After testing several recorders, I can say that visually this has one of the most attractive interfaces, and works quite well.
That said, it has one serious drawback: In order to transfer recordings to your computer, you must first launch the "Sink" application on that computer. If you are visiting a friend, and want to transfer a recording, that friend must also first add the "Sink" software to their own computer. (By way of contrast, iDicto is able to sync without any external proprietary software simply by accessing the specified IP address from within any internet browser.)
Shaking the phone to launch a new recording is innovative, but I personally find it slightly annoying and would prefer a way to disable that behavior.
As is, this application easily gets four enthusiastic stars! If Record also included the NATIVE ability to sync recordings - without having to launch a separate program on the computer - and allowed a few simple user settings (i.e., turn off "shake" to start a recording, and allow different quality settings) it would be a full five stars.

Now for something new: Stability!

Very nice...and stable! The computer sync works perfectly too. Add a quality setting High/Medium/Low and this would be absolutely perfect. I have two other recorders, both of which crash nearly every time I launch them, but this one seems different...it's solid feeling and hasn't gone down yet. The interface is elegant and simple.**The last update made the file format 16 bit 44.1 kHz.** I could see how some people would want to choose a quality level, but i'm happy with the high quality setting.

Let me first say that I love this app and use it all the time. It's simple, intuitive and the ideal "goto" for quick recordings. I especially like the folders and how easy they are to use and organize. The app does, however, lack two features that may prove dealbreakers for certain people: 1) Can't add on to existing recordings. 2) Can't change the speed of playback. Also, when you create a recording you're presented with existing folders to put it into. However, if you want to put it into a brand new folder, you have to first save it to All Recordings, then go to the Folders Menu to create the new folder, then move that recording to the folder you just created. Would be great if you could add it to a New Folder (which you would then name) when your first presented with the folder list.IF YOU'RE LISTENING DESIGNERS, please consider these features and suggestions. Once implemented, this will be the PERFECT recording app!

No excuse not to have this if you're a musician, perfect for capturing song ideas, lyrics and riffs. Haven't tried in a rehearsal space but get the feeling it may peak? But nothing a jumper wouldn't sort out! And 59p is a he'll of a lot cheaper than a zoom h4!! Happy days!

Syncs easily. Just remember to disable firewall. Don't bother asking them for help, they NEVER reply. Product is great but the company's customer service is non existant.

This is a slick and well designed app. The interface looks good and works well, audio quality is fine and the folder management options are excellent. I've experienced no crashes or other problems with the software in the 24 hours I've been using it. At the introductory price this is an absolute bargain.
