This spreadsheet does everything I need it to. You can move an MS Excel spreadsheet right into the app with no problem. They recently upgraded to enable you to scroll through the spreadsheet function buttons on the bottom of the page with your finger. I use this app to keep track of all of my passwords. Data is easily entered and you can alphabetize your list just as you do in a regular Excel spreadsheet. I realize that I use this spreadsheet for such a simple task but it works for me!

So far I have found Spreadsheet to be great, sure you aren't going to want to enter data for hundreds of cells (at least not in one go) but it really is very funcational and has been solid and stable during my use. Clearly what is missing is the ability to import or open existing spreadsheets - this feature would greatly improve Spreadsheet and warrant 5 stars. I would also like to see a confirmation on the cancel option to ensure you can't accidentally lose your changes. I also find that it is quite easy to click the Save button when trying to click in the edit cell text field meaning that the sheet closes (at least it saves your data as well). All in all a great first release with pleny of room for future enhancements.

Excellent application. Just what I've been looking for.

Looks well designed and feels very robust. This is a well written application with a professional feel
especially for a first release. It is clear from the developer's site that a lot of additional functionality is coming in the
next release including a built-in webdav server to allow us to send spreadsheets to the iPhone (a task which Apple make
difficult by not providing native support). I definitely rate this application.

Very Impressive Product. Downnloaded and set up 4 spreadsheets with reasonable complex formula. Copy & Paste across several/range of cells a little bit fiddly to do, but with practise you do get the hang of it. Like the fact you can format cells / colours/bold etc. Good variety of formulae available.
Have not got the Import/Export to work, but I suspect that is me/my laptop(very locked down as it is a work laptop) and my router, so tried sending spreadsheet via the email route. Had little bit of an issue with the format the mail arrived in (Outlook does not always process xml attachments), but an email to Spreadsheet Support @ Softalk was very promptly replied to and good advice & a link provided to explain matters further. So long as I can get the raw data I am entering in the iphone onto the laptop I can fix the rest in Excel.
Onlne Help/Handbook quite well written, showing graphics where necessary.
Overall I am quite pleased I bought this product and look forward to future updates.

I am really pleased with this application! I have been looking to edit spreadsheets on the iPhone since I first got my phone over a year ago and now I can! The controls are really easy and the website gives full instructions. Best of all though is the support! I have emailed them regarding 2 different issues and they have got back to me almost immediately with a response. Very impressed Softalk Ltd!

This decent spreadsheet app has just got better!
Softalk have fixed all bugs AND provided importing (I can now see my spreadsheets from my desktop and copy them to/from my iPhone).
After using spreadsheet in ernest for a couple of weeks I realised that I needed the ability to make templates which is now also easy with the new copy spreadsheet function.
It does seem a little faster as well!
Now it is a REALLY usefull app - well worth the £5 I paid for it!

I have been using the previous version of this program for a while and was very pleased with its scope and functioning. Recently I needed to use it for a sheet containing several Mod function calculations and found it was rounding the results to an integer when a floating input was used and a corresponding result required. I emailed this to the support team and the problem was fixed in about a week. This shows the fine level of support the program has. It has the same functionality as most desktop versions, Imports and exports can be easily managed on WiFi from the Finder/Go menu on a Mac by drag & drop, and the xls format is widely available from most computers. Bigger sheets can be composed on a large monitor or laptop and transfer accurately onto the iPhone. The range of tools on the bottom bar covers all the needs that I have required to date.

I am overall very happy with this program, however I have 2 problems and would be grateful for advice as I find it impossible to talk to a support engineer.
1. When I 'Connect' iPhone to MacBook the new window appears OK but with none of the iPhone "Spreadsheet" spreadsheets showing - it is blank. When I drag and drop a spreadsheet from a Folder in MacBook to the window, it appears to go across fine, and shows briefly on both the iPhone screen and the Macbook window but then vanishes! So nothing has been transferred. Yet I have no problem transferring files in either direction using the same address with "AirSharing", so there is nothing wrong with the link.
2. When I send a spreadsheet to myself by email to try to get it on my MacBook that way, I do not get (as stated) an xml file attachment. I get the spreadsheet as a text message telling me to copy to an .xml file (how is this done?) and then open.
Many thanks for help.

UPDATE - now excellent!

Update - now with v2.0 this has really improved with both full support for standard XLS files, workbooks (as in multiple sheets) and many other improvements. Great app.--------- (old review follows) ---------- Really seems to work well, the interface is quite useable, formula support is reasonable, and the wifi sharing method for getting sheets on or off the device (along with the more conventional email facility) works quite well. It's always going to dissapoint some looking for more robust Office solutions for the iPhone, but it's a very reasonable start and quite useful in its current form. Support for more file formats would be welcome (eg .XLS rather than XML) and unless I'm missing something there's no support for multiple sheets in the same workbook yet, which is a bit limiting. Still the best spreadsheet on the iPhone though.

For something as complex as a spreadsheet on something as 'different' as the iPhone, this is very, very good.
When I transferred from my Windows Mobile phone, all of my small 'mobile' spreadsheets imported flawlessly and although some were using functions that weren't implemented at the time, with the 2.0 release things are now pretty much all in place for what I want to do. Just about everything I've done with my previous Palm and Windows Mobile devices I can now do on my iPhone.
The addition of support for multiple sheets with the latest version moves this to a 5-star application in my view and one that will have a home on my device for as long as I own it.
It's true that a couple of the recent changes broke a few of my sheets but this was easily remedied and is a price I'm prepared to pay for the exceptional functionality offered by this software.
Overall, I'm very happy with what I got for my money. I've run out of stars to award, but with the improvements already planned, I can see this continuing to improve for a while yet.

this is the best of the best of the apps for excel type apps not only it saves them in excel format, its almost like excel but not, i think these people have between microsoft to it everything you can do in excel you can do in here just need to know where to look, what would improve on its much greatness is to have an option to have a password protect your spreadsheets so you can keep preying eyes at bay. I don't know if you guess can do that in the next update but i for one would find it most useful and helpful.

Having read some of the scathing reviews that have appeared I was a bit uncertain, but decided to take a chance and purchase Spreadsheet. I am glad I did. It works perfectly for me and imported and exported files from the word go. I have also uploaded several of my work spreadsheets (some of which are quite big and complicated) but they worked perfectly. I also e-mailed a question to Softalk and had a response the next day which I think is excellent service. For those like me who are still wondering whether to give it a go, I would say go right ahead.

Unlike a lot of iPhone apps you can save your work in Spreadsheet. I have created a spreadsheet for managing my expenses while i am on the move. I have also created a price list for client meetings. I can capture client requirements during a meeting and email the XML file back to my office PC. When I get back to my office I can import the XML file into Excel and generate a quote. Very cool...!!!

In my day job I create very large spreadsheets which I did not want to put on the iphone, but I did want a similar look and feel. To this end and the fact that I have been using this app since the weekend I have found it really cool. I have now moved my expenses, my MPG calculator, cheque book balancing to this app and all now on the phone and on the move.
I also now send the file to my work PC, which is great and I believe the next release will have Import functionality from Excel.
I have read the other reviews and would say that one must realise what this app is designed for and what it does not replace, at this moment in time it cannot replace the 100,000 line spreadsheets I process at the office, but it does achieve what I was looking for in a spreadsheet for the iphone. Since the weekend I have been telling all my friends who have iphones to buy this, that's how good I think it is.
So to end the review it is my opinion that if you are looking for a spreadsheet tool that is very cool, easy to use and very good functionality then buy this app, I look forward to more apps from Softalk.

What a brilliant application! Very intuitive interface and definitely worth the money.Only issues I have: • Takes quite a while to open spreadsheets of fairly large size (although this is probably more the fault of my iPod)• I'd like it if there were more formulae available. I tried importing a spreadsheet using the RANK formula but the cells containing it came up empty.Other than that, a brilliant app. Keep up the good work!

Spreadsheets on the move

Excellent app. It does a job and does it well. You might not be able to knock up that complex bit of Excel that the boss wanted yesterday while you're on the bus to work - you are using an MP3 player (OK a very grown up MP3 player) - but its great for taking a copy of that Excel spreadsheet from your PC; editing it while you're on the move; fiddling with the layout; adding in that column of derived values; and then dropping it back onto your PC when you get back.
It can create new Worksheets (or should that be Workbooks - let's call them files), add new sheets into the file, email or copy the files as well as sharing them over Wi-Fi (either using a browser or via 'Network Places'). The layout uses most the features familiar in Excel (Borders, Colours, etc. - even wrapped text) and most of the Functions from Excel are built in as well as features like freezing panes, sorting, searching and the like.
I can find wrinkles (I did find (and report) aproblem with wrapped, the Toolbar buttons are a bit fiddly, and Copy doesn't seem to leave text in the Touch clipboard) and I could always wish for more, but its an MP3 player! ... or is it a PDA? ... and there's always the next version!

I installed it and WOW! The difference in the time it takes to load my 2054 line spreadsheet is fantastic. Just a few seconds compared to almost 35 seconds on the final beta which was what I was running before. It is one of the most important applications that I have on my iPhone. I like the slider for options on the bottom, much better than the click to scroll on the previous release. Two complaints:
1. When I scroll to the search icon and do a search, when I cancel the search the slider is returned to home. It should stay as I left it.
2. I want to press Save and have it do the save but keep the spreadsheet active. Should have a Save & Exit button in addition to Save or a drop down on a File option that has both Save and Save and Exit. Hmmm, even a Save As while were at it. :-)
3. In HELP, at the very bottom under support, it STILL says Version 2 is coming soon. Reported this in the final Beta. :-)
Spreadsheet is a MUST HAVE in my opinion. I tried one other that had the same functions (almost) as yours but it just didn't measure up. Too many little things that made me always return to Spreadsheet even though the other app was faster. BUT, it isn't faster now. You guys did a magic job on the speed increase. I can't understand why the one reviewer complained about the speed.

iPod Touch Diabetic care management

This app is excellent. Customer support was very helpful with logic level procedures. I developed four Workbooks on EXCEL for managing my diabetes on my iMac and have had no problems transferring to my iPod Touch. I discovered on my own how to control panning with background colors for cells needed to enter data and read resullts. These worksheets are used for intensive management with calculations for exercise and carbo counting with insulin requirements for each meal.

Most useful app on my iPhone by far!

The ability to quickly build a simple calculator for anything makes this the most useful app my iPhone. With some down time on BART, I was able to build a simple budget calculator. While looking at some houses I was able to build a simple loan calculator. Features are well laid out, and cover every spreadsheet need I have had so far. Better sharing support would make this app perfect, but already it has some cleaver approaches to importing and exporting (it has its own web server built in so you can share spreadsheet via ad hoc wireless networking or as embedded XML in an email). Well written, and abundantly useful.
