Description:
Have you forgotten most of your algebra? Algebra Touch refreshes your skills using techniques only possible on your iOS device. Say you have x + 3 = 5. You can drag the 3 to the other side of the equation. Enjoy the wonderful conceptual leaps of algebra, without getting bogged down by the tedium of traditional methods. Drag to rearrange, tap to simplify, and draw lines to eliminate identical terms. Easily switch between lessons and randomly-generated practice problems. Create your own problems or edit current ones. Current material covers: Simplification, Like Terms, Commutativity, Order of Operations, Factorization, Prime Numbers, Elimination, Isolation, Variables, Solving Equations. And one more thing... External display support. If you have an external display cable, you can demonstrate algebra to your audience. Made possible with support from the Percepts and Concepts Laboratory of Indiana University, Bloomington. Thanks to the Cave Lab at the University of Richmond for helpful suggestions. Questions? Best Example of how iProducts are changing the world. By: RAT View - Aug 19, 2010 Version: 1.0 This is the most elegant, well conceived and designed teaching aid ever. I installed this on my Grand Daughters iPad to help her get ready for the 4th grade. In less than 30 minutes she was in the pure and splendid zone of highly engaged learning. She looked up and said "this is so cool, I love it, math is fun". She call me that night and said she had just completed all the lessons and was creating problems for me to work on when we see each other next. When you see the natural ability of a child to learn ignited and applied in something that can only help them in their future you can't help but feel good about the product you bought. The interface is very easy to use, it promotes confidence, understanding and logic of math. This is a must have for anyone learning or wanting to refresh the world of algebra!!!!
Excellent app By: quesadilla5 - Aug 11, 2010 Version: 1.0 This app takes something seemingly complicated and difficult to grasp and makes it into something visual and intuitive. Instantly upon using it years of teaching flooded back into my mind and things that I thought were long forgotten were reclaimed. If you find that the app "doesn't make you think enough" perhaps you should expend a few brain cells and make some effort to think for yourself. If you spend enough time with this app the concepts of factoring and simplifying and so on become second nature. It is not, however, a replacement for critical thinking. My only complaint about this app is that it doesn't go far enough. I very much hope that the developer takes the time to cover more advanced math in future releases.
Great for learning and relearning algebra By: cogito111 - Aug 6, 2010 Version: 1.0 This app teaches algebra in a visually intuitive and easy-to-grasp manner. You move around algebraic symbols using your finger, just like you would move around real building blocks. It's a great way to get an appreciate for what are legal and illegal moves in algebra. For students who like to think about abstract concepts using their eyes and hands, this is a great introduction or refresher to algebra. Even if you know algebra well, it's fun to move around the symbolic atoms of algebra to create complicated expressions, and then simplify them.
Really good app!! By: John-280 - Sep 17, 2010 Version: 1.1 This little app real gave me a few "aha" moments! Please please add more to it!!!
Perfect By: JasonBoyer - Sep 15, 2010 Version: 1.1 There is not much to this app, but I bought it anyways, and within 30 minutes I was doing equations like a pro. There is so much more you could actually do with this app. (developer) Im looking forward to using it. It's actually fun. And geeze I hate math.
Really intuitive By: Bret Rehart - Sep 12, 2010 Version: 1.1 Very nice program. Allows for intuitive drag and drop simplification of equations. Needs more levels and features and advanced topics! I would love to see this type of program used for teaching all the way to advanced math topics. Really COOL!

Great For My Students By: tasharanee - Aug 9, 2010 Version: 1.0 Students from grades 2-5 in my school are introduced to Algebra with a program called Hands-On Equations. Some students outgrow that program before it ends, and I think that Algebra Touch would be an excellent way for them to practice the skills they learned in the introductory class. I'll update this review with actual student results once the school year is underway.

Fantastic By: Bansith - Aug 4, 2010 Version: 1.0 I have tried learning algebra from all kinds of booksNone of them worked for me. Algebra Touch does. Algebra Touch works the way my mind works. Fantastic!Fun! Highly recommended!
Algebra touch By: EdieLF - Aug 4, 2010 Version: 1.0 Great app for practicing and reviewing algebra. Besides being educational, it's fun to play it.
Excellent app By: RobP - Oct 4, 2010 Version: 1.1 As others have already said, this is a great app that draws you into the Math without making it unfriendly. I would be willing to pay for a more advanced version or versions if this app. Please consider it. BTW, I am a high school Math teacher and this app is a great tutoring tool.
Two thumbs down By: EFIRST - Sep 28, 2010 Version: 1.1 Terrible.
Neat, but that's it. By: Jhn H - Aug 8, 2010 Version: 1.0 This app is neat for sure, but I wish I didn't buy it.It's not indepth in teaching and it doesn't make you actually think for the answer. It's too easy and not educational enough. Neat teaching tech demo, but that is it.Can I get my $5 back please?
