Just Too Cool (Even if a Bit Useless) By: Jax Stephens - Aug 6, 2009 Version: 1.0 Okay, this app probably deserves four stars only, but I give it five because it's just so fluid and beautiful in its operation and simplicity. Additionally, I continue to find myself pulling out this app and using it to demonstrate the iPhone's coolness factor to those around me. I mean, it's like you've got a freaking earthquake/motion detector right in your pocket! What amazing time in human history do we live in? Anyway, the display is simple, but the beauty is in the sensitivity of the movements shown. It's quite cool, for example, to put your iPhone on a table and to then pound or tap on the surface to watch the motion registered. For a free app, what can you lose? Download this today! My device: iPhone 3G S.
Great for serious preliminary non official bridge analisys - A must have for Civil Engineers By: milton007 - Dec 7, 2009 Version: 1.1 We just checked a bridge that had some trouble with a rock hitting it from high above. Did some tests with trucks, and the vibration and frequency data helped us just great!!! Althought it's not official data, it gives you a great deal of an idea. I just loved it that the app sends the data over e-mail. we pasted it into excel and did great analisys work. Recomend it as a must have for Civil engineers!!

Reviews Mean Something By: Jazza•1996•^~^ - 24-Aug-2009 Version: 1.0 I wrote a review to the Seismometer app by Johan Nordberg saying that yer great app about after the line goes of the screen thats it no record of it and so i asked them to make the app save the strip as a txt file or email it. And this app has done what others could not bothered to do and it is great. Amazing app now i can read the readings from any time i saved it anyway i have an internet conntection and the other app was paid. Thanks guys GREAT APP. HIGHLY RECOMMENED.
Great app! By: Faethor - 09-Oct-2009 Version: 1.1 I tried this on a whim basically. It was free and thought I would give it a shot. I'm constantly amazed by how accurate the iPhones acceleromters are and this is easily seen by this application. It's even capable of picking up my heartbeat!I would like to see the following improvements though:1. The ability to choose only one or two axes to sample, rather than all three.2. Be able to change the sample rate.3. Add a low and/or high pass filter. At times it seems too accurate, picking up a lot of "noise" even on a flat stable surface. 4. With a lot of input the app starts to slow. Perhaps a high speed mode with no needles being drawn?A great piece of software and I look forward to further updates.UPDATE: Upgraded to 3.0 on my 3G and now the scrolling is very jerky. Under 2.2.1 it was smooth.UPDATE 2: Latest update promises to make thing smoother again but it doesn't. I have read that it is jerky on the 3GS also.

Great but... By: The eng. - Apr 8, 2009 Version: 1.0 The sensitivity of the accelerometer is far beyond the expectation. Just put on a flat surface than you can see even the slightest motion can resonate the pin. But if i will use this acc. data in my analysis at least 30 sec. of data must be able to be stored by this device. May be in the next version velocity and displacement time histories or response spectrum at any damping or ductility...to see in this app would be great!
I will follow this app but for now 4 stars...

Goods stuff. By: CaptainJanks - Oct 22, 2009 Version: 1.1 Good seismometer app, especially for the price! I agree w/ the other reviewer that it seems to cheat a little, but that could be inaccuracies in the phone's accelerometer itself.
Excellent By: Surfmb70 - Oct 21, 2009 Version: 1.1 Easy to use provides very cool information. I'm going to monitor the fault line that runs through charleston sc. It's way overdue for a quake
Awesome!!!!! By: Brian2330 - Oct 21, 2009 Version: 1.1 This is an awesome app. I'm going to recommend this app to everybody I know who has an iPhone.
Baby kick guage By: Bro Paul 774 - Oct 19, 2009 Version: 1.1 You stole my new invention!! Lol. My wife is pregnant and always would put the iphone, remote control, or something on her belly to show how hard the baby kicked by how bad it moved-- SO I thought that a seisometer would make a great pregnancy AP....but I guess you guys BEAT ME TO IT!!! Haha
Love it By: wondersax - Oct 18, 2009 Version: 1.1 I love this app. It's really interesting. But I think it cheats by making it do a little bit when really nothings happening
