I spent 2 days at the Louvre in 2007 and this really covers the highlights. Well put together app with good info and graphics. For those complaining about the French videos, there's a speech bubble button on the video controls. Press that and you can switch to English. Just wish you could make English the default language instead of having to fo this for every video. Would love to see the British Museum, Orsay, Uffizi, Smithsonian etc come out with app like this one.

a little bit of the Louvre at your fingertips. I visited the Lourve in 1977 and distinctly remember the Mona Lisa and lots of naked people..LOL...i really like the video portion, although the narration is in french. The only thing i would like to see is the ability to make wallpaper from the artwork. Someone mentioned that the art was somewhat sparse. True, but the Louvre holds over 35,000 pieces of art so i understand the restrictions, albeit they could have included many more paintings, sculptures, etc...buy hey, even with those two minor issues, this is a first rate app, highly recommended

I like art but do not know anything about the pictures which catch my eye, I like what I like and thats that. This is a great little app it not only shows you some great art but it gives you some of the history of them. My wife and I went to Paris a few years ago and loved it.... it is a really lovely city. We walked around all the major sites with ease but we missed out of the Louve main areas as it was getting late, this app has made up for it and will prove really helful when we go back.

I have A LOT of apps on my iPhone, but not ONE is as exquisite as this app. I can't believe it's free! The care, time and attention to detail is brilliant. I've never been to the Louvre, but feel as if I have. The video of Napoleons Apt is beautiful! The app also features "details" of the different paintings so you can actually study the brush strokes of each piece. Incredible! My eternal gratitude to the makers of this app and for making it free for all to enjoy!

I'm very impressed. It may not have the entire collection, but we are talking about an app for a hand held device. My iPhone would not be the first place I would go to if I was to study all the works at the Louvre. With that said, I would still like for this to be updated occasionally with new content. And I really appreciate the format they've used. I like the cover flow feel. Again, nicely done.

Even in small panels beauty looms large at the Mus'ee du Louvre!We have a window into the spectacular treasures hidden within and to see the all but dying art of sculpting in marble. Two surprises for me were St Mary of Magdalene's statue clothed by hair and that huge moat!!Napoleon lll apts are incredible in gold and it's plum drapery and Queen Anne's summer apts are a glimpse into a lifestyle we can only imagine...What's amazing are the marble horses which show every muscle with their manes and tails flowing that look like at any moment they could jump up and run right past you!!This beautiful app is inspiring and is the next best thing to being there!Xooniatrueblood

Very nice app. The video and other information is informative, and can be switched to other languages. However, I wish it had more pieces or at least a searchable database of more works from their massive collection, as part of the app. The Louvre has that information on their website, so they have made that information available to the public. This app is great for art lovers and art history students.

I visited The Louvre about 2 years ago while in Paris and while I am by no means a person in art or galleries was speechless at how beautiful the place was. I spent more time looking at the breathtaking roof of the Louvre than the amazing art. This application is very good and bought back so many memories however while the application is in English.. All the videos are in French! Can we at least get a choice of language? Apart from that I love this app... Makes me want to go on holidays again! When I go to Paris again... I'm taking this app with me.

My only real complaint-- and it's more like a request-- is that I wish there were more choices of artwork to view. There was a balance of paintings, sculpture, jewelry, and architecture, but it still totaled only about 20 pieces. The app could use an initial instructions page; as it is I fumbled through videos in French until I stumbled across the language selector. The attention to detail was great; I found more unexpected features in each section and was able to return to prior sections to learn more. Pricing/schedule info was useful. Overall, though, I exhausted the content of the app in just a few uses and deleted after three days. Decent content for a free app.
