Reviews:
Outstanding application! By: Jared 09 - Oct 26, 2009 Version: 1.0 Absolutely love this application! All of the great NASA mission information, countdown clocks and the ISS and other trackers. It’s also great to have all of the NASA & Astronomy images there and easy to browse. The videos and twitter feeds are great too. Also love that I can email and share stuff with others. Can’t wait for future versions and more features (how about visible path times using the GPS on the phone and NASA TV streaming). Keep up the great work!!!
Great way to learn about NASA's missions with thousands of beautiful space & astronomy photos By: grvaughan - Oct 23, 2009 Version: 1.0 This is a great start for NASA's iPhone app, already you can learn about lots of NASA's missions and projects, see 50 videos, over 1,300 NASA spaceflight images, and over 5,200 beautiful Astronomy Picture of the Day images. This is a great educational tool & a great way for anyone to learn more about the space program. Plus, there's so much potential here for future enhancements! Highly recommended - @aeroG on Twitter
Very nice. By: Yamgdawg - 02-Nov-2009 Version: 1.0 Good app, plenty of information and very nice pictures. And of course they went to the moon, there is so much evidence you would have to be very simple minded to say otherwise. Don't give me the whole 'the flag was waving' rubbish, there's plenty of proof that they went there and if you watch the mythbusters episode on it, they prove a lot there. Some people like you are unbelievable, one guy even said that there was no reflective mirror to bounce back lasers - It was a shiny rock that happened to be in the exact same place. Please - they did go to the moon, accept it.Edit: to Kyle - I mentioned the tv program as an example, there are loads and loads of facts, programs etc that prove that the whole thing was NOT a conspiracy theory as so many ignorant people believe. Post your ignorance elsewhere.
Wow! By: Carlito1222 - 28-Oct-2009 Version: 1.0 I just love space. Its so complicated, so unbelievable, there truly is no bigger mystery.. And I'm always a little skeptical when I hear of NASA, but I gotta say, I am so impressed with this app! Thanku NASA for finally putting forth some effort and giving us, the public, a tiny, miniscule glimps of the vast knowledge you've been hording from us all for so long lol. Now all u have to do is show us the stuff from all the missions we dont know about!! This really is a brilliant app tho, I'm so impressed :)Thankyou, well done.
Great app By: Rpadilla - Nov 2, 2009 Version: 1.0 People are so hard to please, Oprah gave free cars and those that received them were really happy... Next day "oh I can't have another car at home, can I get the money instead?", "I have to pay taxes on it?", "I like more red than blue, can I get a red one?". This app is a great effort from people that want to expand the reach of knowledge, you want to follow realtime the space station? Man, join NASA or become a spy for another country or get a life!
Tracking Way Off (UPDATE!) By: Portercc - Nov 2, 2009 Version: 1.0 Just received email that adjustments have been made to tracker and it's working now. Looking forward to checking it out! *****************************************Got up this morning to watch the station pass over Houston. Display showed it approaching Texas as I watched it disappear over the horizon. Very disappointing. App has good mission information, but the tracking is too far off to even make it somewhat entertaining.
Great app - text area too small By: the friendly professor - Oct 24, 2009 Version: 1.0 Features I would like to see in the iPhone app. First I think it is a great app and the following would make it perfect: 1. The window to view text about a mission is too small. It takes a lot of scrolling to read an article. Is it really necessary to constantly display the count down/up clock which takes up a lot of valuable real estate? Menus and icons should be hidden and the text should take up the whole viewing area then when the user taps the menus can display and when the user taps again the menus would be hidden. 2. landscape option would be nice 3. live nasa tv streaming would be nice
Fills media issues; no TV By: Morpheus-Indy - Oct 23, 2009 Version: 1.0 Many iPhone users know the pain of using the official NASA home pages, which are mainly Flash-operated and don't work with MobileSafari. This app all but fixes that issue. While the app is a bit heavy on the style over substance line in the opening menu, it's ability to give access to NASA's image and video content is spot-on. The only downside is a lack of a connection to the NASA TV stream. While there is a site I know of to get the TV stream for the iPhone, I would give this fine app its fifth star if streaming were built-in. Nice work!
Almost perfect! By: Boldboy - 29-Oct-2009 Version: 1.0 Superb app absolutely packed with info, photos, vids etc. And free in to the bargain!BUT: the one thing I downloaded this app for isn't there! I assumed there would be a 'Sighting Opportunities' option, like on the main NASA site, but there isn't. Ok, there's an orbital tracker map but that doesn't tell me when the ISS or Shuttle are going to be viewable over my town. This would be a superb addition in the next update so that we have viewing info to hand when we're out and about. So, 4 stars just now but 5 when the Sighting Opportunities option is added.
Excellent app so much better then the web pages By: AnthLC - 27-Oct-2009 Version: 1.0 This app makes it so much easier to view what happening at NASA. I been to NASA webpages and can be a bit of a maze trying to explore the universe NASA has discovered. Only thing I improve is the servers the app is using as I found sometimes needed wifi to stop timeouts and you going to get alot of traffic. This app is another example where I find getting information is easier via iPhone interface.Great job NASA :)
Nice app, basically the website By: JetForMe - Nov 6, 2009 Version: 1.0 It's a nice app, with information covering most of what NASA's up to, but it seems to be basically just what's on the website. Definitely handy, though. If you want to get a little more technical, MissionClock has detailed countdown clocks, mission elapsed timers, and lots of launch-specific information, and not just for NASA stuff, but Air Force, Russian, Japanese, and ESA launches, too.
A Great Addition By: nickthaskater - 26-Oct-2009 Version: 1.0 I am glad NASA finally has something like this app to reach out to an even broader audience. Space exploration and all the science that goes with it can not be put to the back burner ever again, and the more informed the public is about the missions, goals, and accomplishments, the better the chance of survival and growth. This is a fantastic start, with a clean and intuitive layout, a lot of information for the layman, and a solid media gallery. The only thing that I could wish for is a higher resolution photo gallery so as to fully appreciate all of the amazingly intricate details present. I pray that this app receives regular updates and is not left to simply wither by the wayside. Keep it up, NASA!
Almost perfect app By: we the people - Nov 1, 2009 Version: 1.0 I'm going to reitereate what another reviewer recently wrote in that the app would be %100 if it could figure out your current location and/or have a function to input a location so that the app could tell you when a spacecraft/vehicle is above that location. on what day/date/time into the future. As a photographer I'd like to be able to shoot the ISS for example as it passes over the moon/sun. So it would be nice to know the angles for all these different objects in the sky. If there's an app out there for this already please someone let me know!
Great for Ver. 1.0 By: Fellowsjr - Oct 28, 2009 Version: 1.0 Awesome app! Love that I can get the twitter feeds here instead. Gotta echo others though, needs a NASA TV/live stream link!! Would be a 5 star if it had it. There are other apps appearently that do, and I have a favorites link through safari I use, so I know the iPhone can do it. Hopefully next update will earn it the 5 star. Great first release though. FYI, the free NASA TV live stream is from a website "Akamai" or something to that effect. Sorry on spelling if I'm wrong.
Great but lacks NASA tv By: Jutn - Oct 27, 2009 Version: 1.0 This app ia wonderfully made and is great for getting videos, updates, countdowns, and information concerning all the missions. I like that the image of the day is in there too. I would give this app 5 stars if it could stream NASA tv. I am trying to watch the ares 1-X launch this morning but I ended up hooking my laptop up to a second monitor and setting up some speakers. I would like to be able to watch while I walk around. Oh well, it's free, so I'll take whatever I can.
NASA ftw!!! By: тαѕтє•тнє•яαιηвσω ;D - Oct 27, 2009 Version: 1.0 Get it, use it, explore it. Ty NASA for this grey app!! Very good for those interested in astronomy and current/NASA's missions. 10*
Bravo indeed By: T-Square Atlanta - Oct 27, 2009 Version: 1.0 This is the best thing to happen since NASA tv. These are exciting times.
WOW! By: Purrmiau - Oct 27, 2009 Version: 1.0 Wow! Just that. Wow. Aren't any more than five stars to rate this app?
Amazing photos! By: BellinghamMomma - Oct 27, 2009 Version: 1.0 Beautiful photos, informative and orbital paths thrown in for fun. Nice job!
Amazing By: Sharks6 - Oct 27, 2009 Version: 1.0 You heard it.
