TED on your iphone.. simple as

Allows you to stream the TED talks to your iphone.. and for this fact alone it is amazing. TED talk are for the most part, infromative, inspiring, interesting and world changing.
There are one or two niggles with the ap. The home screen tends to freeze for a moment when you scroll past the bottom.
There is also the odd video which steams only in oudio and not video.
But the fact is, everyone should get this!

The content is exceptional. The application itself is also extremely well done. It streams video over wireless or 3G (I mainly use wireless) flawlessly. It has simple, useful features like bookmarking. Because new talks are released several times a week, its fun to start the app and see whether the latest talks are intriguing.
If I were to request a feature, it would be the ability to browse by subject, similar to the system on the TED website. Currently, there is just a long list of videos, and it is not that easy to find talks by classification.
Overall, though, one of the best apps on the store. A must have.

Agreed with a few other reviewers that some search functionality needs to be added like the themes (visualization & list from Ted.com website), speaker bios and even the ability to tie your own profile into the App rather than linking to the website.
Another great option would be to add 1 photo shot of each presentation/talk to their corresponding description page. Titles alone are fine, but it would be much easier to recognize a talk I like with some sort of visual. But I'm sure these are coming in the updates. I would also imagine with the size of these files that WiFi is highly recommended. All in all the perfect transition from website to iPhone.

I strongly claim that this app is one of the best apps in iTunes. I've always enjoyed lectures from TED via its website or Podcast which takes a lot of space of my laptop's HDD. Now, I don't neither need to download Podcasts nor to access TED website but all I have to do is just tap this app's icon in my iPod touch and enjoy it. Of course this app requires internet connection but that doesn't matter to me.

Awesome app. Frees up space on my computer and iPhone. No more downloading podcasts. Only two concerns. 1. Takes too long to update/load when starting. Make a manual refresh button. 2. Sometimes stops downloading part way through. Could just be my phone. Happens about halfway or ten minutes in. On a side note, I wish the app store would save your partially completed review when someone calls. It's annoying to have to type this all twice.

Seeing the incredible talks makes you realize there really are people trying to make a massive possitive impact on the world and to benefit all that live on the planet, but....... 1. To the technically dumb and non observant people leaving poor ratings because there is no search, just check the top left of the screen. 2. To the children who are marking down this app because you don't get it? You need to learn a lot more about life and the bigger picture and also learn some respect for what all TED talkers are telling you about. It's your world so learn to look after it and maybe do something that makes a real difference. 3. To both of the above types of people, spongebob is still showing on sky so go and watch that instead. Rating down this app means you have no respect for what the talkers are doing and have done to make this world a better place so you are publically showing the world you do not care. Thank god there are people that do care so keep it up TED and thank you to everyone for the effort they are making with innovation and sharing their ideas.

However, I've noticed that, with the past two updates, sometimes the audio of a video will begin playing again after you exit a video and return to the app's home screen. While it's still possible to navigate the app's menus, there's no way to stop the audio unless you start a new video or close the app. Overall, though, this remains one of my favorite apps.

The content is great. I'm a TED first timer, never heard of it before downloading this app but fell in love with it from the first lecture. My major contention is that half the time the video lectures will not completely download the first time around. Is this a TED problem or my wi-fi problem? It would have a solid five if not for that and the occassional crash.(I rebooted before using the program and it works fine for a while then I have to reboot again because it would crash) Aside from that, I love variety of topics discussed and look forward to hearing more!

TED is neck-and-neck with Wikipedia as my favorite content source in any medium. It's great that I can now watch these videos while in transit or otherwise in wait-mode away from a connected computer. The are visually and aurally clear and crisp on the iphone.
I love that all 300-some-odd videos are easily accessible. The simple list interface is, frankly, more convenient than the 12-at-a-time web site interface.
Occasionally a presenter's diagram is too small to read on the small screen. This is likely outside the scope of iphone application development at this time, nevertheless: a multi-touch zoom on the video, akin to photos, would make this a 5-star app and a contender for all-around best. (To be fair, even on my Mac I occasionally pause and zoom the screen while watching TED.)

The TEDTalks themselves are brilliant having convenient access to them from the iPhone is a joy

I love the idea of TEDTalks - inviting people from a broad collection of fields to talk about what they do, and then working to make those talks available to the widest possible audience. I'm a huge fan of the TED app and other efforts to grow the reach and accessibility of TED. The app itself has room to grow, but it's off to a good enough start and the content itself makes up for a somewhat clumsy first implementation. Please keep up the good work.

Love TED... But podcast better

Although the TED talks will always receive 5stars from me, this application could be a little more user friendly... I would like to see the ability to store video for offline viewing (which is why I think it is better to download TED as a video podcast), or at least have the ability to see which talks I have watched so I can easily search for the ones I haven't... The interface could also be a little clearer... Might stick to my podcast and check in on this app with the next update...

Downloaded for my G1 and loved it, had to get it for iPod though with how poor G1 battery life is. I echo the earlier view of how so many 5 star votes plus 3 votes between. 1 & 2 stars averages at 2.5 stars?

It's basically just a media player right... but with some of the most interesting videos ever. Great for anyone who likes learning about a lot of different things! Like another reviewer said, I could spend hours on this.
