OMG OSSUM By: BOOGABOOGABOOGAAA - Oct 24, 2008 Version: 1.1.1 I was AMAZED by the functionality and seamlessness of this application, for a dollar it is EASILY worth it. It displays as much as applications for TI 89's in a much quicker, cleaner, simpler way. Beautiful interface and a wealth of knowledge right at your fingertips. All of the data you'll ever need with regards to chemistry and the elements. Electron configuration would be nice, but most people should be able to do that themselves without running into problems. Even so it will probably be added soon enough. Great App! Perhaps the most useful one out there...
Great App! Great price! By: Xrandomxnamex - Dec 17, 2008 Version: 1.3 This is a very useful app for any chemistry / biology students! Instead of carrying a book with this info distributed across 10 pages, you can reference the app anytime. I love that there are more than 3 or 4 sig figs! This is better than the table my TA gave me, haha. One last note for the creator of this beautiful app: PLEASE oh please keep releasing updates! I could see this app getting HUGE if you added electron configurations, shell diagrams, and maybe even a "test lab" where you can see how elements combine and react (or not react) with others. Keep up the good work. NEW UPDATES ROCK!
Great App, additional info if possible By: N. Hannigan - Jan 14, 2009 Version: 1.3 I tried out the Lite version of this app and had to purchase the full version. I am a graduate student in an engineering school and I cannot tell you enough how cool this is to have all the time! I only have one thing to ask of the developer: If I send you data on the elements that we engineers find very helpful, could you try to put that into the app? It would be great to have things like crystal structures, oxidation states and atomic radius, just to name a few. I have a nice image of this data if you want it. Please get back to me if you can. I do not want to put my email address up because I don't know how iTunes works specifically, but I will be watching the reviews and my email for replies. I hope to hear from you soon with whatever you decide. Thank you for your time.
Great work! By: virtualcappy - Feb 27, 2009 Version: 1.4 Why would anyone give this app less than 5 stars?!? I'm a grad student in chemistry and find this app very useful. Used it just yesterday sitting at the mass spec to calculate the mass of BF4-, for example. Nice job with this app. Smooth interface, lots of info. If there is even the slightest chance you will need to know the third ionization energy of antimony or the radius of vanadium in the near future this app is a no-brainer for $0.99..
Great app for any science major By: Bluepyroadam - Oct 1, 2008 Version: 1.1.1 Awesome app. It's on the right track of harnessing information and presenting an easy on the eyes and intuitive GUI. I'm holding my breath that the developer will update this so that it'll be useful to the people who actually use this frequently. A more advanced and in-depth application would make this app a wise purchase for any science-related major. I really really hope this app will b improved.
The Bomb!!!! By: rash219 - Dec 19, 2008 Version: 1.3 When I first got this app. It seemed OK. After the first few updates it was wow!!! Now with the latest update.....only thing i can say is "WOW THIS IS DA SH!T". I mean the amount of information that I can get is just outstanding. Electroneg., Density, Boling Point, Mass, and now Electo Config's....it is just BEAUTIFUL.......I admire your work and dedication to creating this app.......keep it comming
Awesome By: makoman115 - Apr 28, 2009 Version: 1.5 Christopher Fennell, you're a nerd. This app is awesome. It is perfect for my chemistry class in high school. My chemistry teachers are consistently astounded by it's accuracy and depth of information. And what's better, it is updated frequently to add even more info! I definitely recommend this to anyone in any chemistry class or any chemistry nerd that just wants to show off their touch screen periodic table to all their friends. AWESOME JOB!
Great App By: Dreil - Oct 5, 2008 Version: 1.1.1 This app has the same functionality plus the amino acids as the free widget that Chris puts out. I was more than happy to buy it, as that widget is so helpful it's crazy! Keep up the good work. Oh, and whoever was having problems finding the labeling of the elements, choose mass and then click the color button. It identifies them there. He ran out of UI room to do it any other way.
Amazing app By: Piratemike - Apr 27, 2009 Version: 1.5 This is a fantastic app for anyone who uses chemicals or needs this information on a daily basis. What's good is the volume of information available. There is only one suggestion I have so far: include the hydrophobicity of the amino acids as another way to sort them, and use color to determine which is more or less hydrophobic/hydrophilic. Great app, especially for $0.99. Keep 'em coming!Edit for v1.5:This is awesome. With the updates you have instituted, this app keeps getting better and better. As I said earlier, $0.99 is an amazing price for the kind of app you have here. Love it!
Extremely Useful By: BiochemStdnt - Oct 27, 2008 Version: 1.1.1 This is one of the best deals for any science student, its fast, has a lot of information for all of the elements of the periodic table. If for some reason you cannot find what your looking for, with the touch of a button you can be brought to the wikipedia page for that same element! And if thats not enough it also has information on all essential amino acids, including codons! This has a wealth of information for so little money, it is well worth it on all accounts!

Excellent reference + some suggestions By: landonnoll - Jan 19, 2009 Version: 1.3 Thank you for providing an excellent resource / reference! Please consider the following improvements in your next release:• Add the primary decay mode to the listed radioactice isotopes• Change listed half life to use scientific notation (I.e., 3.4e-18 s, instead of things such as 25 ys -- or list both forms, or give a config option to choose) as this is easier to compare half livesThe above are my most wanted additions. Here are some additional requests:• Add historic info such as date of discovery, who discovered and where it was first discovered• Add a note about general/common uses of an element• Add a note about general apperance and texture (where applicable)• Add neutron capture cross-section for isotopes• Add information about how much of the element is found (if any) in a typical unit of Earth's atmosphere, crust, and sea water
Cleanest Interface among the competing chem apps By: swankalot - Feb 23, 2009 Version: 1.3 This app is clean, intuitive, and well-designed. Better than the competing ChemiCal in both function and feel. Operates entirely in landscape mode, which makes perfect sense considering traditional periodic table layout. The table itself utilizes the same "pop-up" functionality of the iPhone keypad, and the user can drag her finger across the table until the intended element shows. Easy navigation between color-scaled periodic tables via menu buttons (mass, density, radius, etc.). The navigation is well thought out.
Must have for any biochemist! By: Sesquipede - Aug 26, 2009 Version: 1.6 I've never cared about anything enough to review it, but this app is amazing. It is an invaluable and immediately handy reference for anyone in science, but as a biochemistry phd student, I have to say this feels like it was made for us. I don't actually care too much about the period table, ironically. The amino acid and nucleic acid functions are crazy awesome. Especially having the r group pKa's so handy!!! I'd give this 6 stars if I could. Only thing I would add if I lived in eutopia would be a flash card function for those dratted structures I keep forgetting. This app is easily worth ten times what it costs. Seriously. If you're a biochemist, buy it. My PI wants an iPhone after seeing it, even he thought it was drool-worthy.
Get This By: #1Nerd - Jul 25, 2009 Version: 1.6 Top-notch application. The periodic table is more than adequate, and the presentation is nice although locating certain features takes a minute. Also, the amino acid reference which sounded like an afterthought actually has almost as much info as the iAmino app and a superior interface.Update 7/25The recent update was awesome. I can't believe they are still selling this for a buck. This has proven to be an outstanding purchase. I do believe however that the developer made up the word nucleobase. I guess he's a chemist ;)
The EM vs TCT shootout By: mkramer98712387 - Jan 31, 2009 Version: 1.3 I'm going to write the review I wish someone had written for me. I've bought two most popular chemical references - EleMints and this one. Many reviews gave more positive reviews to EleMints, but I feel differently. This one is better by any standard I can devise, save for the shineness factor of the actual table (this one is not shiny), and for some explanatory information available to the beginning student of Chemistry on EM. It gives more and more useful information, has a more responsive GUI, and more convenient display format for the element breakout information. And that's before we consider that this also includes a complete reference for the 20 natural amino acids. Before we cover completeness of information, let's go through the main display of the table. -I want to point out that EM takes 5 seconds to boot up on my iPhone 3G and TCT takes 2 seconds. -In EM's favor, turning the phone in the 4 different orientations supplies a different ordering of the table, which may be useful for some, but I prefer the customary way with lighter elements across the top arranged according to the 8 groups. -TCT supplies 6 color coding options: by mass, density, MP, BP, Radius, and E.N. -EM has them color coded by their classification (e.g. alkalis are blue, transition metals are green) -EM can zoom in and out with the pinch, TCT cannot -EM supplies number, chemical mass, full name, symbol, most common ion, and classification in the mini info pane for an element you press -TCT supplies number, E.N., most known ions, symbol, and name, and has the column and row numbers across the top and side, but not the classic roman numeral groups (which I miss on both) -EM features a slick graph of E.N.s that I'll never use for serious work -TCT supplies the structures and classifications of the 20 AA's, as well as pKa's, mass, 3 letter name, 1 letter name, and codons for each, and they are sortable by name, type, and mass. Very useful. Now, the breakout panes are where most of the element info is. TCT has better breakout panes. The breakout panes for each element are conveniently organized into 5 compact screens on TCT, and in one ugly and space-inefficient list in EM. Comparison of info available in element break-out section for this and EleMints: Format is: <feature> TCT | EM ############ Most common isotype: YES | YES Name: YES|YES Symbol: YES|YES Element Classification: YES|YES Period: NO|YES Group: NO|YES block: NO|YES atomic number: YES|YES* neutron count: YES|YES* electron configuration: YES|YES Discovered/Artificial: NO|YES Chemical atomic weight: YES|YES Electronegativity: YES|YES Empirical radius: YES|YES calc. radius: NO|YES covalent radius: NO|YES VDWaals radius: NO|YES triple covalent radius: NO|YES Common ions: YES|YES** State: YES|YES MP: YES|YES BP: YES|YES Density: YES|YES Specific Heat: YES|NO CIonization Energy: YES(for all electrons!)|NO Isotopes: YES|NO Xray Emissions: YES|NO Halflifes of unstable isotopes: YES|NO Link to wikipedia: YES|YES Link to WebElements: NO|YES *annoyingly, this information is duplicated in the "proton count," "neutron count," and "nucleon count" and "electron count" categories of EM. **data is incomplete compared to literature And, TCT is only .2x the price.
Custom periodic table!! By: Awayze - 17-Sep-2008 Version: 1.1 Pretty good, a lot better than the other one I tried. I was told that you don't count the transition metal as groups, so Oxygen is currently in group 16 but I was told it's in group 6 :-$When viewing the table by mass, maybe you could specify to how many decimal places or significant figures you would like the numbers to be. Eg, Oxygen is 15.9994 in the app but again my periodic tables say 16. Need more features :-)
Great App By: leaping badger - 29-Nov-2008 Version: 1.2.1 I am really impressed with this application, it has the information i need laid out in a way that is easy to understand and navigate. I mainly use it for amino acids, which it covers very well, the colour coding is a very good feature. The only thing lacking is whether or not an amino acid is essential, although this is not crucial it would be a nice little feature. For 59p it is a bargain as well. Thankyou very much to the creator
Invaluable, functional resource By: Adnium - 28-Mar-2009 Version: 1.4 As an A-level chemistry student, this application is an invaluable resource, putting nearly all the information that would otherwise require trawling through a cumbersome data book, at your fingertips (quite literally). More importantly however, the author clearly understands that navigating through the volume of data provided requires a well thought out interface, and the app delivers with a functional, user-oriented front end which allows easy access to both basics and specifics (as an example, an element's name will pop up in much the same way as the iPhone keyboard when pressed, and specific elemental data is provided at the push of a single button). Inclusion of the standard electrode potentials of the common elements and their ions would enhance the apps usefulness, but other than that, a fantastically useful and well designed app.
Fantastic and convenient app - a great buy By: Dennison C - 17-Sep-2008 Version: 1.1 As a university chemistry student, I always find myself in a situation where I need to quickly find particular properties of elements, such as mass number. This app makes it easy to find this, without having to shuffle through hundreds of menus and squinting your eyes to fin what you're looking for. Not only that, it also has the structures of amino acids! A bargain at this price - a must buy for chemistry students at any level!
good start By: podemous - Sep 12, 2008 Version: 1.1 This app is very nice, easily worth the $1, but would be better if the following features were added: ability to display both the average mass and monoisotopic mass display the amino acid residue masses (-H2O) (both average and monoisotopic) an emprical formula mass calculator (average and monoisotopic) ...one where you could put amino acids in as well a zoom function to make things a bit bigger
