Cool, some suggestions though By: Shelley and her smexy itouch - Feb 13, 2009 Version: 1.0 This is addicting but these are some cool ideas to improve your app although I know you guys are working on it. 1. Like others said, please let us edit our hut with certain items that we can find on the island ourselves.2. Please add more items that we can find useful for certain tasks such as fishing or something. It will be funner than looking for shells all day.3. Please add like maybe a huge treasure chest that we find with various items inside it. Then the treasure chest has certain slots on it where you import a certain amount of gold and then the slot opens and you get a fishing net or pirate item or something like that! Then if we want to even gift soMe one, we can save up money to purchase a certain gift. And maybe we can even like send gold to a special someone that you talked to a lot, that will be really interesting.4. Another thing that I noticed was a turtle thing that makes a bell noise behind your hut. I'd like to have that as a pet please! It helps a lot by having some company, because sometimes I feel so lonely in the game lol. Like maybe it can live in our hut and we feed it coconut milk and leaves that we find from trees. We can name it too. And maybe if it's fast enough it can follow us. 5. I have noticed that we walk really slowly. When I am looking for mrssages or shells I always get irritated for how slow our character is. How about us being able to find old pirate boots from the chest I was talking about earlier? And when we have those boots on, we cannot take our pet turtle out for a walk in exchange of walking faster with those boots. Ok well that's it! Btw it tookMe a really long time to type all this on my iPod. So please someone read everything and agree! Thank you!Keep up the good games btw! I all it two games.
Really nice app. By: drakeshipway - 8-Feb-2009 Version: 1.0 I really love the concept of this app! I love meeting people from all over the world, and sharing conversation with them. It's a great way to meet new people. The app has beautiful sound and graphics. I am almost tempted to put it on my main homescreen!
The only thing I could ask for is a larger inentory/mailbox, so you can hold more bottles, and comunicate with more people at the same time.
Once again, beautiful app, and I can't wait to see future updates!
Fairytale App By: QG - Aug 8, 2009 Version: 1.1 Ok, this is not what everyone is gonna experience, but I used this App when bored and depressed and happened upon someone in London, me being in New York. We used this App initially to meet, and now she's turned to be the very love of my life. And I am completely telling the truth. Sounds made up, I can't believe it myself, but if anything good can be said for this App, it would be that I found my darling Rose. BUT, this App can be terrible too. Me and Rose use the App Skype for us to keep talking because Distant Shore has a HUGE tendency to lose sent messages, and it is very slow in comparison with instant messanging services like AIM, Yahoo messenger, Skype... But, this, by complete chance, had me meet someone who's in love with me as I am with her, and I couldn't be happier. Results may vary, LOL. Also, walking on the beach looking for bottles can grow tiresome, but the idea is novel and it's pretty cool.
Brilliant but..... By: TowerOfArnie - 09-Feb-2009 Version: 1.0 This is a really good app but for some reason I got a blimp mail saying some of my messages had been flagged as inapproriate and I could get barred when I haven't been at all rude or offensive in any way. All I have done is say hi and how are you etc. I think users that report for no reason could spoil this app for other people. But with updates this could be fantastic I am hooked and love the fact I can have conversations with people all over the world.
Love This Game - BUT... By: Danica Fan - Jul 15, 2009 Version: 1.1 I wish it had a little more. Like be able to see the carector you are assigned or create either female or male. also, be able to eat fruits off of the palm tree's, such as coconut and bannanna's and berries. even fishing for fish that come in many forms. and also be able to cook crabs. Be able to manipulate objects on the beach and create new huts and larger huts and maybe even mini mansion huts.....lol also, be able to walk in many different directions other than left or right. Also be able to walk in the forest and create your own little city in the tree's like Tarzan did......lol Also be able to see monkeys and other critters around. One question though - Where are the crabs in the beach.? another thing that would be nice is, you can invite people to your beach. so then you can have people to keep you company. maybe find a nice female friend to spend great time in the beach. be able to play volley ball in the beach with all your invited friends. be able to save mid-game so you can always continue where you left off at. so you dont have to start all over again. Have a Buddy list to remember all your buddy friends. to stay in constant contact. be able to throw beach parties. maybe this was not the concept of this game, but maybe its an idea for a new game or something. but love this game, because it is different and not like the rest.
Amazing app!!! By: JackSway3003 - Feb 12, 2009 Version: 1.0 I never EVER write a review but I felt compelled to do so for this app! While I agree with others that more bottles would be nice, one has to remember that this app is USER driven...PROMOTE THIS APP...GET EVERYONE TO BUY IT!!! The more people that use this app, the more fun it will be! And at .99 cents, it's a steal! Truly a ground breaking app on a revolutionary phone! It's the perfect pair! I absolutely can't wait to see how the Blimp Pilots update this in the future as I'm sure they won't dissapoint! Thanks to the Blimp Pilots for all their GREAT work!!!
My fave app so far By: Emalyssa - Mar 5, 2009 Version: 1.0 I love this app, it's well worth the cost of the purchase. I find myself sneaking off to find places I can check messages and send out new ones. The sound effects are relaxing and the graphics are beautiful, it's nice to have just to relax and pick up shells for a bit. There are beach balls, hammocks and little pirate rafts along the way, sometimes I wish they could be a little more interactive but I know that itsn't the point to the app, I still love it though...
Great!!! By: Maelef - Mar 12, 2009 Version: 1.1 Have never written a review before, but had to with this one. If anyone is on the fence as to buy this, do not hesitate. It is well worth your .99 cents and will hook you from the moment you start it up.Ive had conversations going on from people all over the world and it never gets old. Some suggestions for updates would be a friends list, more interaction while walking the beach, like maybe finding a bag of shells under a beach ball or something. And the ability to re-read messages while typing a response to it. A number of times i've typed a long response to a message and wanted to re-read what the person said but couldnt without the whole repsonse i just typed disapearing. And a time stamp on the messages so we know when they were sent. Other than those few minor details, this is a wonderful App..Thank You!!
Great concept By: cranes - 7-Feb-2009 Version: 1.0 Bravo to these people on blimp pilots, better quality than quantity and this app really shows it. For the price you're getting more, I don't regret this dollar.
Probably one or two more features such a language setup for the preferences that you have, I mean If your language it's other than English you just put it and select the priorities of the languages for the bottles you are going to recieve.
Why not to put some gps tracking in the set ups so we can chose if we want to know from where this bottles are coming in.
Anyway, this is already amazing and fun, and old concept of comunication (bottles) with a modern TOUCH.

IF YOU THINK I ONE OF THE DEV. WELL I WOULD LIKE TO...IDIOT.
Fun for everyone! By: Daniel in Denver - Mar 5, 2009 Version: 1.1 This app is so cool and it won't break you wallet. To be able to connect with whom ever with no strings attached all through the ever incredible iPhone is just awesome. One thing I suggest to the developers is that you should be able to touch on a link if someone provides you with that info in there message. You know, just like you can when somebody sends you a text or an email. Anyways, get this app, it's fun.

Cold War Fruit: Distant Shore Review By: PacificCommander - Feb 6, 2009 Version: 1.0 "Walked out this morning, don't believe what I saw Hundred billion bottles washed up on the shore." - Sting and The Police Press Start: Makers of the top paid application of 2008, Koi Pond, The Blimp Pilots have again unleashed upon the world an experience that is hard to classify. Distant Shore allows users to walk along sandy beaches, collect shells, and communicate with those beyond the horizon. Ideology/ Worldview: Based upon the mercy of the user and his/her own viewpoint. Experience will vary from message to message. Interaction/ Gameplay: Tap your way along the beach. Collect 5 shells to obtain a bottle. Write a message and toss it into the sea. Replies will be received via mail turtle. In the End: I am intrigued. Distant Shore is a modern day experiment in communication. The app weighs its entire experience upon users across the globe. The messages that are received and sent could contain almost anything from questions to statements to random thoughts. One will never know what message lies inside the virtual bottle. I will note that The Blimp Pilots have set up a system to report offensive messages. The subjective nature of what is offensive and what is not will surely keep the developer busy policing bottles. In the end, the longevity of Distant Shore will be based upon its users and the messages that they send. A curiosity at $0.99, the price of admission is low enough to recommend engaging in this social experiment. Review Score: * DEFCON 5 – Just buy it already
Brilliant! By: AKSurfer - Mar 31, 2009 Version: 1.1 This app can get tiresome but it is so amazing, ask a random question and get equally random replies, not to mention the type of people you can meet, I have already met many people sending bottles to one another and I have owned this app less than 24 hours! However, I would like to see more scenery to wander around in and maybe some things I can do by myself while I wait for my mysterious bottle-pals to reply, rather than collect an endless amount of shells/bottles!
This thing is going to be HUGE!! By: brianbgood - Feb 9, 2009 Version: 1.0 Wow,, It's sort of like finding little prayers from people all over the world. I am completely mesmerized by this app. This program is off the chart revolutionary. You can be silly or serious. Here is an example of 2 of my little anonymous correspondences. SILLY- Bottle I found simply said "BEAN SOUP" I replied back "Cottage Cheese Grenades." They replied back " LOL Food Fight" SERIOUS " Found a bottle that said "I really miss my dad, R.I.P ) I replied with " Man I'm sorry, I will miss my dad too when he's gone as he's been battling prostate cancer for years" He replied back " Thank You kind Stranger" Not much of a review, but if you take anything away from this it should simply be that this app shows how connected and similar we all really are with each other. Regardless of ethnicity, social/economic back ground/ belief system/ or national identity. WEll DONE BLIMP PILOTS My only suggestion would be to increase the message capacity. Other than that.. I am in awe
Wonderful! By: Blackink136 - Feb 13, 2009 Version: 1.0 I love this application! It's nice sometimes to have an anonymous conversation - no obligations, and sometimes a very funny and interesting pen pal :-pI would suggest an in-game clock because it's very easy to lose track of time while walking the beach. Also, a time stamp on the messages would be nice. Sometimes my potential response depends on what time I received the message. Even without those two things, this app totally rocks! Every time I take my phone out, I check Facebook and Distant Shores.
Amazing!! Best app I've ever used! By: fairlyvanilla - 5-Feb-2009 Version: 1.0 I love this app so much. It's such a creative and well executed concept - brilliant! I love how interactive it is, the ocean ambience and graphics are very relaxing and soothing. Extremely addictive and fun! Very well worth the mere 99 cents, and EVERY iPhone user in the world should have this app installed! :)
In future updates it would be great to have a contact list for people you want to remain in touch with, as well as new objects to find, and more interactivity with objects on beach. (although it IS cool you can put the bonfires out and restart them!)
Very impressed overall and highly recommended.
P.S. Koi pond is also great -- love the rain and thunderstorm update!
Get it By: R53Mini - Mar 3, 2009 Version: 1.1 I got this the other day and love it. Have talked to people all over the world so far. This app has plenty room to grow and that's on top of the already fun app it is. Get it and sent some notes! I have Koi pond also and that is a high quality app. But for relaxation and the excitement of finding notes or responding to some, this app is a STEAL for $0.99
UPDATE..... This app is cool but gets old very quick. Had my attention for a good 3 weeks or so. Now it's bla.
Classic, classy, eternally sound and selfless... What a nice "welcome to the world of the iPhone 3G By: Sinatra Kennedy - Jul 6, 2009 Version: 1.1 This is simply a beautiful application. The first night with my 3G was void of all sleep. Like a little kid getting exactly what he wants for Christmas. A real mans toy. A jewel. I love my phone. Distant Shores the APP is a great private, classy way to explore the power of a butterfly. Free on the beach. No distractions. Loads of surfing, and shell fish. Long sleepy nights. Sore thighs and calves from boarding the blue all day... Often I crash out with my back to the warm crackling flames of beach fire. I have random thoughts and write them down... I am pleasantly surprised by the gentle nature of its simple layout. Innocent and fullfilling. You get what you put into it. Just like life... You might think me insane but one of the reasons i even purchased an iphone was to have my very own Koi Pond. These two APPS are classic. They have class and style. The ZEN way of playing video games if you will... And to those who say, " it gets old too fast." I say, It only gets old when you get distracted. It gives to you exactly what you give to it. Send your thoughts and dreams out in a bottle for a stranger to find and read. It's a wonderful welcome to the community application. Hero of Sparta is the best game Application. The graphics really show off what these little 3G's can do. Make sure you have Koi Pond.
Amazzzzzing love it By: Teddy_101 - Mar 27, 2009 Version: 1.1 I love this game for being able to have conversations with any one around the world like I had a conversation with someone from Belgium and that was cool, but I do agree with everyone else saying that there needs to be more choices in things to do because after awile just talking is kind of boring but in a way it is not but anyways there could be a new thing to be able to actully go into the huts and make a nice little house and to maybe have an avitsr it depends if you really want to see yourself. I live this game there is really no glitches at all except that I don't like to have to walk around a long time just to find a bottle so maybe the bottles could be closer. Other then those few things I think this IS one of the best apps!!!!!!
Amazing By: Kinzies12345678910 - Mar 10, 2009 Version: 1.1 Great app. Perfect 4 when your alone and have no one to talk to. But it would be great if you had a avatar, mii, or sim. Or something like that. And it would be great if you could go in your hut, and customize it. Also, if behind the hut there could be a boat, and when you recieve a letter in the corner of the letter it could say: go to messager's island. And go in their hut and give them gifts and tips 4 their rooms. Please give an update with these activities.
Love it!!! By: southernUS - Mar 3, 2009 Version: 1.1 My favorite app (my other faves are Koi Pond and Campfire). Definitely addictive. I've corresponded with people all over the world--from one liners to continuing conversations-- and most people are friendly, courteous, interesting, and curious about other's lives. I would like to see a counter somewhere that let's you know how many invisible people are walking the beach. Can't wait to see how the Blimp Pilots upgrade this wonderful app.
