once you get that this is a WIFI player -- it works really well.
those other reviewers don't seem to be able to read -- it does say "Over WIFI".
Though I did hear rumblings that a 3G version might come out soon...
new improvements have made it more reliable and in synch. Big Improvement!
-- and now I can actually get landscape to work -- set it up on my stand and watch.
For 5 bucks this is pretty great cable.

After a few upgrades this app is awesome! I don't know what they could do to improve on it. Maybe add a guide that shows you what is playing on each channel. But, I love it! Thank you!And I am able to view NASA TV. I might mention I have a fast cable internet connection also I like older shows so I enjoy the channels that are offered. And they even have family guy. Throw in the simpsons and king of the hill and this will be a 100 star app. :)And I don't understand why people complain about picture quality. It's an iPhone. They have to lower the resolution to get it to stream properly. We aren't quite to HD yet. Not the fault of the app. You want HD then download videos instead. You can't stream at that quality without choppiness and making it virtually unwatchable no matter how fast your connection is. It's not a laptop.One suggestion for future update: add the ability to filter by language the same way you can on the web. 

Kinda disapointed with this. Loved the free version, but this version really doesn't add/improve enough to warrant a purchase...The landscape mode is pretty crap as explained in the review below.....Shame.......but nothing an update can't fix.....*****UPDATE******With the last 2 updates this app has gotten loads better......Proper landscape mode has been added! Most channels under 300kbps seem to work properly now.....& the ads have been removed. Exellent.

Buy it!!

I was up s@"t creek without a paddle for the Haye v Valuev fight I had absolutely no where to watch it so looked around for an app to watch it on and found this one I was a bit dubious about paying for it but it was only £2.99 so I thought what the hell. The only problem I had was the fight was advertised in the sport category but it was just an advert but I found the fight by chance in RRsat. I got to watch the whole fight without any problems and in a decent enough quality I had a bit of a scare when they were about to announce the winner it froze but it only lasted about 3 seconds. All in all it was worth paying for but do as I done and check out thier website before purchasing.

Please disregard the bad reviews from kids wanting the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon; if you want to see local (usa) programming turn on your television and tell your mom to get you the Disney channel. However, if you are learning a foreign language or would like to see the crazy tv programs from China and all over the world then this is for you. I love being able to view these odd channels I'd never get to see otherwise. In my opinion we're lucky we get any US channels as I'm sure there could be legal apects we're not aware of regarding thier use. So please stop complaining about "not enough local channels" and turn on your tv. My only complaint is that the bandwidth of some channels are too large (in particular, the French stations, which I got the app for!). Please add more French stations if you can. Thanks.

Absolutely great app. I wish there was a better description in the app store. Watch channels from all over the world, including many great ones from the USA. One thing this app is sorely missing, however, is a way to sort by country, or language even. I have to resort to stumbling through channels in foreign languages until I find one of my favorites from the US, such as SyFy, MSNBC and many more. Great app, just really needs some better organization.

I can watch live tv channels from around the world! Simply amazing app for expats like me. Video is smooth and stable on most channels. I have seen no other app that can do this and offers this range of channels. If you are expecting to see all the US cable channels you will be disappointed, but seems that more channels are constantly being added. I used the PC app from TVU for years, which is also the best live TV service out there. TVU has done a superb job in bringing TVU to on the iPhone. Can't thank you enough.

Of all the TV streaming apps on the iphone, this one is probably the best. It's based off TVU's service where people basically can stream TV (or anything else really) to anyone. Because the service relies on people actually streaming the stuff, the channels offered can and do change a lot, but there usually is pretty good content out there.
Pros:
- Major network channels available: CBS, Spike, A&E, Discovery (EU), CBC (Canada), ESPN all seem to work and stream nicely to the phone. This app seems to be the only iPhone TV app that has these channels.
- Lots of channels. There is a heavy emphasis on Asian programming and public-broadcast style channels, but I can always find something to watch. It is neat seeing TV from around the world.
- You can generally tell which channel will work before you start streaming it as bandwidth and strength icons are displayed for each channel. This is a major downfall of other apps, as you often click on a channel and wait forever to find it doesn't work. Knowing which channels are up before you click them is a major bonus.
Cons:
- Advertisements! I can understand having ads, but I don't understand why the free version of this app has no advertisements, yet this paid version has a banner ad at the bottom?!
- Landscape mode only rotates the picture, but doesn't enlarge it any, so you just get a small actual video with big black borders. The screenshot provided is really misleading, the picture is no where near that large in landscape mode.
- High bandwidth channels still tend to be choppy and don't stream as well because the iPhone doesn't have the power to keep up with them.
- Other than being able to rotate to landscape mode (which I mentioned isn't the greatest) , I'm not entirely sure what the paid version has over the free version...
Overall, I am actually quite happy with the app. These internet TV streaming services can be hit or miss at best on any platform, but I think this iPhone app is a good implementation of it. As long as you understand the limitations of internet TV, then I would recommend TVU.

Within a few months this app has grown in leaps and bounds! Now has portrait and landscape view and works beautifully over 3G as well as wifi! Has all the Nostalgia Merchant UK channels I am addicted to! Would be nice if they also had a schedule for each channel available...but one thing at a time...it is really obvious these guys are working hard and quickly to please! Easily worth the five bucks because the company seems devoted to putting the cash directly back into development. With such sweeping advances in such a short amount of time I can safely say that I am now addicted to each and every new upgrade! Good show lads! Please keep up the great work!

I don't know what the totally negative reviews are from. Grantide there aren't many USA channels to choose from, but here are some that I watch. FoxCBSFox NewsSpikeAnd if bored the DBZ channel. I've verified it's working by watching the same station on my regular tv, it's only a few seconds behind. Sure if it had more stations it would be better but for me to have access to the ones I've mentioned above, it's worth it. And over 3g.5 stars when more USA stations are available.

This is great except for the fact that there are a very limited number of channels that will stream on 3g. With a strong channel selection, a one-time start fee with no monthly service charge, and an easy use interface, this is definately the best streaming TV app available. Two star reviews over a missing channel is absurd. I would suggest streaming quality options for channels that use a lot of bandwidth for more 3g streaming capabilities. One thing is for sure. This app has the potential to be so much better. It is really in the developers hands whether they want this to be a success or not.

Disappointed, was expecting more! Not as adverstised !!

Hi all, I was (and still am) a fan of the free version, and I accidentally saw this paid version which says it has categories and full view vision (landscape mode) ...etc and all theother benefits of the paid version, but I was suprised and disappointed due to the following:1/There are "mobile adds" i.e. it's like the other lite or free apps on the app store that have adds in them!! so why do we have to pay for this version that has adds!! unbeliveable !!Please remove the adds, as This is the ONLY paid app that I have seen so far with mobile adds (adds are for the free or lite versions!!!) and it says (Ads by AdMob) !!!!!!2/The categories are not well defined or clear3/The channel names are preceeded by long 6 digit numbers which is confusing( i think they are for channel referencing).4/The full screen mode i.e. the landscape mode does NOT zoom the picture to the full size of the iphone screen, i.e. you get the same small pciture size its just the background becomes all black nothing else!!!Until the developers correct these issues I would not recommend it and the free version is better to stick with !!Thank You::::::::::UPDATE::::::::All of the bugs mentioned above have been finally fixed on this latest release on the 8th of October,2009 so thank u to the developer for addressing the issues mentioned above and fixing them! Now I can honestly recommend it. Thank you

50 american/Canadian worth watching channels available. Well worth the money. Sitcoms, series, movies, cartoons, local and world news. Almost all major networks like fox, NBC, CBS, CBC, spike tv, sci fi, etc. Now available on 3gs/edge networks! And the tvuplayer keeps adding new channels almost daily! I luv it!
