On a recent road trip we used this to track expenses. We started with 0 balance and could document each purchase with necessary information. It worked great.
For fitness I am doing a Virtural Walk and need to keep a record of each day's miles, and subtract them from the current goal. (we are going from city to city). I could not find a program for this, so I am using Balance. I "deposit" my goal number of miles, and then enter the miles I walk each day. I have recorded the info I want to keep and it keeps my balance of miles at a glance. I have downloaded other counters but they don't work. Except for the balance always being in dollars and cents, this program works great for this recording of miles.
Will there be a time when we can add more than one account? I would love that, as I would be able to use it for more than one "account" that I am tracking.
The ability to email the list is also great.

great All around iPhone application

This is a wonderful app. It does what it says: keeps track of your expenses and how much money you have. It is not complicated at all (If you want a full featured expense app you're in the wrong place), has only one screen. But what it needs to do, it does very well. No problems of any kind occurred when I was using it. I am only 12 years old and like some others, I don't need a complicated app like Xpenselt, etc. But I do need to keep track of how much I spend, where, and my current balance. If this is what you need, this app does it wonderfully.
I rarely take the time to write reviews of iPhone apps. This app was perfect. It is definitely download worthy.

I rarely carry cash these days and tend to use my debit/credit card for the majority of my transactions. I used to try and mentally keep track of my purchases and what's in my checking account, but I'd always forget those "little" transactions. I'm the kind of person who will keep the receipts, and every few days pull out my untracked receipts, log online to my bank, and balance my checkbook.
With this app, it balances my checkbook immediately. Whenver I spend, I immediately input my transaction, and right away I know what I have available.
I just read an article about how banks charge $30+ overdraft fees. I think people who have trouble with this sort of thing should download this app.
Connor Wakamo, thank you for lightening the load in my purse.....no more wad of reciepts for me!

So simple. You just enter deposits and withdrawals and it gives you your current balance. You can enter transactions in the future. It makes keeping track of what's in your checking account absolutely painless.
I personally would not like to see any more complexity such as multiple accounts, categorization of transactions, etc. This is easy to use (and thus I am more likely to use it consistently) precisely because it is so simple. There are other apps for more complicated data tracking, budgeting, etc.

This is my Most used app, and for that deserves a review. This app Does not store bank information just your ammounts so the password is not nessasary but keeps prying eyes at bay. This app is very easy because it is designed to replace just one thing your check register. Start it off with your deposit and then (I recomend) with every check you write round up to the nerest dollar. Keeps you aware of what you spend and helps you save a few cents with every check.

I love this simple to use app. I'm always up to date with my current balance. We used to always get overdraft fees. My husband would forget to notify me when he used his ATM. But now he texts me everytime he uses his ATM :) plus our bank has this text message thing, u set ur phone number with them and u text them and they text u back ur recent activity and current balance. So if I did miss something I can always go back and add that into my iPhone checkbook, Balance :) so thanks for this app. But it would be even better there's was a way to check the transactions that went through...

I absolutely love this app for it's simplicity and ease of use. The only thing it desperately needs is a check box to reconcile with bank statements. I would definitely be willing to pay if it included DaBeav2003's suggestions. A tab for setting a budget and automatic updating of that budget after each transaction entered would be great! Also being able to categorize spending i.e. Debt Payments, Bills, Gas, Food, Entertainment etc... Then a way to see totals for each category. It also needs some sort of division between months. Maybe all transactions for current month show and each previous month is listed with the ability to expand and a choice of which months to include in summaries. Overall great app, easy to use and replaces my register perfectly and it's always with me!

I never carry my checkbook because I never write checks, but I always have my iPhone and always use my debit card. I have become so much more responsible because of this app. This app would be perfect if just had a few more features. The ability to have multiple accounts being the biggest. It would also be nice to have a box you could check when a transactions clears the bank. I've tried using the note section but it's just not that convenient. A landscape option would be nice but I could live without it.

I was never one to use a check registry cause I hardly ever write checks. I use my debit card all the time so I kept a running balance in my head. Since I carrier my iPhone with me ALL the time this app keeps me on the straight and narrow when it comes to keeping my account in check and I know how much I have at all times. Simple easy to use interface and takes seconds to enter in your deductions or deposits. And being free is a definite plus!

I started with the free version a few months ago as an experiment. I used it as my official checkbook for my primary checking account. When I use my debit card, I either enter the data shortly after, or before I go to bed. As I used it more, I began to use the note feature to keep tabs on exactly what I bought, or to enter warrenty/conformation numbers. I found that it is way easier to keep a balanced checkbook and to know exactly how much money I have when I'm running around. Then, after the last major update, I realized that I could really get some use out of the paid version. I bit the bullet, and I'm so glad I did. Now I have all of my accts listed, and can regularly back them up or export them to my laptop. I also love the new checkmark for completed transactions.The only thing I would like to see added is the ability to mark a transaction as checked, without having to go into the detail view everytime. Thank you!

I love this thing because I can't manage money to save my own life and I can't read my own handwriting in a checkbook log. And if it's FREE it's one less thing you have to try and balence our without it. And I like the fact that I can use the notes to say where that money actually is I.e. I keep a change pot of sorts as a way of saving money for my car and this is a nice way of making sure my roommate hasn't taken any. The only thing I'm though and it doesn't seem to be a problem for anyone else is that my valence is in British pounds instead of us dollars. I don't know whyvbut if anyone could tell me how to fix that it would be greatly appriciated.

I love the simplicity of this app! I use it everyday, I put all my transctions in at the end of the day to keep my account balances on track. You know how sometimes your online banking won't show what's pending in your balance and can throw things off well with this you don't have to worry about it. It's basically like the balance pages in your checkbook without carrying an old fashioned checkbook. I think it's important to have since everything is electronic now it can be hard to keep track of your spending but not with this app. Love it! Oh and being free helps a bit too :)

Love this app. I'm hoping for an update that will allow for more accounts. I haven't tried it yet, but I assume if I delete old entries my total amount will change. If so, it'd be great if we had the option to delete entries but not have the balance change, if we so choose. Only quirk this app has at times is even with dates and me wanting the latest entry listed first, it will sometimes list my entries in the wrong order. Dunno why, but the account balance isn't affected so it's not a big deal.

For something Free this app is clean and works very well. The CSV export is a nice touch as well. If you're considering downloading it... GET IT!

This ap is incredibly simple-no surprises. It was exactly what I was looking for. I'm looking forward to an update to track more than one account, though. Seems to be a reoccuring suggestion. So, I'm sure it's on it's way. Would love an option to track credit card transactions, as I keep a running total of my credit card balance as well as my debit card/checking account. So, the balance would have to increase rather than decrease on the credit card balance feature. Other than that---WONDERFUL AP! Thanks! Look forward to updates.

Edit: all features have been added that I wanted except multiple accounts which isn't super important to me. 5 stars for sure. I wish developers like this charged $.99 instead of the ones that don't care. -------------- Very nice app. Some ideas 1) password protect 2) datestamp 3) multiple accounts 4) export/email as csv file If this app had those functions it would be amazing and worthy of a small fee. As it's free I am inclined to give 4 stars as datestamping would have made it much more convient for me. But it's great. Thanks for your work

I got this app beacuse I wanted to have a way to keep track of a savings account without having to go online and see what my balance is. This app does the trick perfectly! Allows me to keep track of all withdrawls and deposits and I love the password protection option. The only thing that would make this app better is if I could keep track of multiple accounts, but besides that I wouldn't change a thing!

Perfect little program. I have two easy to implement requests. Firstly, when adding a new transaction, list some favourites under name so you dont have to keep re-enter the word "fuel" or "lunch" or whatever other common thing people spend money on. And secondly, and I really need you to do this one. Have the program autoscroll to the bottom of the list so you can see the last thing you did, or, reverse it so that the first thing on the list is the last thing you entered. All I ever see when I start the program is the first 5 or 6 items I ever entered. Keep it up, and keep it free!

I have always been bad with balancing my checkbook, which has cost me alot over the last few years. Just in the first 3 months of this year I overdrafted 4 times, costing me $33 each time (and I couldnt even get the bank to take even 1 of them off.) Since using this app on my ipod touch the last month and 1/2 I havnt had any problems and have known the exact amount I actually really have in my account. This app is very basic and simple which is important to quickly enter a transaction. I tried a couple other apps and this one is much better and easier. And since my Ipod is always with me, its so much better then having to remember to write each transaction in a real checkbook. I know this app will end up saving me well more then what i paid for my ipod... and best of all its free! Thanks developers!

Fantastic. I tried three other Apps with no luck, I could not change to Pounds, I could not pay in and withdraw and I could not make the App work at all. That is all changed. It is exactly what I wanted. Congratulations Connor Wakamo. I can even work out what my balance should be at the end of the month. I cannot ask for more, Congratulations especially explaining what one should do before even buying the App. I wish more software producers selling through iTunes would do the same.
