I've given this app 5 stars, even though with this version it's broken (it really is that good, and I'm hoping an update will fix it). It loads up, waits a few seconds and then goes back to the home screen :(
I've powered off and reset my iPhone (3G) to no avail.
Hope this can get sorted soon, as I'd like to try out the Bloomberg anywhere subscription, but I can't if the app is crashing :(

So close to perfect, as to amaze me. It does everything except to allow me to retain a sale point price for my stocks and that is just something 'I' would want. It uses numerous iPhone features like rotation to control graph functions, and it seems like most headers have multiple function, such as toggling thrue my profits, purchase price, etc on my stock list.
It is rare to see an app so completely featured, and is so good that I now give Bloomberg more respect as a complete operation for stock information.
Nice job folks. And for the constant enhancements to an already solid application, Kudos.

*Revsd Rvw* This app was already one of my faves. It is now #1! The incorporation of additional indices, news, currencies, bonds and commodities makes this the most informative and useful app I have. 2 many features 2 list, like AM/PM, "You can never have too much good stuff!"
*Pt. 2* After spending time with the latest update I would now like to see easier navigation thru the comprehensive news feature. With so many sections & articles it would be awesome to be able to navigate each section of news as its own page. By keeping the same scrolling feature & giving ea. sect. its own page it would be less tedious trying to get to the specific articles I'd like to read.

No doubt that the application is solid with respect to UI and data provision. However, it does crash on occasion when adding stocks (as has previously been reported). One infuriating thing is that it will not find certain stocks when using search, where the website has no problem with this at all. I'd give it five stars if it did not have this issue. Persistent "unknown error" displays accompany this problem. Not useful in its current state. With fixes, it would be truly excellent.

Business people are always looking for the standard and unbiased market research. Whom do they trust the most? Of course Bloomberg.
The fact that Bloomberg was the first one to release the business application on iPhone itself shows, their commitment to keeping up with latest trends. The application covers quotes for stocks, indexes and it covers the entire globe's market news, indexes in one simple application. Navigation is very easy.
The best part comes from showing the chart of any stock/index in the horizontal format automatically. You can just look at the chart and easily figure out how the stock/index performed over a period.
Best application for any investor.

Incredible Source of News and Information

This app allows you to choose which types of information you would like to view i.e. stock market, currencies, news etc and for which geographical regions. It is a powerful information source and considering it is available free on an ipod/iPhone when not so long ago it would have required a costly business subscription is pretty amazing. Thoroughly recommended to those interested in the international markets and related news.

If only the economy worked as good as Bloomberg!

I have downloaded 26 applications for the iPhone. Other than the apps that come with the phone, there are few apps I use daily and many more I forget all about. Not so with the Bloomberg app! I go to the Bloomburg app at least three times a day or more to view my stocks going further into the dumpster. The news Bloomberg provides is spot on.
I really like how I can tell where I stand with my stocks in seconds.
You can also find out how wealthy or broke you would have been had you followed your financial mans advice.
Man .... I wish I would have bought Apple when it was tanking at $13.

This is free? Have I died and gone to App heaven? Ask yourself, would you have believed it if you'd seen a few-hundred-bucks handheld device streaming hi-qual info from all the world's markets in a 2003 Science Fiction movie... and then they'd said the software's free? This is as close to perfect as it gets on a May 2009 iPhone. Only one thing's certain...by 2010 this will be ancient history. If the present's this good, can't wait for the future. 100% recommendation.

If you're in the financial services community, you can get caught up in the morning by firing this up on your way to work. The application is segmented into several sections. There's a news section with the top financial stories, another section tells you what various markets have done overnight, and another section where you can put in company-specific ticker symbols. The index section is very impressive, as you can drill down on the index and see what sectors are moving as well as what individual stocks are moving. Under the stock-specific section, you can put in all sorts of obscure ticker symbols for stocks worldwide. Clicking on the ticker will bring up a description of the stock and current news on the stock. This knocks the socks off the competition, as most Bloomberg products do. Download without hesitation!

I can't believe it's free! I initially thought it was an iPhone access point for the Bloomberg Professional service, but no, it's just the best way to stay on top of everything Mr. Market throws your way. It would be worth loading just for the stock tracking, which gives you access to info from exchanges all over the world - I loaded a few HK Exchange securities that Yahoo just couldn't display. The news section is equally brilliant, featuring real stories from Bloomberg Media, not endless reprinted press releases. A Must Have!

This is my most used App for the iPhone and offers a wealth of financial information in a clear and concise format on the iPhone better than the Bloomberg stie does on the web. The stock portion takes over where Apple's stock App leaves off, by not only including stocks and equity indices, but also comodities, bonds, and currencies, but also the lastest financial news. The best App for the iPhone!!!

I love this app. Great design and great information. Only thing I would like to see is a total value for my portfolio... maybe it could be in the world markets area and you could select two or more and compare them in a graph. Would make this a perfect app. Even without this I would happily pay for this if they wanted me too.
Oh, another idea would be to email a CSV file of your portfolio values to yourself.

This is a great example of what all apps should be like. The whole point of having apps instead of using Safari to navigate to a website is for you to get your information in a way which makes full use of the iPhone's screen instead of having to zoom in and out in Safari. This app is clean, FAST, the information is well organized and presented, clearly visible, and the graphics are gorgeous. Nuff said. Well done Bloomberg!!

v1.2: no consolidation of multiple purchases of same stock

I just installed v1.2 that was released today. The bug I reported in v1.1 where the app bombed out when displaying 1-day detail in landscape mode has been fixed and a whole load of new features have been added, together with a greatly enhanced level of detail about your holdings.
I am new to the world of stocks and shares, and have only ever made two purchases of the same stock, but as one new detail is P&L, I re-entered my purchases individually. However, the app displays the two purchases as separate items, rather than identifying that the two tickers are the same and displaying a consolidated value, which rather reduces the benefit of having this additional level of detail if you have more than one holding of the same stock.
I then created an account on bloomberg.com and re-entered these same details. On bloomberg.com it did correctly identify that the tickers were the same and gave me a consolidated value based on the aggregates of the original purchases, with a + against the consolidated item which expanded to show the individual details of the individual purchases.
Still a great app, greatly improved, a big thumbs up for the decision to add small unobtrusive adverts in order to keep the app free, still going to give it four stars, but if this detail could be fixed/added it'd be a 5-star without a second's hesitation.

Amazing freeware from Bloomberg! Super easy to use with intuitive graphical user interface and consistency with Bloomberg Professional platform. I haven't used Apple's own Stocks for ages and its place at main home screen has been replaced by this since launch! Way to go! They really ought to do a premium paid version to add in more analytical tool and statistics, I'm willing to pay anything up to £100 if it's introduced!

The Bloomberg designers and programmers did fantastic job! Everything downloads fast and clear. It seems like a very light app. for the information it provides. One of the greatest feature is the individual stock page. It displays the information you expect, including a small graph of a year's worth of the stock's activity. But if you turn the iPhone to the side and you will see a full-screen image of the graph in landscape mode. I can't say enough great things about this app!
ATTENTION OTHER NEWS-RELATED PROVIDERS: Please take a look at this app and learn from what the folks at Bloomberg did. They hit the mark as to how to make an app like this work on the iPhone!

I own shares of various companies but was sort of the investor that does trying to make a quick buck, but I never managed to keep track of my holdings and knew nothing of the financial world . This app has changed that forever. Now, where ever I am I can utilize the very slick interface to check up on the performance of my stocks and see amy relevent news. The layout is simply superb. Apple + Bloomberg = Win

This application is great! For those who are bloomberg anywhere users to enable the message funtionality go to the settings icon on the iPhone then go to bloomberg and choose on for bloomberg anywhere. Now the next time you open the app, you will be prompted by the user name and password and here have your b-unit set to token mode by pressing the power button for about 5 seconds, you should get a 6 digit number and you will be all set! Love getting my messages on the iPhone

This is so amazing. It alows you to get instant quotes in less than a couple minutes. There are so many little things that make the app so worth it. The charts are a great example of this. It is so cool. I can't even begin to discribe it. This is great for novice or experts. Plus what do you have to lose it is free.
