Just what I was looking for  rating of iCompta
By: Karenarcooke - 10-Feb-2009
Version: 1.0.1
Great companion application to the desktop. Don't know what the other reviewer was talking about - the piecharts and balance forecasting are available, and I've had no interface problems. I imported my previous data on the desktop and it all syncs nicely so I can have up to date information available, an I can add transactions easily. I don't really use the people function as I don't lend or borrow very often, but I can see it would be useful. I need to finish inputting my budget data - but it does show how much I have over/underspent by, and you can set custom periods which is really useful as my money comes in on the 25th of the month. You can set up repeating transactions quite easily. Not really much more you need for managing your day to day finances.

Just right  rating of iCompta

I have recently been looking to get my personal finances in order and have tried several of the available iphone applications for this task. None of them managed to provide what I was looking for until I found iCompta. Whilst the other apps seemed more geared towards accountants I was looking for something to track my finances, give me breakdowns of where money was spent *and* be really easy to jump into. And this is where iCompta excels - it is easy and dare I say it, fun, to jump in and start tracking your money.
It generates beautiful pie charts and reports and supports syncing to the free(!) desktop version of the app. The desktop version really makes this app shine as you can import your bank statements and have rules set up to categorise everything for you. In this way you can automate much of the tedious side of finance tracking and then use the iphone app to record cash purchases and other little notes day to day.
The latest version also uses easier to understand wording and the developer is quick to respond to suggestions for improvements.
The ability to encrypt documents to keep your financial records secure sealed the deal for me.
So, I would recommend you download the desktop app first if you are on OSX and then, when you love it as much as I did, get this fantastic iPhone companion app.
Phew! Let me end by saying that until now I have not felt compelled to write a review for any of the other apps I purchased!

Good budgeting app  rating of iCompta
By: aggiecouple - May 21, 2009
Version: 1.1.2
I needed something simple to track our expenses, and started using iCompta on my mac about 3 months ago. There are some user-unfriendly glitches, i.e. if you make a transfer from one account to another, when you update it inside one account, it doesn't update it in the other. You just have to learn its quirks, which I was willing to do for a free software. The mobile version is exactly like the mac version and I love being able to look at my budgets when I'm about, and enter expenses as they incur (before, I waited to see it on the cc to enter it). Good price for a decent (not great) software.

Fab app but needs better translation  rating of iCompta

This is the first review I have written and this is because I have been looking for just this type of app since buying my iPod. In fact I got the iPod just to keep better track of my finances, imagine my horror when I realize that all the finance apps were pants. This one blows them out of the water. Firstly you can have multiple accounts and each one can be in a different currency. You can have recurring transactions, budgets, pie charts to see where your money goes and wait for it. ... A graph which shows how the balance of your account look in the future which is excellent for managing money. Another feature, which a previous reviewer obviously didn't read the text about the app, is the people function which allows you to track who you owe (or the other way round) what. It like to your contacts or you can create one from scratch. I'd definately recommend this app to everyone who needs to track their finances in depth. The only down side is that a few of the terms are vague such as operation means transaction and operation type means transaction catagory. But when you realize it's originally a french app you can allow for this. There is a support forum and I have suggested these changes and seeing as the app hasn't been out long I'm hopeful. If it changes I'll change rating to 5 star. Have a play with the functions and you'll see what I mean.

Great Finance App  rating of iCompta
By: pangj06 - 08-Jan-2009
Version: 1.0.1
The developer has done a great job producing this app. It has a lot more functionality than other finance apps, in particular its graphing and graphical budgeting interface. You should use it with the desktop version of iCompta (free) as you can perform more complex operations such as split bills.
One thing I can suggest to the developer is for the app to be able to set scheduled fortnightly operations. It seems every other frequency is covered. Also, a reminder function would be nice.
This app is great now, and can only improve with time!

Not a bad app, pretty and lots of potential, some bugs  rating of iCompta
By: Lau lou - 04-Dec-2008

It's quite a nice app, I can't complain too much since I'm trying it so soon after release. Its positives are that it's the first finance app for the iphone that does all the things I want in one. Multiple accounts, scheduling and most important graphing of profits/loss over time (really helps me with my saving)
Downsides are that the interface takes a little getting used to (why is there a "new" button in the bottom left that deletes all accounts? Are you insane? I've accidentally done it twice) And When I try to delete transactions I have accdietally added against the wrong account it won't let me and the entire right hand of the screen shows as a grey button where the "delete" should be when I edit.
Other than that a really great app. I'm looking forward to future updates.

I have been using iCompta for over a year now on my mac to keep track of my personal finances. Since the day I got my iPhone I have been checking the iCompta site almost daily wating for this app to be released, and it looks like the wait was well worth it. This App is worth every penny.

Great Application  rating of iCompta
By: -Ian. - 19-May-2009

I use this in conjunction with the free Mac desktop application to track several bank accounts, credit card balances and a budget and I think it is an excellent app. The developer has managed to provide most, if not all, of the functionality of the desktop app in a clear, useable and stable iphone app and unlike some reviewers I have had no issues with the synchronisation.

This is perfect for managing my finances alongside Pocket Money, can't believe it's so far down on the list I nearly didn't find it. Great app and the Mac desktop app is fantastic as well and it's free.

I usually don't write reviews but am very pleased with this app. I've been looking for a finance tracking program since I bought my iPhone but haven't found one that syncs with a desktop version. Both the desktop version and the app are perfect for me - not to mention the desktop version is free! Try it out, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
