This is by far the best expense tracking application I have come across. The interface is clean and simple, but includes all the functions you need to track your expenses, like the budget function (can be divided into different categories to match the expense), daily averages, report & graphing functions, data exporting, photo receipt, and more! I used to keep all my receipts, and attempt to write down everything at the end of the week, but always ended up losing receipts or just getting plain lazy...iXpenseIt allows you to record expenses on the spot, and if you're too busy to spend 30 seconds doing that, you can just snap a picture of the receipt, and input the info after...Definitely recommended, will get the full version (well worth the dollars).

Just want to say what a great app this is. I travel alot of my time and have been logging my company releated expenses in iXpenseIt for a while now. With a little bit of VBA coding to take the iXpenseIt export into the my companies expense claim sheet it makes claim submission easy and a push button affair. One of the big benefits is that the iPhone is always handy to capture expenses as they occur, rather than powering up a laptop! One tip is - if you’re on an international trip which you need to capture claims for, is to set your defaults such as Expense Type, Currency ect in the settings, then it’s basically a twostep process of entering the claim amount and category for each entry…

Great app, does everything but I can't justify $6 for the paid version! $2.49 please.

I have downloaded the free version of this and it does almost everything i would like an expense app to do. You can add your own categories & subcategories, graphs & charts are great, monthly snap shot is great, you can enter a starting figure. But one thing it doesn't have is re-occurence of expenses. And the biggest drawback - I personally believe that the paid $5.99 version is a little pricey. Sure, it's a great application but you can find other similar ones for less. Please make it $2.49 and I assure you that I will be one of the first to buy and not the last I'm sure. Great work though! It would have received 5 stars had the full version been cheaper.

This App is user friendly, has customizable, flexible settings and I'm able to see various charts with the information I pick (also custom) so I can see exactly where my money is spent! They pretty much thought of everything when they made this. It's wonderful! Suggestions for updates: more icons such as a camera and a tennis ball ;). Also ability to add deposits to budget more readily. THANKS!!

For free and for my limited uses it's exceptionally good. I am very organized and like to be really precise in my record-keeping and this app allows you to do so easily. I thought it a little hard to intuit how to customize categories but once u figure it out (touch the name and slide to right) the options make this very useful. And I got EXCELLENT support when I had a brain freeze and couldn't figure out how I was screwing up the export function! Lastly I seem to remember that the earlier free version allowed much fewer entries while now you can do hundreds. That's a good developer!

Don't be fooled by some negative reviews of this absolute wonderful app! The problem with some people evaluating tools like this is that they jump to conclusion too quickly (suppose it's not their fault since we are only to spend 5 seconds of our valuable time for those free apps to justify their mere existence!). Well, finance app such as this requires some human input and somewhat of good sense what you want to achieve with a tool like this. iXpenseIt does all things right and perhaps a little too much. The main focus of iXpenseIt is tracking expense as the name implies. However, it does do income (how about simply record it as negative expense, quite effective if you ask me!). The best part of iXpenseIt is the ability to allow me quickly capture my expense and forget it about until I wish to run a report and see what my damage is so that I can be more smarter over time. Get this right: the lite version does give you 50 trial records as long as you don’t create a record that repeats 50 times, in which case you get only 1 record!
Try this app, but give it more than 10 seconds before jump to conclusion!

I was quite suprised how well it all worked out for me. Some previous reviewer seems getting less then 50 records allowed, but i pushed the limit to 50 before I end up purchasing the full version. I used the app's backup/restore feature to migrate all my data from this lite version to the paid version without any glitches. More smooth then I expected. I'm on the full version for about a week now, must say the best $5 i've spent on a finance app. BTW, I think i figured out why some folks couldn't get the 50 allowed records is because the lite version counts all repeat expense records toward the 50 limit.

Yep, I'm sold. Now have the full-version :)

So I've been browsing through all the finance apps out there, to see which one would help me get on top on my (excessive) spending in these tough economic times. Actually saw an ad in one magazine the other day for ixpenseit, and thought it might be worth a shot...so went on to try the trial lite version to start. Really nice of them to have a free trial version out there, shows that the developers are confident with all the features they offer in their app.
So basically I just set up my budget as my monthly paycheck amount (which I can set to start whenever i want, with flexible cycles, which isn't what all finance tracking apps offer apparently), and started entering all my expenses from there. Ran a report yesterday, and already noticed I have to cut back on the $5 cups of coffee every morning... the receipt photo image is cool, as for me, I also take the photo of the thing I purchased to make my report look more interesting :)
The support team is also very responsive, they responded to my question almost instantaneously! They also have a very solid website with tutorial videos and manuals, it's worth checking out.
So now I've bought the full-version, and hopefully I can start spending smarter so I won't be surprised every time I see my credit card bills anymore.

I have tried the iXpenseIt lite version for about a week before I bought the full version. Transition from the lite version to the full version is fairly painless with the backup/restore feature. I decided to try the free version first because I read some negative reviews about this app. After used it for about a week, I’m starting to suspect if those negative reviews were legitimate. There were complains about the budget feature and the tech support, both counts were so wrong! The custom budget is so flexible and it does a wonderful job of tracking and balancing different type of expenses for different budget periods. In term of tech support, while I was trying out the free version, I had emailed the tech support in 3 different occasions, each was responded almost immediately. I’m just glad I didn’t get turn away by some none merited negative reviews. I tried the app and fall in love with it!

Though this app is not perfect, but I disagree with the previous review about the speed of data input. I have compared about 1/2 dozen expense/budget apps out there. This app frankly is the FASTEST app in recording expenses. I do wish they can increase the number of records allowed in the trial version, but then again, I don't want to end up transfering too many records over to the full version if I decided to buy the full version. The budget portion in this app is not as strong, but if tracking expense is your main concern, this is a must try and must have app. Trust me!

This is a very handy app, don't listen to these idiots who think you cannot add money to your budget figure. They just aren't creative enough to realize that when you create a new item, the program automatically sets the transaction up to deduct money from your total budget (also known as spending), the inverse of this action only requires that you denote the monetary sum involved in the transaction as a negative! If you can't figure that out then: 1) You need something other than an iPhone app to help you manage your finances 2) I am suprised you can operate the device you are now holding That being said, spend the money on this app, I almost didn't even try it because of these idiots that write reviews after 10 seconds of using something and need instructions paraded in bright colors at every turn.

I found this program to be excellent. However, I was disappointed to find out that this is more of a "Demo" version that allows you to add 10 items. This was not expressed before hand here. To make things a bit worse, once you download the full version which sells at a reasonable price of $4.99, there is no way to import the 10 items I entered from the lite version into the full version. So I just wasted close to an hour of my time which I have to redo again. I think I'm being really nice with this review because it was a good program, with perfectly good reason to be disappointed.

This is a very good app and the recent update is an absolute cracker. Major improvements to the stability & increased entries from 10 to 50 make this very usable now. The only downer was that some of the customizable icons like the water tap icon have disappeared. Now I have to use the generic electric utility avatar for my water bill :-( Unlike some other reviewers, I found the controls & layout to be fairly intuitive & reasonably easy to figure out. I can also edit & delete catagories & subcatagories as I see fit. I really like the visuals and find it aesthetically pleasing. If this were a bit cheaper I would definitely consider the full version but as it stands, iExpensit Lite makes it into my budget.

Ok for me this is a great app. It does everything that it says, there are only a few things I wish it had...and a couple problems that need fixn.
Wish List:
1. Multiple Budgets (Detailed and Simple) - This would be good so I can keep my bank and credit budgets separate.
2. You should be able to create custom categories from the Budget section. I Shouldn't have to add a transaction to be able to create categories for them.
Problems:
1. The App randomly crashes just like most apps/games out there. The iPhone doesn’t have much memory and we are obviously running out.
2. There is a bug that happens randomly when I click on the budget section. Instead of two tabs that say “Simple” and “Detailed”, there is “Favorites” and “More”. Clicking either of the second pair does nothing and seems to lock up the app. Closing the app and restarting fixes the problem.
Everyone should check out this lite version and I would recommend buying this app if you wish to have total control of your money and start saving.

Great, but wish you could add income

This app is perfect for the way I track my spending. Although I realize this is a budget app, our spending/budgeting is based off one's income. I am not on a set income, and my budget can change from week to week. Therefore it would be extremely useful to simply be able to add an amount to my income when needed. Others seem to feel the same way - maybe we can look forward to an update to include this feature?!

Beware - does not give you 50 expense records

This seems lile a well-desiged app with great utility, at least I might imagine the full version is. This lite version promised 50 expense records allowing one to try it out and decide. Unfortunately, it only gave me 13 expense records - far less than advertised. I find this deception unacceptable and leaves me with a bad feeling. 2 stars for what seems to perhaps be an interesting app but can't give more since I was lied to. Go ahead and try but don't expect to get 50 records.

Nicest interface of all the expense tracking apps, however, the current next highest rated one is a fair amount faster launching, as well as slightly faster at saving new entries (this is on a iPhone 3GS). In the end, speed on a daily use basis is more important than pretty.
This does offer a lot more views of your data and has impressive reporting capabilities built-in. The budgeting features might also be attractive to some users (I was using purely to track business expenses).
In summary, work on the app speed and you'll have 5 stars!
