Reviews:
Great App! Pays for itself By: Jacob the Rater - Sep 21, 2009 Version: 2.4 This is a great app. I was keeping my checkbook, etc., on software on my desktop, but found it never was there when I needed it. You know what I mean. You're out of town for a few days, spending money, but have a hard time keeping track. Pocketmoney is great! It does everything my old desktop software did and much more than the app I purchased that matched the desktop software. I bought it to try it after growing very frustrated with another app and desktop software combo. The desktop software from the other company was good, but their app was not. It wouldn't keep a running balance, didn't help with budgeting, etc. I now do everything on my iPod touch. I keep all my financial info on the touch and have it at my fingertips whenever and whereever I need it. Pocketmoney keeps track in real time so I can enter bills at the first of the month, but know how much money I have today and after I pay each of those bills. It also allows me to easily clear each transaction, which is another lifesaver. It even has a slick budgeting feature that lets you set up a budget by catagory and has a sliding scale that tells you how you are faring depending on where you are in the month, week, quarter, year or whatever you set for your budget view. Overall, this is a fantastic app and well worth the price. Buy it, you'll be happy you did!
The only one i need! By: Coolcatfish - 29-Nov-2009 Version: 2.4.1 I've purchased several finance apps since getting my iPhone I've tried them all and each is good in some ways but pants in others. This app in my opinion is different. It's got a wonderfully simple layout. You can see all your accounts and their current balances at a glance and then explode those for more information. If you care to record it, you can store a wealth of info on where your money is going (or coming from). You can then with a tiny amount of effort set up aBudgeting plan which is again easy to see at a glance and of course updates itself as you record transactions on the account screens. This is probably my most used app and I'm super grateful I found it. If you are looking for a way to keep on top of finances and want to keep it simple with the option to add detail when 'you' want too then this app is a cracking choice.
Only Play with the Best! By: Canucktree - 15-Jul-2009 Version: 2.3 If you own an iPhone this is the only finance option that is out there! It is awesome if used as a trio with Check Please and MPG. It would be great if it truly synced with a desktop instead of an extremely clunky import / export product. Many other apps rule using iSync, iDisk, Mobile Me, but there is yet a finance app that I have found. Pocket Quicken, nor any of the Palm Proven-Sync software has come to the rescue, nor do I think they are coming soon. Therefore Catamount still gets 5 Stars. I just cannot go lower - it is that good.
Powerful, yet simple to use By: - Oct 30, 2009 Version: 2.4.1 Pocket Money gives you all the controls you need to keep up on your finances. It is simple to get started to track expenses or keep budgets, but you can dig in deeper and add more features. It uses Apple's interface perfectly. And if you can't figure out how to do something, the manual and video tutorials are excellent, something lacking for many iPhone apps. The developer is super responsive and can resolve any problem you might have. Pocket Money is simply the best.
works great! By: samela101 - Jul 24, 2008 Version: 1.0 This is a great application that can be as simple or as detailed as you want. The graphs were more than I expected, I thought that kind of functionaIity would be a long time in the works. I wanted an application that would sync with my computer, hopefully ms money. This application will do just that, soon, for free (unlike splash money which I found out after I paid for it *frown*), as soon as apple starts approving the updates already made by the developer. Also, the developer is very responsive to users (always a plus) especially on the forums. http://catamount.com/forums/index.php
The only complete Checking & Budgeting App By: iBrunos82 - Aug 15, 2009 Version: 2.3.2 Bottom line: This is the only complete app that features both accounts (checking register) and budgeting. I put this first because for $4.99 you should know what you are getting. I have an iPhone 3G S. I think its important to say that because I know apps work differently (better or worse) depending on which platform you are using. I tried iExpenseit, splashflow, checkregister, and various others. None of them have all these full features. I do not use the reconcile feature so I can not add neg/pos comment on that. The performance is pretty fast. Hasn't crashed on me as of yet. You can use in portrait and landscape mode. Very user friendly and nice graphics.
Continues to be the best By: Dennis Swaney - Oct 22, 2009 Version: 2.4.1 I've used PocketMoney since it was first released in the App Store and it has continued to top all other similar apps. The support on the Catamount Forums is top notch and has been from day one, with questions answered in less than 24 hours. That they aren't answered faster is simply due to time zones; I'm PT and Hardy is ET, so when I ask a question, he is probably asleep. However, when I get up the next morning the answer is there on the forum. I'm looking forward to the upcoming version 3. I used PocketQuicken on my Palm PDA, but PocketMoney on my iPhone has PQ soundly beat.
Superb By: LeviRules - Jul 14, 2008 Version: 1.0 Worth every penny. I used to keep track of transactions in the Note app the ships with the iPhone, and it was a hassle - I would bring these notes home and transfer them to an actual notebook to keep the balance of my accounts. This program does all of that for you. I have my checking account, our joint checking account, my savings account, PayPal, credit card balance and even an entry to keep track of how much money I have in the bank that isn't meant for bills (so I don't exceed spending limits in my budget). This program is worth every penny. The only thing I would have liked to see is an option to show the first bit of the "Notes" field of a transaction underneath the "To" or "From" field. Currently, for an example, if you sell something on eBay, and put that transaction in your checking account in PocketMoney, it will show up in the list of transactions as a deposit coming from PayPal - there is enough room underneath the "From" field (that says PayPal, in this instance) to display part of the note field - which could say "old iPhone auction." It is an extremely minor gripe - not worth chopping a star off for. Extremely useful app if you want to keep your finances organized.
Best Finance App Thus Far - Thumbs Up By: mappleby - 20-Sep-2009 Version: 2.4 I have tried all of the major checkbook and/or budgeting apps that are currently in the app store (as of 09/20/09) including: Checkbook, iBank, iXpenselt, Budget, Pennies, Cha-Ching, and Accounts-Checked to name a few. Though some of them were close to what I was looking for, none of them offer the level of customization as Pocket Money does. For me and my purposes, this is the perfect finance app and I'm sure it will be the perfect one for you as well. So don't waste your money on all the other Finance apps out there, pick this one up today, you won't regret it! (If you're still unsure, try their lite version, that's what had me sold).
Perfect By: Eklektic - Jul 13, 2008 Version: 1.0 Great app that works as a checkbook/account balancer for your personal bank account, credit card accounts as well as any others you want to create (including expense accounts). You can do a lot with this and really get into painful detail for each transaction you record, or you can keep it simple and enter just a few details. All the other programs in the app store are especially focused on expense accounts for business, but this one can also help you balance your personal accounts -- who doesn't want more functionality at the same price? Nice going, Catamount!

Super Awsome app! By: Amazed by Apple - Oct 24, 2009 Version: 2.4.1 Who needs Quicken? Quicken still lacks the “All Transactions” account; but Pocket Money has it!!! With PocketMoney I can not only see transactions from all accounts at once but I can also filter transactions from all accounts, working with them from within one register as if they were in one account. Try doing that in Quicken! As far as I am concerned this app is far better than Quicken. ‘Email transaction to partner’ is awesome for husband and wife with joint accounts. Reports are quick and easy with memorized filters. I find that I can assign categories like "*Materials" and ID#'s for transactions like "Inv 501" and thereby keep track of which invoices that the purchase {or return} of materials applies to. I also love the quick fill feature, it makes entering transactions fast! With Back up to desktop/Restore from desktop, data is safe… With Export to Desktop in CSV format, a filtered view report can be sent to desktop for use and adjustment in Excel... With these 3 apps I have happily replaced Quicken Home and Business... 1. PocketMoney 2. BillMinder (which integrates with PocketMoney) 3. Invoice2go (to create and eMail invoices) Please be patient with the developer. The fix for split transactions is coming! All it means for me is that I must not use split transactions for my business transactions for now. I usually don’t need to anyway. This must be the best and most useful app to ever hit the app store. Very, very well designed and worth it. I would gladly pay $30.00 for this app.
Excellent app By: FL grandma - Nov 4, 2009 Version: 2.4.1 I have used PocketMoney for years with Palm T/X. When I got an iPod Touch, I thought I wanted a financial app with companion Desktop app. I used iBank and SplashMoney. Both were exercises in frustration. Now, I am using Pocket Money. It is well organized, clear, concise, easy to use, and, provides spaces for all essential account information. Also, I like the opportunity to save data to e-mail. I hope PocketMoney for iPhone/iPod Touch is as dependable as the app for Palm T/X.

How to make Bi-Weekly/Starting Budgets By: maniaprincess - Nov 16, 2009 Version: 2.4.1 For all the reviewers that can't figure out how to make a bi-weekly repeating transaction. Create a Weekly repeating transaction, and set it to occur Every 2 weeks. You can do the same thing to create bi-monthly or quarterly repeating events. The repeating transactions are very flexible. To "aymazing": you can set your starting budget date by tapping on the Eye Icon and setting Starting Budget Date. You all also might want to check out Catamount's very useful forums or email support to ask your question before posting reviews that can be answered in 5 seconds.
Best app in the entire store! By: ferris209 - Dec 12, 2009 Version: 2.4.1 Coming from a combo of MS Money/Ultrasoft/Palm for a few years, I kind of had a hard time moving up when I got my iPhone. I actually kept the Palm around for the sole purpose of entering my receipts. Well, finally I saw the light! After I downloaded PocketMoney Lite and converted my old .mny file to qif and transferred it to my iPhone, I was blown away. Add in intergration with My Bills and we have an absolute winner!! Hardy is probably the best dang developer period and he listens to everything his customers have to say. Unlike Ultrasoft, which does not care any bit about any of their customers at all, I was so glad to get rid of them. I now intend to take my old Palm oustide, startup Ultrasfot Money, and then put a hole right through the screen with my H&K .40 Compact pistol!! Hardy, you are the best and keep up the great work. As I understand PocketMoney will soon have a big upgrade to 3.0 and be getting a fresh new desktop edition to sync with my iPhone!! The only thing that would be better is if Hardy sends me a dozen freshly baked Macadamia Nut Cookies!! Thanks man!!
Best one out there! By: johngummadi - Nov 12, 2009 Version: 2.4.1 I've tried a couple of apps for my expense tracking, this is the best one so far! I love the way it integrates the expenses and incomes into its budget module (Although I'd love if there is a way to show opening balances as income in the budegt calculation, may be in next version) I'm usually careless spender, but with Pocket Money, it shows where I'm spending more and allows me to be cautious especially during this time of recession. And I love the auto fill feature, it speeds up your data entry. Five stars!!!
