Description:
NOTE: Price Book app only contains user entered pricing data and does not contain data entered by the developer. SUPPORT: All emails for support receive a timely response and I really appreciate hearing from you if you have any issues. MAJOR NEW RELEASE - now Price Book comes with a companion website = www.pricebook.aerende.com, where you can enter and store your Price information using your desktop keyboard and import that information to your Price Book app on your iPhone/iPod Touch. Once your Price Book app is registered with the website, changes you make to your information on your device are automatically exported to the website to be safely stored (when you have network connectivity). On the website, you can also email Items w/Prices and individual prices to friends. You need to install a copy of Price Book on an iPhone/iPod touch to be able to use the features on the Price Book website. If your copy of Price Book is deleted on your device for whatever reason or by accident you delete a price from your device, you can import your data from the website back to your iPhone/iPod Touch where your price information has been safely stored, after you have reinstalled the Price Book app. There are five video tutorials on the www.pricebook.aerende.com website showing how to use the Price Book app with the website under the header "Videos". Two steps to use the www.pricebook.aerende.com website: 1) Signup for a free account on the website = www.pricebook.aerende.com, 2) In the Price Book app, on the export page, click on Register. That's it! This new version 2.0.0 of Price Book provides a few new features that have been requested by many users of Price Book. The following is a summary with full details at the bottom: 1) price/units are now calculated across all prices for an item based on smallest unit per unit group of fluids, weight, length, area, 2) items and prices can be imported and exported from the www.pricebook.aerende.com website to/from the Price Book app on your device, 3) sale field added to Edit Prices, 4) on price page, sales are indicated by a red letter "S" on the price page 5) on price page, coupons are indicated by a red letter "C" on the price page.Price/unit is now calculated within four unit groups: 1) Fluids, 2) Weight, 3) Length, 4) Area, between both metric and english units. Then the prices are sorted within each unit group. For example, maybe laundry soap can be purchased in liquid and dry form, so there are prices for 1) quart, 2) liter, 3) kg, 4) ounce. The price/unit will be shown in per quart for 1) and 2) and in per ounce for 3) and 4) and then sorted so that the cheapest price per unit group is at the top. The items stored in your Price Book can be searched on by typing in a few of the letters of the item. A list of prices can be created for each item that includes 1) Location, 2) Zipcode (Default is filled in by GPS), 3) Date (Default = Today's date), 4) Price, 5) Quantity, 6) Units (selected from table), 7) Brand (optional), 8) Coupon (optional), 9) Notes (optional). The quantity can be entered, and the price is stored on a quantity one basis. E.G. if milk is $2/gallon, then the price entered would be $2 and the quantity could be 4 with units = quarts, so the price would be stored as $0.50 with the units being quarts. The stored prices can be edited and they can also be sorted over based on 1) Date, 2) Price, 3) Location. Prices are displayed with 1) Location, 2) Total Price, 3) Brand, 4) Price per unit, 5) Date, 6) Quantity in package (e.g. 16 oz/pkg, 4.5 lb/pkg)

Reviews:
Great app! By: biblestamps - Sep 15, 2009 Version: 1.40 This review is for version 1.40. I am very pleased with it. The app is straightforward and does just what it should do...it has the basics of a solid price book. Let me start the next round of praises with this: I am not related to the developer and I didn't even know him until I emailed with a customer support question. So you can believe me when I say that this developer definitely sets the bar high for others when it comes to customer satisfaction and continually improving already good apps. I had made a suggestion for some features I would like to see (a couple of which are in this version and a couple of which are coming soon) and from there it turned into a fairly in-depth back and forth, lengthy email conversation regarding this app. I can say without any doubt that he really takes time to listen to what users are saying and what they'd like to have and he considers every suggestion and tries to implement as many as possible in a user-friendly manner that will meet various needs and expectations of users across the board. I am excited for the new features that are planned but even as the app stands now, I give it 5 stars. :)
From the Developer By: AerendeDeveloper - Oct 19, 2009 Version: 2.0.0 The data loss with upgrades that was a big problem is FIXED now that this new version of Price Book 2.0.0 has a companion website where your data is stored safely. Your data can be entered on the website and downloaded to your device. And changes to your data are automatically uploaded to your account on the website once you register your device with the website. There are also a number of new features such as prices can be compared across units in the same unit group. Unit groups are: 1) weights, 2) fluids, 3) lengths, 4) areas.
Liking the new version and website! By: Frugal Lady - Oct 21, 2009 Version: 2.0.0 I just found out that the new version lets me enter prices on the price book website and I can download them to the app on the iphone. I find it easier to enter in long lists of prices on the website at my desktop and then port it to the phone for when I go shopping. It also works the other way around: when I go shopping, I edit or add prices on the fly on my phone, which also updates the prices on the website automagically. To the reviewers who lost their price data with updates: what worked for me is to export my prices via email as a CSV file and then I loaded the CSV file into the website; the site and the app are set up for that. Yay for saving money!!
Great Start, Needs a little work By: Rob Fredette - May 25, 2009 Version: 1.0 I give the idea for this application 5 stars. The only reason I am rating it a little low is that version 1.0 has a few small bugs. I have emailed the developer and hope that a new version will be out with fixes shortly. This app could grow into a must have for iUsers. Different stores have the same product but packaged in different ways. Our local bulk outlet store has 128 US oz. bottles of juice at one price. The local supermarket has 2 liter bottles at a different price. Which one is the better buy? And imagine if you could enter information from the local flyers so you can know if something is a good buy elsewhere or not? Lots of potential, let's hope that development continues!
Finally a price book app By: key134 - May 11, 2009 Version: 1.0 I have been waiting for a price book app, I even considered making one myself. But, I didn't, and it's a good thing. Price Book Comparison Shopper does the job well. There aren't a lot of bells and whistles, but that makes sense, considering a price book is something that can be done with a pen and paper. Pros Gets the job done Keeps historical data Handles units/comparison well Sorting Cons (in order) There is no default date (the current day would be nice) There is no confirm on delete (I already accidentally deleted something) Every entry is manual, there are no pre-filled options You cannot add an item from the search screen (yes, you add from the home screen, but why is it separate?) No auto-capitalization on the Add Item input field (kinda nitpicky, but irritating) Because of the unit comparison, you lose the original quantity of items (it would be nice if it were kept somewhere) Wishlist A default date! A notes field for each item Default options for units (probably including "unit") Graphs (not terribly necessary) Export data (I want to be able to play with it in another program and have a backup) Overall, I recommend the app. It just needs a bit of polish. Either way, it does exactly what I need it to do, unlike those pesky "Grocery list" apps.

Great App By: KatieJewel - 15-Oct-2009 Version: 2.0.0 I have had this app for a while now. Had some problems with loosing data when updated. Hopefully that won't happen anymore with the website to upload from. Definitely worth the money.
Not bad By: Tarain - Jun 23, 2009 Version: 1.1 Needs to be updated, but it's not bad. I would like to save my entry without filling out every field. I would like to have the option of having my list alphabetically or by category. I would also like the items under each letter category to be saved in alphabetical order. Lastly, I would like the crashes to end. However, I have noticed that if I enter all info that shows on screen first and then scroll all the way down and enter what is left, without moving the screen again, it crashes much less.
Soooo Close! By: Jonmon95 - Jun 25, 2009 Version: 1.2 I have been searching high and low for an app that I can use to find the best grocery deals to feed my family. I want to use my iphone rather than carry around a notebook. This app is so close to meeting the mark. I wish it had some drop down options for filling in the data(ex. numbers for price) so that you didn't have to use the keyboard. Also wish there was some default info (ex. date). I don't like that you have to enter all the areas before you can save. I think once the info is loaded it will be very helpful but the thought of standing in a grocery store entering all the info to get started is overwhelming! It would also be great if you could search by store so that as you are shopping you could just update the info for that store without searching individual items. This is the closest thing I have found so I'm sticking with it but updates would be appreciated!
Useful for Bargain Shoppers By: Rerun7 - Sep 25, 2009 Version: 1.40 I have never kept a price book because of how complicated it seemed but now that I have this app I am well on my way to keeping up with all the sales. I am appreciative for the recent update which added alphebetization. I have contacted the developer about a couple of other improvements like being able to edit a title and also having a field for the brand name. I have been very impressed with his responsiveness and willingness to work with my suggestions. It looks like this will be a five-star app with the next update.
Crashes By: Ingtoffer - Jul 1, 2009 Version: 1.2 It crashes every time I try to add a item or price or anything.Tried to email the devoloper and it goes to a not found page.
Can't sort By: Linda Etterlee - Jul 14, 2009 Version: 1.2 I would love to give this app a 5 star rating BUT you can not sort you product list. Being able to sort this alphabetically should be a minimum. When it is fixed my rating will go up.
Needs an update By: maryanntherese - Jul 30, 2009 Version: 1.3 Update: crashing seems to be fixed in the latest release. This is glitchy, and will crash when entering prices. All fields must be filled out before the app will accept a price entry. One field is "oldquant" and I have no idea what I am supposed to put there. Coupon and Notes must also be filled in for the entry to be accepted. Am looking forward to an update.
Not well done, buggy By: Kittycon - Aug 30, 2009 Version: 1.40 I used this when it was the only option. But it is really poorly done. Too many screens to enter a price. It's just awkward.
N By: Bargainshop - Aug 30, 2009 Version: 1.40 App worked great until most recent up date. It took a little time to put items in but once they were in it was easy to use and very helpful at the store. With the update all previous stored information was lost and now it crashes every time I try to reload info.
Save your money By: Mcass20 - Aug 7, 2009 Version: 1.31 I had big hopes for this app. What a shame! This app is missing many fundamental aspects of a solid pricebook app.
