I don't know if most of the retard reviews were written before an update or what, but this game IS NOT too difficult. As a matter of fact, it seems to be too easy on the lowest difficulty. I won my very first game EASILY, and then won my second game without losing a single checker!! So, ignore all the clueless people regarding difficulty. Also, the game does not freeze...it's called force jump, and it's how u play checkers. Get a clue and turn it off if u don't like it. This is a very solid checkers app, especially for the price! Download with confidence...and if you can't beat the computer on the easiest setting, you'd better just find an easier game period...perhaps tic-tac-toe

pretty good in my experience. I'm no checkers buff but it serves my purposes. I think it'd be funny to add an option so that if you shake the phone vigorously a certain number of times the board gets flipped over and all the pieces go flying around. You could call it the "aggressive forfeit" or something. Maybe it would promote bad checkers etiquette among 3rd graders but as long as now one has to pick up the pieces I don't see any real harm.

I used to hate the game of checkers, but then I played Optime Software's game. It is really fun & a must have. Optime Software, please try to come out with the board game Stratego. I love that game. You could make it free & include features like different backrounds, multipule colors for the pieces & different difficulties like novice (for beginners & includes tips) medium (a little harder) difficult (it is difficult to win) & extreme (which is nearly impossible to defeat.) If you cannot come out with Stratego, try to get another company to work for you and sell it. I look forward to playing Stratego!

NOTE TO PEOPLE EXPERIENCING CRASHES: This applied to every sigle app that is built-in or added to your device - for best functionality of any app, especially the larger, more complex ones, it's best to do a full reboot before beginng your game. It's the iPhone or iPod that is •typically• causing the crash, not the app itself.This company is getting great at this type of game, and the only gripe I can muster would be the ability to alter or choose the movement sound that is borrowed from your other games, and instead allow a swoosh or much gentler audible feedback than that incessant popping that isn't appropriate here.I love your apps! :)

A few issues though:1. No mandatory capture. Isn't that a basic rule in checkers that if u can capture a piece that u must with no options? Kinds ruins the stratagy portion of sacrifing pieces in order to setup bigger moves. Computer blatantly ignores jumps ok occassion.2. The double jump crash. If u select jump again and select the peice again it crashes. 3. This has happened only once but the computer didn't have a move to make (so I should have won) but instead the computers back line peice simply became a king! What is that?!?!

Its a good thing I'm a better chess player than checkers. I get my tail whipped by the computer 7 out of 10 times. But all in all, its cool. The only suggestion I have is to add an option where the king can jump more than one space. I don't know the true rules of checkers but when i was younger, we played where the king could move the entire lenght of squares from one end of the board to the other if it was open. Would be nice to add that as an option.

My son, who is just learning to play checkers at school, age 6 wanted an app he could play on my iPhone. He instantly knew how to play this one and took to it in no time. I had to practically pry my iPhone from him to get him to go to bed.
The ads on the bottom are a bit bothersome, and he kept hitting them by accident, but since he liked it so much, I will probably end up buying the pay for version.

It's free, come on give it a chance! It's classic checkers! For free! I would have given it  stars if there weren't other apps on the loading screen. If you accidentally tap one it brings you to the app store. I see people are not very happy with the new update. Good thing I didn't update mineIn the new update there's no more undo button. So I didn't update it. Now I'm always gonna win

This game is quite nice. It's graphics are very well done and the game is east to understand even for beginners. And it is nice that you can adjust how hard the computer plays. A great way for passing the time on the bus with a friend or when you have nothing else to do and want to beat a computer fairly fast. Overall it deserves five stars.

This isn't your ordanary checkers game, this is the best checkers game ever made. 1st of all, its free. 2nd, the difficulty ranges from like easy to crazy hard. This is the ultamate checkers game!

First of all if you're only problem is the new interface, here's an idea, turn the new interface it OFF!!!, duh!!, it's real easy and if you're having trouble finding out how, game options are USUALLY found in the options menu. Not to mention the new interface ain't that bad. Great game, especially since you can set the difficulty level.
