GORGEOUS!!!  rating of Dream Chronicles

The graphics in this game are absolutely stunning. I've had no problems with crashing and am finding the puzzles to be challenging enough to hold my interest. Story line is good and I've hardly used anything else on my phone all day. It can be tricky finding the various objects when you don't know what you're looking for, but it's part of the challenge. Overall, love it and feel it's easily worth $2.99, for the rich graphics alone. I totally love Art Nouveau style and want to live in this beautiful world they've created!

I thought that this game was excellent. It has beautiful graphics that almost seem lifelike, and the story line reels you in like bait. This game actually makes you use your brain and think through its many puzzles whilst entertaining you with the city of Wish. The description that follows each gem makes things more interesting as well. The only problems you may encounter are the very few glitches, and the fact that you have to restart a level all over again if you quit in the middle of it. Nonetheless, this game will keep you entertained for hours. For all of you mystery-, adventure-, fantasy-, and even romance-loving gamers out there, this game is just for you.

Enjoying this...  rating of Dream Chronicles

I bought this with an iTunes gift card I got for Mother's Day. To be honest, I really wasn't sure what to expect. It seemed interesting, so thought I'd give it a try. It's actually a pretty cool game. It's a nice relaxed game for me. Most of my other games are either timed or fast paced. (much like my life!) So it's a nice break from craziness. I only get to play my games once everyone is in bed, so I am still working my way through, but so far I'm enjoying it!  I haven't had any problems with this game, downloading & play work fine for me.

An enchanting adventure  rating of Dream Chronicles

I remember playing Myst when I was younger and how I was completely taken in by the beautiful graphics and the different, almost casual, relaxed approach to gaming. Up to that point, I was bombarded with shooter type games and platformers. While I know many are awaiting the arrival of Myst, I’m happy to say that Dream Chronicles, a puzzle adventure game, not only fills the void in the iTunes store, it is a solid title in its own right with decent storyline content. As you would expect, Dream Chronicles follows a linear storyline consisting of a series of static pages and is not heavily animated. Having said that, the environments are vibrantly presented and well done, even when you zoom in. The first thing people will ask about is the length of game time. Games such Dream Chronicles and Myst should be experienced and enjoyed, not rushed through in three or four hours.
You play a woman named Faye, who wakes up one day to find that Lilith, the Fairy Queen of Dreams has cast a sleeping spell over the kingdom. In addition, your husband Fidget missing, and your child Lyra is under a deep sleep spell. Dream Chronicles has 18 chapters with a total of 32 puzzles. As a player, you have full use of what I like to call the 4 iPotch senses—Drag, Zoom, Pan, and Tap. Within each of chapter and puzzle, you use a variety of these senses to view, move and implement items. In each case, your first task is to collect things that you will need to solve the puzzle. The music is very mellow, almost too mellow and adds significantly to the feel of the game. I suggest you play with the soundtrack on…really. A basic slide show tutorial is included and reviews the iPotch senses I mentioned above. Tapping around randomly to find things can be difficult so after a certain period of time, a twinkling light will appear in the area you should be looking, which comes in handy. None of the puzzles are extremely difficult, but you will have to think. In addition, your progress is saved as you complete levels.
Here are the chapters:
Chapter 1 - Bedroom
Chapter 2 - Hallway
Chapter 3 - Lyra’s Room
Chapter 4 - Bridge
Chapter 5 - Tree House
Chapter 6 – Backyard
Chapter 7 – Library
Chapter 8 - Secret Room
Chapter 9 - Parlor
Chapter 10 - Garden
Chapter 11 - Green House
Chapter 12 - Statue
Chapter 13 - Puppet Theatre
Chapter 14 - In Town
Chapter 15 - Forest
Chapter 16 - In Front of the Mansion
Chapter 17 - The Mansion
Chapter 18 - Final Puzzle Room
The objective is twofold: solve the various puzzles (looking for items and finding solutions) and collect crystals to complete the Dream Jewels. The Dream Jewels serve no purpose other than for bonus points at the end of the game, but it’s still fun to look for them. Most of the time, you will rely on the zoom function to locate these jewels because they are not always in obvious places. Something to keep in mind is that everything you collect within a puzzle (other than the crystals), will be used in that specific puzzle so you won’t need to worry about holding onto items to use several chapters later.
As you enter each scene, Fidget offers some narrative (no audible voiceover) to set the tone. During gameplay, you have the inventory bar at the bottom of the screen which is where items you pick up are collected as well as the pause button which gives you the option of going back to the main menu. At the bottom right hand corner is the diary of Faye’s husband Fidget, which you acquire in the first puzzle. This diary is essential as it provides details on Fidget’s family history and the Fairy world and can be accessed at anytime. The diary is categorized by Map and Chapters. The Map shows your progress through the levels and by tapping on any of them, you access the in-depth story behind each puzzle that you’ve completed or are in progress. The Chapters section is an overview of the Dream Jewels and keeps track of the jewels you collect and where they fit within each Dream Jewel.
As I mentioned, one of the strengths of Dream Chronicles is the content. For example, by tapping on an item such as a lamp or a plant, a short description will appear describing the item and any family history. As with Myst, Dream Chronicles is about figuring out a mystery by looking at everyday items and piecing them together. In one puzzle, you may be fixing the wheels on a broken wagon and in another, you’ll be digging holes in a backyard. Obviously, these all lead to something else and are integral to progressing to the next environment.
Dream Chronicles is not for everyone because this is a puzzler at its core, and as I mentioned, intended to be enjoyed over a period of time. For me, it’s a solid and rewarding game that I think it will be a worthwhile experience for many of you.

Well worth 2.99!  rating of Dream Chronicles

Took a punt on this and thoroughly enjoyed it. Was totally engrossed and nicely frustrated - good to have puzzles you really have to think about :-) Highly recommended - suits the Touch/iPhone format perfectly & can't wait for the sequel...
Edited to add: I've played this a few times now (love the artwork) and it's crashed once - don't understand why others are having problems but as with all apps, would advise rebooting Touch/iPhone once loaded (don't just turn off & on, hold down home & power button at same time until silver Apple logo appears). Bit gutted that I got this before the sale but was worth full price :-) Still can't wait for the sequel...

Beautiful fairyworld quest  rating of Dream Chronicles

Puzzles to solve, clues to find, objects to assemble and many questions to be answered. Best of all . . not a single monster, villain or enemy to shoot at or be shot at from! All without an annoying time limit. Heaven! Imagine my delight when I started playing the game and found how well thought out and beautifully crafted the storyline was. The scenery is gorgeous, it pulls you in and makes you want to spend time in the make-believe world of Wish. As you follow the map, exploring rooms, gathering gems and solving tasks, slowly teasing out what has happened to your family, you get one step closer to rescuing them. In Dream Chronicles each puzzle is uniquely different, assuring that you never lose interest. Most games that I have played rely on the standard tried and true 6 or 7 basic puzzles throughout.** Rush to get this app at the sale price! It is well worth it. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because you can not listen to your own music while you play the game and unfortunately there is no hint option.

Stuck at the End  rating of Dream Chronicles

I have had no problems at all in playing this game as far as crashing and downloading is concerned. As for playing the game itself, I've ran into a few roadblocks along the way. I see some of you are having trouble finding the key in the dollhouse. That was a tricky level because I only figured out in time that you must get the sequence of flipping light switches correct before all the lights come on...only then will the key be revealed. I think it's somewhere on the second floor of the house. And the other place I had trouble was at the Wish Scale Gate. It took me a week, playing a few hours a day and getting frustrated and having to quit, before I figured it out. Don't pick up everything you see right at the beginning....once your inventory bar is full you can't pick up anything else and there are some items that YOU WILL NOT USE! So if you're holding those, you can't pick up the ones you need to open the gate with. I remember that you will definately need the porcelain doll, the teddy bear, 2 books, and either the orange or the grapes for the fruit. These items are placed on the appropriate pole to unlock the gate. Good luck with this one, I almost smashed my iPod I was so angry trying to get past this! Now I'm at the end in The Mansion and I've looked for a week now, all around the little "hint" and ......NOTHING! Has anyone else gotten this far or can anyone tell me what to do next?
thanks

Expected more game play  rating of Dream Chronicles

When purchasing this game I expected more because the cost of $5.00- more than games such as Sally spa, dinner dash ...etc The graphics are pretty neat but is that it? The puzzles were easy to solve- after poking around here & there. The end? Is that really it? Honestly.....or is there a continuation to come bc I am confused! update: After doing some research it is found that there are 3 games of Dream Chronicles thus far. I still feel that the game should have had more game time.....that or I just can't handle the suspense until the release of part 2 & 3

Okay, not that fun  rating of Dream Chronicles
By: Sophia2M - 18-Jul-2009

Overall the game is great: graphics, music, sound effects, storyline...all very polished. But it just wasn't fun. The gameplay didn't captivate me as much as a similar game, RTMI, did. I enjoyed the puzzles; I think those are what left the best impression on me, and were much better done than in RTMI. However, the hidden object aspect of this game, in a word, sucked. It's night time in several scenes/maps, and you literally have to randomly click around and hope you get something. There are hints (ie, the sparkles), but it was still frustrating and took a lot of fun out of it. Oh, and the game takes about 4-5 hours to finish, which isn't bad but isn't that good. Did I mention that there's no save option? In all, get this game for the puzzles, but you've been warned: horrible hidden object searches, lack of fun gameplay, and a steep pricetag. PS: for the reviewer below, the charger is the mysterious book in the magic category. You have to put the book on the floor, open it, and put the crystal inside...didn't make any sense to me either.

This was a really really fantastique game. I absolutely j'adore it. But the problem with this game is that it crashes a lot and because of that i am not able to continue the wonders of dream chronicles. You can still buy this game and enjoy it and see what its like but it would still crash. For all dream chronicles lovers, i would recommend downloading the game from your computer as it will not crash and you could play it fully without any interruptions. Overall it was a fabulous game with an interesting puzzle and i would still try it out if i was you just to see what it is like. Farewell ma peepz

I loved this beautiful game. It is one of the only games I have played where the story line holds up throughout the entire game. The puzzles are really well thought out, and just the right degree of difficulty.
I feel like the zoom function needs improvement as the gems are small and hard to see. We have played it through three times and no problems.
I really hope that they bring the next in the series to the iTouch.

Great so far, but hints you can't disable make it too easy to begin with  rating of Dream Chronicles

Just played my first half an hour with this game, and I like it a lot. The presentation is great, with beautiful graphics and music. However, I have managed to make my way through several locations already, with some of the puzzles being very easy. The problem is that sometimes the game helps you even when you don't want any help! You could be looking around the screen for an object you need, and if you don't find it within a few seconds, you will see a flash of light in the general location of where the object can be found! I would much rather not have that kind of help, yet there is no option to turn that off. With that kind of help, I am curious as to how long this game will last. Saying that, it does get harder later, though not impossible.
It hasn't crashed once on my iPhone 3GS either, contrary to other reviewers experience. Perhaps they should restart their device.
Overall, this game is a great experience, and well worth the cash- it's only the price of a sandwich and a chocolate bar after all. Get it.
