Description:
FINAL FANTASY Initially released in Japan in 1987, the original FINAL FANTASY amazed audiences with its rich story and stunning graphics. Players guide the Warriors of Light as they set out on a quest to restore the crystals to their former luster. Its side view battles, choice and promotion of character classes, and sprawling world explored with fantastic vehicles quickly became standards of the series. This game set the stage for all FINAL FANTASY games to come. This edition also contains the bonus dungeons added to later editions of the game--the Soul of Chaos and the Labyrinth of Time.

Reviews:
Faithful Port By: Duality84 - Feb 26, 2010 Version: 1.0.0 You can't help but give this one 5 stars, I'm glad to see Final Fantasy here and $9 is not bad at all; especially when you consider that the comparable PSP version will run you in the neighborhood of $15-$20. This game looks great, sounds great and brings me right back to the good old days of playing the original on my NES. I'll definitely be getting a lot of life out of this game as well as FFII later on. Great job Square Enix!
A remarkable remix to a classic game By: Chinito77 - Feb 26, 2010 Version: 1.0.0 It's still a little odd to see a Final Fantasy game on the iphone but I think it was done really well and worth the wait. I'm going to post the cons so that Square Enix will hopefully read this and make some changes to this beautiful game. The new touch menus are neat but the sound effect is VERY LOUD!!! I have to turn down the volume to just 2 bars when playing in a quiet environment. Hopefully the next version will give us an option to tailor the game sounds a bit. I am not a fan of giant directional buttons on the screen. It's not very response and quite a few times I have to stretch my thumbs to move from left to right or up and down. Please give us a "touch/tap to move option". The RPG Vay did a nice job utilizing this moving scheme. The font is a little strange. Can we please make the "Y" and "G" look normal?Having to redo each attack per turn can get a little annoying. Can you include a button that loops the last command you gave to your party during battles?
I can't believe the bad reviews!!! By: A MAD MOOGLE - Feb 25, 2010 Version: 1.0.0 Are you kidding me? This game doesn't need any tweaks at all. Of course the D-pad is a little weird but that's because this is an iPhone. It takes a couple minutes to get used to for any game. What a bunch of idiots. Buy this you will not regret. Not to mention these are ported from the PSP titles which were $20 so this price is already a steal.Square Enix thank you so much and rest assured I will be here for any other game you port FF3, FF4, FF5, FF6 and Chrono Trigger? Please??? Show your support and buy not only the second best RPG (FF2=best) on the App Store but the best game overral!!! Spectacular Galore!!!!!
This is pretty good. By: tclebron - Feb 25, 2010 Version: 1.0.0 There are very few apps that I actually enjoy having, most are clunky and unresponsive. Final Fantasy I for the iPhone/iPod Touch is hands down the best app game to come out yet. The price alone beats what you'll have to pay for the game on ANY other console if you don't have it already, let alone the portable versions that run above $20 USD. Although this is the classic game, it's dissimilar due to how easy it is. Regardless, I'm pretty excited to waste my break time at work nerding it up in the break room.
Yay! By: marceadgbe - Feb 25, 2010 Version: 1.0.0 I just want to vent on people that buy a game and the same day write a review when they know nothing about it. Grats on being an idiot and not mentioning a thing about the actual game to help people decide weather to buy or not. Go back to grade school and learn how to composite a review on a subject (not to hard). Thanks for your countless spam you trash itunes with that I have to search through to find a REAL review. Of course you should buy this game its FF! on ipod. Thanks SQUARE ENIX
AMAZING! I just have a few gripes, nothing major. By: ScottN - Feb 25, 2010 Version: 1.0.0 First off, just buy this game. Its GREAT. The graphics are so well done, the music is good, the control is near perfect and its just a lot of fun to play. Its a great trip back memory lane. There are a few quirks that I would like to see fixed in an update, but nothing major. In a few spots (such as some towns and dungeons) the game will lag. Nothing bad but its noticeable. Also the sound effects are really loud. Much louder then the music. And, thats about it for gripes. I love everything else about the game. Its extremely well done and I hope to see more and more of this :)Maybe Illusion of Gaia someday?
Incredible! By: Squenix Fanboy - Feb 25, 2010 Version: 1.0.0 I now have 4 versions of this game and it just keeps getting better! The hand drawn sprites are great! Every time I play this game it brings back memories of when I first played it years ago! Thank you Square for porting this incredible game to the iPhone.Their is a slight lag sometimes (rare I might add), and the D pad is huge! But these are such a small bother that I even hesitated to mention them!If you're looking for a great game to kill a lot of time with then FF1 & 2 are a must buy. They will not dissapoint.
Brilliant By: Richie104 - 25-Feb-2010 Version: 1.0.0 I remember playing this game back in 1989 on a japanese import and it was so good. So I waited up all night to get this get this game but fell asleep at 11:30.So at 7:00 this morning I was all excited, and then I saw the price! £5.49 i couldn't believe it. So I ummed and arreed, and finally decided to take the plunge. I have played it for 4 hours at work today at every available opportunity. It is so good, I would even go so far as to say it's better than the original. Everyone who considers themselves a gamer on any level should own this game. Especially if you like your retro games. So to make a long story short this game is brilliant!
Absolutely Brilliant By: dr_kilmoff - 25-Feb-2010 Version: 1.0.0 I can't think of anything better than playing Final Fantasy on the iPhone. It's a brilliant port as good as the PSP version if not better looking. Controls are slightly odd but you get used to it. A definite purchase for any hardened FF fan and a must by for anyone who plays games on the go. Your bus or train journey will fly by!! Not a bad price too considering you'll be playing it for hours. Stop reading this review and buy it.
Best RPG to date on iPhone By: Paido - 26-Feb-2010 Version: 1.0.0 The same greatness now in iPhone format. The game keeps all the classical elements of old and comes with great improvments. For example, the characters are now automaticly re-targeting after a monster is killed. Of course, there is improved graphics and sound, including new animations and new scores.Bug: Although, I've been playing for almost two hours and it crashed twice already after a battle. Until Square Enix fix it : Save often. It's free and you can do it anywhere...

Awesome refresh of a classic By: mctonyb - 26-Feb-2010 Version: 1.0.0 I'll keep it simple; if you liked the NES version, you will love it on the iPhone and iPod Touch! Graphics, sound, gameplay, even the controls are all better in every way. The redesigned fight sequence is far more intuitive than the original and saving games has also been vastly improved. I am totally blown away.I would recommend this to Final Fantasy legionnaires as well as anyone that is looking for huge depth in a game with tonnes of re-playability. Great, great value.
Square Enix does it again By: Moltari - 26-Feb-2010 Version: 1.0.0 every time i see a Square Enix game, i get excited, and when i saw that they where re-releasing FF1 for the iphone.. i was exstatic.. one of my all time favorite games, with a inntuitive interface... already listed as #1 in the Top grossing catagory in the app store, and only around for one day.Dear Square.. keep releasinng them! i can't wait to see if they do a release of 7 or such for the iPad when it's out
Reunited and it feels so good... By: TWMorningstar - Feb 26, 2010 Version: 1.0.0 Always nice to see an old friend, but you don't need to be a fan boy to appreciate this game. If you are a fan of the series I recommend this game. If you are a RPG fan I recommend this game. Find out why this franchise has been around for so long by experiencing the first installment! Sometimes I wish the UI was a little easier, you can press the wrong thing easily. Small gripe for a sweet game. FFII here I come...and I will totally explode if they release III ;P
Better and Worse than PSP By: Xanduur - Feb 25, 2010 Version: 1.0.0 This iteration of the FF series has its highs and lows when compared to the PSP version. Highs include: $9 versus $25, no UMD to load from, upgraded graphics.Lows include: When traveling through towns there is slowdown not seen on the PSP version, which is silky smooth.I have owned both and while the stuttering framerate in town is bothersome, the other bonuses to having FFI and FFII on my iPhone FAR outweigh carrying around a PSP to play these games.I HOPE that SE chooses to bring III, IV, V and VI to the iTunes store as well, but I don't expect to see them any time soon.
Yay!!! First review! By: Awesome ninja guy - Feb 25, 2010 Version: 1.0.0 This is probably the best rpg on the iPhone and iPod touch right now. Though the graphics aren't as good as some of the other RPGs, the story excels. BTW for anyone that bought the psp remake of FF1&2, they are ports of those. (I don't have em for psp). at 8 bucks their a steal as opposed to 20 bucks. Has one of the best D-pads in game for iPod and iPhone!!! Although the game sometimes lags... Also, the pause menu is annoying to get into. It would also be nice if there were better battle animations... Overall, great purchase!! You can get 2 games for the price of one of the psp remakes!
I'm downloading it right now...!!! By: MerryMerryChristmas - Feb 26, 2010 Version: 1.0.0 OMG can't wait to start a new game !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Worth getting By: Weaver88 - Feb 26, 2010 Version: 1.0.0 If it's your first time playing or own it on other systems. Its A must have app. Only downfall is not being able to change background or one touch button in battles, got to click the enemy. Small price to pay for such a great game. Great price too.
By Far Best RPG in App Store By: Knopfler15 - Feb 26, 2010 Version: 1.0.0 Here comes the review of a newcomer. Suprisingly, I have gone my whole life without playing a FF game, so when I saw this show up in the app store, I took a dive. And I couldn't be more impressed. If you are a fan of FF, I would think this would be a no brainer, but even if you've never managed to get yourself involved with this franchise, start with this because it is freaking awesome.
RPG fun By: Thomas O'Donald - Feb 26, 2010 Version: 1.0.0 If you enjoy FF u will love this game... It is fun and enjoyable... The controls work great with the iPhone!!!
Cool game By: Darth baider - Feb 26, 2010 Version: 1.0.0 Fire emblem or final fantasy tactics should be on here. Gt nentendo involved.
