Wow. I think the design team at Gameloft has just blown my mind! I understand that developers are trying to figure out how to make more money on the app-store, but Gameloft has officially gone from "freemium" to "scheme-ium."I own many Gameloft titles, but this is the first time that I’ve seen the company pull a game off the app-store to replace it with an inferior (but possibly more profitable) version. I bought GT Racing: Motor Academy last year. Today I saw that this new version was available and thought, “Cool. Let’s see what they’ve changed.”After downloading and running the game, I realized quite quickly that the only thing that was added was that Gameloft made it so you can buy EVERY part of the game with in-app-purchases. Need a new license to drive? Would you pay a $1 for it? Want to play with friends? $2 please. How about a new car? How much can you afford?Gameloft has made 3 types of in-app-purchases “conveniently” available:Credits ($1 - $25)Cash ($1 - $25)XP Points ($1 - $25)Theoretically, this game that used to retail for between $1 and $5 can now be owned for somewhere between $0 and the cost of a brand new $60 copy of Gran Turismo or Forza for your home console. Technically, you could play most of the game without purchasing anything… if you wanted to play long enough. That is unless you want to play with friends, because Gameloft will charge you $2 for the privilege of doing that. I begrudgingly gave it a "2 Star" rating, because TECHNICALLY most of the game is still there.I will be deleting this off my iPod quickly, and if I want to play it, then I will load my original “non-scheme-ium” version of the game. But you know what I’ll actually end up doing? I’ll just delete it and load up a copy of Real Racing 2. Not only is it a better game than GT Racing in EVERY POSSIBLE WAY, but the developers aren’t trying to stick it to their customers. Want a great racing experience? Go get Real Racing 2 and leave this mess alone.(Oh, and don’t forget that Gameloft removed the old version from the app-store. If you already bought and like the old version, then for heaven’s sake keep a copy of it backed up on your computer!)

So this is why the copy of GT Racing I purchased a while ago which was $0.99 (might I add) isn't on the store anymore nor has been updated since forever... so you guys can put up a watered-down version which will end up costing more than the original. Smooth move Gameloft. You guys are the Activision of iDevices. And that's definitely NOT a good thing.Real Racing 2 ftw.
