Addictive fun!!  rating of Loot Master

Now that 1.2 is live this really is a must have for RPG fans who like getting levels, lots of fun gear and a definite challenge. It is possible but goodluck getting up to or beyond level 100. It definitely makes you want to come back and do better next time. The creator of of the game is also very responsive and takes thoughts on what the fans want added into the game. You can talk to him on his forums on the website linked for the game. Thank you for a great game

Needs save  rating of Loot Master
By: Nick vanlaanen - Dec 11, 2008

Alright I spent like 5 hours playing this game and I got to level 226 and wave 187, and then the game froze up on me, and without an auto save function my game was lost, and now I don't feel like playing any more until an update comes out. There needs to be an autosave, a better way to use spells, and maybe even change the game play to play off of Diablo more, just som suggestions, but auto save is a must. This game has a lot of potential and replay value, it just needs some tweaks. I was also wondering if anyone had gotten any other unique items other than the Guiding Light, the Neckelace of Forlorn, and that elemental sword?? Those are the only ones I have found so far. I like to play till I get the Necklace of forlorn then put it in my keep for the next round slot so I can have it at the beginging of the next game, I think that's why's helped me get so far, it has 20% treasure bonus, so I got a lot of good item early on which helped me easily carry through to the later rounds.

This game is great and an amazing quick paced Action-RPG fix on the go. I'm very happy with this game but I see so much more potential. How about a boss thrown into every few waves or so? Maybe more creative enemies? Spell animations would be a plus as well. I hope the designer considers some of our suggestions, because this great game could get so much better! 5/5 stars with hopefully more content to come!! *crosses fingers*

When I saw the name Digital Concepts on this app I couldn't help but to buy it straight away. Back in my Pocket PC days they always had the coolest games. Then the lead developer got a job with Sony (I think it was Sony), and the site kind of went dead. It was quite a surprise to see the name pop up 4 years later! I definatly wasn't disapointed, this is a very nice balance of simplicity and complexity, laid back play and frantic loot management.

Fun, addictive and very refreshing!  rating of Loot Master

This is one of the freshest games I've seen come out for any platform in a long time. I was pleasantly surprised by the thought put into the interface and how easy it was to jump in and start playing. I highly recommend this for all ages; it's not only entertaining, but also works your head and dexterity. I give this game 2 thumbs up and feel it is a great value for the money! This is not the only game I own from Digital Concepts. The creator, Doug Beck, has given us many very popular and innovative games for several years. I believe this is his first foray into the iphone app market, and I am very pleased with the result! I look forward to many more from him in the future! Kudos, Doug! Keep 'em coming!

The beginning of a Loot Masterpiece  rating of Loot Master
By: EYE TUNER - 09-Nov-2008

This game will be great, no doubt it lacks some variety in the attack methods and backdrops (at the moment), but it more than makes up for this with the huge variety of loot and baddies at your fingertips !!! It has many appealing aspects and beautifully detailed pixel drawn graphics. With a few updates this will be a pocket killer.
(I gave it 5 instead of 4 because it seems to have had a tough time in the review section for the qualities it has, my guess is anyone who is enjoying this game has been just too busy collecting loot to tell you all about it)

A Great Start!  rating of Loot Master
By: The Monkey - 22-Sep-2008

Loot Master is a solid attempt at bringing the whole "item management" found in games like Diablo 2 to the iPhone. Please note that I say "Solid Attempt", because I feel that it is not finished yet, at least, I base my 5 star rating on the fact that it will improve.
At the moment, it is simple. Here are some improvements I wish to have implemented:
1. Save game on quit, and have maybe 5 save slots.
2. More time between waves; I don't get a chance to fully organise myself and my items and before I know it, the next wave is coming.
3. Make the game fullscreen; I don't find myself changing armor or weapons half way because things are always too hectic.
4. A storyline maybe?
Thats it for a start. I might have some more suggestions in the future. Until then, I do enjoy playing the game!

Great game but...  rating of Loot Master
By: Sirrus Blue - Dec 28, 2008

I have so much fun playing this game. However, without a save function this game loses a lot of points in my opinion. If you are 5 hours into a game and someone calls you, you either take the call and lose your game or ignore it and find out later that your wife left work because she went into labor. This game needs some kind of save function. Im gonna go buy a different game and come back to this one once it's been updated.

Sushibox Game Reviews - Loot Master  rating of Loot Master
By: Sushibox - Sep 19, 2008

Unfortunately for some of us, the adventure/RPG offerings of the iPhone are slim so far. With a few gems hiding in the ever-filling App Pit (such as Vay - a classic JRPG) there needs to be a well built, native app, RPG or adventure game that has a little bit of reward to playing it. Being a fan of both the "defense" and hack-n-slash games (such as Tower Defense or Diablo respectively) I was immediately intrigued with Loot Master. It's interface is simple, colorful and somewhat rewarding for some reason. The pixel art has a sort of nostalgic quality to it. The pace of the game is fast, and excessively easy to understand. With little to no effort you could be tapping away at monsters of all kinds and collecting the wealth of rewards they often drop to increase your ability to tap-kill them to oblivion even faster. This game however is not without it's problems.
At first glance this seems to be a sort of defense/rpg hybrid. Enemies sprawl across the playing field and it's your goal to knock them out before they reach the other side. Every enemy that successfully crosses the battlefield diminishes your health until you're eventually knocked out. Having played this game quite a bit now, and hitting the higher levels I became aware of a vacancy that seemed to never be filled. While the upgrade system is far more developed then a simple tower defense game, you can customize your "adventurer" with gear of a vast variety, there seems to be no personalization to the rpg side of this game. While I enjoy accumulating a wealth of pixelated treasure, there was little variety in the actual game itself, in terms of motivation.
I wasn't able to personalize my adventurer with a graphic of any kind, or even a name. The problems continue to amass when you come to realize you have a VERY limited time between waves to organize your newfound booty in your inventory before the next wave of baddies sets out. One play through I accidentally hit the home button, returning me to the springboard, which brings up my least favorite part of this game, no ability whatsoever to save. While the instructions speak of the "afterlife bags" being able to hold onto equipment for the next game (these are the first few bags in your inventory) they're not clearly marked and they don't seem to actually function this way. As I hammered through the game level after level I also came to realize that there was seemingly no end to this adventure. If there's an endless game, there should definitely be a way to save your progress for further attempts later down the road. This game desperately needs some sort of save function... there's nothing more frustrating than getting a phone call at level 67 that brings you back to level 1.
There are also no milestones of any kind, no rare or boss style monsters, so the value of tap-slaying frogs and floating eyeballs becomes a bit dreary after a bit. What might add a bit more of an RPG element to this game would be an Aurora Feint style world map, or even perhaps a "town" map where we could (instead of throwing them away) sell off valuable equipment to shops to upgrade what we have, buy new items that may not drop by killing monsters, or further personalize our character (perhaps with special "training" that makes some of those scroll abilities permanent). Even allow for the player to tap-accept quests to slay specific creatures, perhaps go to specific areas to kill boss-style monsters.
The pace of the game is also a big problem for me. There is a defense-style "next wave" button, but after only a short time the game will auto initiate the next wave with or without your permission. It just seems that if you're supposed to take upgrades seriously, you may want to look them over and compare them to what you have, with more than twenty seconds to do so. What's the point of having so much loot drop if you don't have the time to look it over. And while I understand there are pace issues with defense games, there's also an entire playing field available instead of a small strip of pixelated forest. Perhaps the inventory could be an icon I could drag new items over, or a drop in menu that pulls into the screen partially when I hover items over an area to deposit new treasures in during the hectic levels. The splash screen of the game shows a full forest level, so why not allow the player to utilize an entire level instead of a one inch strip. If that's not a possibility, why not at least allow for horizontal gameplay so the battlefield could be a bit more wide. Even adding in multiple backdrops (even if it meant changing it every 20 levels) it would add some much needed overall variety.
I understand that this game more reflects a defense game than an RPG, but with just a little more effort you could turn this into a really fun rpg-style game that has amazing replay value. And that's what fast-paced quick style games are all about, isn't it? Without the replay value, one play-through and this becomes nothing more than a memory. This is really a great game, and has the potential to be something even better, if only there was a bit more thought put behind what it already offers. It's a well put together, worth buying, overall fun game... But this game seriously needs something more, a little extra "oomph" that could make this one of the better offerings in the App Store to date.
-----------------------------------------------------------
8.0 Graphics - Clean, crisp pixel graphics are nostalgic and fun.
5.0 Sound - Sufficient sfx, but no real musical score.
6.0 Gameplay - Great concept, easy to play, but lacking in variety or depth.
8.0 Lasting Appeal - A big hit here. Potential to have amazing replay value, but that potential is untapped.
-----------------------------------------------------------
7.0 Overall (out of 10) - Good game, but it needs some development to really be impressive.

Stop writing reviews saying it's not a RPG!!! The freakin description says "feels" not "is" a RPG, so yes they are correct to say it feels like a rpg because it does!Needs: Auto save Spells need to be easier to cast because at wAve 241 if you take your finger away from killing you die.Better loot drops because wave 200-220 I got cruddy green and blue items.Maybe improve energy, that's a must.
