Update: I have now completed the game. All cars and all stars. I really wish there was more to this game. They really need to update with more cars. They also need to enable players to be pursued by the the cops and not the other way around. Overall, good game. About a days worth of play. If your having trouble completing the game, try staying at each task until you get three stars. By doing this you will earn the points needed to get a better car. Now that task will be easier. Or you can go back to an easier task until you have earned the car you need the complete the task with three stars. I earned the Bugatti before I got to level 4.

Finally, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit has made it to the iPod/iPhone. It has improved greatly since Undercover, and includes new features like a handbrake and mini-map. You start your career as a cop, and it's really fun, especially with the usage of EMPs and spike strips. (The EMP works differently than the console version, I think, from what I've seen in videos.)The soundtrack is also a HUGE improvement compared to your usual Need For Speed. Undercover and Shift had horrible soundtracks. Also, you have three different cameras- a "chase" camera, a hood camera, and a bumper camera. Sadly, there isn't a way to look behind you. I would really appreciate that in pursuits. There are plenty of events, and the graphics are excellent. The "feel" of driving is different from Undercover, because the you don't feel like your car is driving on "rails". The handling is a mix between Real Racing, GT Racing, and Shift (in my opinion). Drifting is a bit of a challenge. There are plenty of different events organized into tiers, and you progress the career by earning bounty, like the console version. The sense of speed is good, because the faster I go, I feel a bit afraid about sliding and crashing. The "empty" sides of tracks have some annoying invisible walls, though. Note: There is not a true "free roam," but tracks have "shortcuts." Overall, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit for the iPod/iPhone is perhaps the best arcade(ish) racer to hit the App Store.Update: I wonder why there isn't a racer career?(I run this using a third-gen 32GB iPod very smoothly.)

I bought Undercover and wasn't too pleased with it. When I heard that Hot Pursuit was being revamped for the iPhone I had high hopes. Fortunately, the game is a lot of fun. I was hoping for a dual-career mode between racers and cops but it seems the producers want to just stick with cops. It's fun chasing down racers - but I really hope they adapt the game to allow for a racer career. Overall, the graphics are really good, especially on Retina resolution. The NPC racers are decently challenging, but I can't help but feel as if the game is missing that extra layer of depth which would take it from excellent to best racer in the app store. But perhaps I just miss the Playstation version of Hot Pursuit 2. Here's to hoping! And an added incentive of a 5 star rating if the adaptation can be made.

I've been waiting for this. Checking in about every 20 minutes to see if IRS out yet. Too much time on my hands. Who knows or cares who was first,(ha ha) this is however a great new addition to the NFS family. Running on my 32gig 3rd gen ios4 device it looks and plays beautifully! Been playing for 90 minutes strait and not one lag or issue. Just pure fun. It's highly recommended by this gamer.
