It's THE Pac-Man, not a knock off version so how could it be anything other than !!! The swipe controls handle perfectly, probably as close to the classic joystick as the iPhone will get, short of inventing a plug-in joystick accessory, and all the sounds and graphics are exactly as they should be. Future updates: maybe put all the custom options on one screen, rather than having to press play game then picking the difficulty and level and pressing play game again, then selecting control type and pressing play game one more time. And the little cut-scene music seems to go a bit too fast, but maybe that's just me.

Been waiting for the price to come down for ages, £6 was far too dear. Could still be cheaper but I loved this game since the 70s and I still love it now. The sounds, graphics it's all great. If they ever make changes to the game please do not change the graphics or the sounds, or it will become a different game. I remember years back when I had a Spectrum I played a game called Elite (it was a space trading game) it had basic outlined graphics. I then got a Commodore and got the same game and they had filled in the spaceship and station outlines with colours, which ruined my enjoyment off the game and unfortunately I had already given my Spectrum to a friend. Enough ranting from me this is a great game.

This game is really good, it’s just the same as the original version, so if you like that one, I’m sure you will like this one just as much. The graphics are good and the sound is just the same as the original. I find it easiest using the Swipe Mode controls. I bought this game when it was full price (£5.99) and thought it was worth that, but now it’s reduced to £3.49, I think it’s defiantly worth getting.

Its the real thing. OPTION TO PLAY AT HIGHER DIFFICULTY LEVELS MAKES THIS GAME GREAT

I bought this and it is identical to the arcade game.
The swipe control system works well. (Touch pad or tilt control options also work well.
I loved the arcade game in the 80's, but INITIALLY quickly tired of this, being frustrated by the game because I had to play through the tedious easy levels before reaching the challenging levels.
This game has redeemed itself because I discovered that, once you have completed a level, you can START a NEW game at the same level. e.g. if you complete level 9, then you can start future games at level 9.
If I have a few minutes to kill, then I now OFTEN play pacman just to see if I can make it to the next level.

The old ones are still the best...

PacMan as it should be. No modern 'enhancements', just the classic original with the simple-but-effective graphics and sound. The Swipe control may just be the ultimate way to control PacMan, it's very intuitive and you can change direction on a dime if needs be. I hope this is the first of many Namco classics to be released for the iPod Touch. I've easily had my £5.99 worth out of this one already.

There are comments about the price, why does everybody now expect something cheap or for nothing these days - this is why the world is in such a financial state. If you want quality you have to pay for it, if you don't want quality you buy from China or India. Anyway, it's probably less money than your kids spend on texts each day.

I think this, the iPhone version, of Pac-Man is brilliant. As you know, Pac-Man is a classic, '80s, Japanese arcade game. This version is very faithful to the original, with the same retro graphics and electronic sound effects from 28 years ago. But the coolest thing about it is, the 3 different control methods. You can control Pac-Man by tapping the virtual joystick, swiping any part of the screen in the direction you want Pac-Man to move, or tilting your iPhone. Personally, I like the swipe controls the best.

Act now and get this app for just $3! This is must, if you were a fan of this game at the arcade. This game's controls are quite well, compared to the original. I have not experience any slowdowns while playing this. If you played this game for hours in the 80s, then get this app. I also picked up the Ms. Pac Man app as well. It is also on sale for $3, and plays great too. Arcade fans don't miss out!

Very close to the original. Feels just like you're playin' at the machine, only without usin' all your money up. Controls are great, though they're a little hard to get used to at first. The sound is perfect as well. I also love how it saves your progress so you can go and try the stage you're stuck on as many times as you can without havin' to go to the beginnin' again. To sum it all up, it's simply worth the six bucks.

This is a really nice port of the classic original game mime. The sound is great, the graphics are crisp and look just like the original. The only thing missing is the joy stick. The swipe works pretty well, but my finger tends to drift off of the swipe area in the heat of battle and I miss the turn and get killed. I guess I'll have to work on that. Thankfully I don't have to put quarters in the machine to practice. The price drop from 9.99 to 5.99 makes this a no-brainer. Hey, go retro and go for it.

This app basically rocks!! Just for the pac man music I would of shelled out the 6 bones. The controls take a minute to get use to. But hey while your in line at unemployment...practice a bit...no biggie! But if u don't like the app cause u were to lazy to practice while your in line, at least we all have this lovely phone to try the game on!! Remeber your last phone.. Ah huh....do ya? Pause for a minute and pay homage! :D

All the complaints from folks about not enough mazes and other issues indicate a lack of knowledge about the original pacman game... There was just one maze, with increasing difficulty - and this is a spot-on exact replica of that game. You are buying the exact original console game for less than the cost of a meal at McDonalds. If you won't be satisfied with the exact and entire console PacMan game for six bucks, don't buy it. Personally I think it's a fantastic price!

This is AWESOME!! I can't believe all of the negative reviews this game has received. They must be from a bunch of spoiled young punks who are used to shooting people up, and watching blood fly on their games today. This is the only game I've ever bought, and probably ever will buy for my iPhone. I don't even like games... but I just had to get this for old time sake, and to use as an occasional time-killer. Only 20 levels? HA!!... That's 19 more than I'll probably ever need! The graphics, the animation, the music and the sound effects are EXACTLY like the original arcade game that many of us grew up with. They didn't miss a beat. I didn't even try the FREE version first because I believed the positive reviews of the more articulate and mature crowd here. Anyone who thinks the original game had more mazes is too young to have played the original, and must have played one of the knock-off versions which came out in later years. This is the TRUE CLASSIC version! And those who manage to reach 20 levels or more only to become bored and leave low reviews because it's not a cop-killer game, need to go outside and discover girls! By readiing most of the reviews here, it's very easy for one to distinquish the young and dumb from the older and more experienced of us who played the REAL Pac-Man. $6.00 is a VERY fair price for the quality work and "attention to detail" that went into this game. 'Nuff said!

It really bugs me to hear people complaining about Pac-Man costing $9.99, I mean really how much did Pac-Man cost to play in the arcade $0.50-$1.00 and how many times did you play Pac-Man. Well my guess is not paying attention you ended up paying 10 dollars OR MORE.You guys complain about this Pac-Man game costing $9.99 but unlike the arcade version the app has unlimited replay value, so your never going to spend no more than $10.08.Compared to the arcade Pac-Man which after every game you have to pay more money, SO THINK ABOUT THAT

Good grief, XBox/PS games are upwards of $50, PSP games are $20, DS games are--oh, wait, nobody plays those anyway--;$8 is not expensive for a well-polished game like this! Everybody is just spoiled on all the (GREAT!) free apps out there and seems to think they deserve everything free. Apps cost money to develop, and a lot of the free apps are advertisements for others that company has written.
If you want the game, buy it. Otherwise, quit crying about it and move on. That is their asking price, take it or leave it.

Great job on this classic game!

I was surprised to find just how easy this game is to play on a small screen. The game offers several options for movement through the maze. I think this was worth the $9.99. It may be old but, not everything can be free. Don't be sucked in by the negative reviews that this game got before Apple cut off comments from people who didn't even buy the game. The idea that everything should be "cheap" is ridiculous!

All I see on here is people complaining about the price. I play this game more than any other I have purchased or downloaded for free (save Asphalt 4). I played the free roms in the late 90's, and this version is a million times better and is mobile now. I use the swipe controls and find them flawless, just like back in the day using the joystick! Latest update has made a great game even better. Hopefully more games like this are coming. As someone suggested a package with classic arcade hits would be nice.

Great Classic that's worth every penny!

If you like Pac-Man, this game doesn't dissapoint. 3 ways to navigate (Directional Pad, Accelerometer, and Swipe). I've used them all and prefer Swipe. It allows you to swipe your finger in any direction (anywhere on the screen) to navigate. My biggest concern before buying was responsiveness of controls when you've got ghosts right on your tail. Once you play you'll see there is definitely no issue there. Complain all you want about price but that doesn't make the game any less amazing. Besides, how much would you pay for this app if you saw it on a store shelf?

This is the same great classic it always was... elevated to another level. Don't listen to the other reviews!!! You can use the accelerometer, swipe control or a conventional tap control. All the integrity of the original is there with the challenge and fun elevated to another level since you now have the best game ever made available on the best device ever made! At first, I hated the idea of the $9.99 price, but I broke down and bought it... 'cause everybody needs Pac-Man!!! And now I'm glad I did. I think Namco should charge less... maybe $5.99 to be just right, but it's well worth the money either way. Anyone who says otherwise just can't adapt to a new way of playing the best game ever in an exciting new way!!!
