Amazing! The new generation of a classic board game!
By: IslandApplegeek214 - Jul 15, 2008
I may just be unusually tolerable, but I thought this was an amazing addition to the iPhone application collection. First, how many apps can rearrange tiles by shaking the iPhone? Really? Second, I love to play Scrabble but can never find the time or opponents which makes the solo and player vs computer options key. Sure, the startup time is a bit annoying but it is at least an entertaining interface. I say, if you are deciding whether or not to spend $10 on a game, go ahead and share the fun! Enjoy!
Qi is not a word - App crashing fix
By: martinog - Jul 29, 2008
If your scrabble application crashes, delete it from your phone and iTunes and re-download and re-install it. You will not have to pay for it again. This worked for me.
Also qi is not an official scrabble word. The computer uses it but u can also use it. Qi is not in the official scrabble dictionary.
Note to Hasbro: Aftering installing the update, your game still considers QI a word. It is the most annoying when the computer "cheats" and uses it. We have almost every computer scrabble game ever made and this is the only one that allows this word. It should be a no brainer to check the words against the Official Scrabble Dictionary. Please fix this on your next release!
That said this is still the best game for the iPhone!
Scrabble is great. Fun to play.

I love this game. I hope the people that gave this less than 5 stars have solved their issues. Most people seem to ignore the fact that most games require you to restart the phone after the download. The ones that complain about price or features missing should be patient. Most developers will improve their creations over time. Nothing can be perfect the first time out. Good work EA. I know more features are forthcoming. Don't bow down to the people that want to play foul language words. We get enough of that illiterate garbage in everyday life.
I look forward to future improvements. I have had no problems thus far.
Finally Bought It.......No Regrets!

I expected the word variances just like all the other word games and wasn't surprised that a few common words weren't recognized in this game too. Putting tiles back onto the bottom holding area can take a few tries sometimes but still new to playing it so might get the hang of it. Just finished my first game and it was very fun to play vs the computer. Of course it beat me.....this time. Overall this game is definitely worth the purchased price of $5. I thought might have issues with bugs, etc from the reviews but found my first game problem free and worked great. No problems placing the tiles and zoom worked great too. Beautifully made game and very polished. I know that this will be a game that I will be playing alot with. Nice Work Electronic Games...thanks!

I absolutely love this game and I play it all the time. I've played to the end where the computer and I are both stuck. After three passes the game is over and the final points are tallied.I agree that we should be able to listen to our own music while playing the game. Certain words are not allowed, especially curses, but you do not lose a turn for trying words that may not be in the Scrabble dictionary. Well worth the price!

A great game...very easy to play and very addictive...here are the pros and cons:PROS:1. Fun2. Addicting. It's definetly replayable for true scrabble fans.3. Not to sound noob but best word is a great feature.4. The shake makes it a true iPhone game!CONS1. It crashed occasionally and EA doesn't have the customer service of say Pangea arts!!( cro mag is the bst!!)2. The board is very unpolished...basic...and lacks flash...also for noobs they don't know the colors...i'm not a noob!! But saying.3. The computer is horrible...not to brag or anything but I own the computer on hard...can you say Uber-elite difficulty?A great game and dwfinanetly worth buying!!

What I love most about this game are the various play options, especially facebook play. There are just so many people to play against in addition to my friends on facebook. I also play against the computer for a quick game. My only gripe is that the Hard level is just too hard but that's not such a big issue. I suppose I should look at it like a challenge.I have read the other reviews for this update and was worried about the ads. Maybe I'm missing something but i've not had any ads pushed on me. I saw there is an option to see more EA games on the main menu and when I complete a game there is an option to see more games, but you have to actually select the option to go there. I don't see what the big deal is.Overall a great value and a well put together game!
Great Fun! Questionable Words?
By: Remaxjim - Feb 12, 2009
What a great game for iphone/itouch. An excellent way to keep your mind sharp. I've used it 2 days and really no complaints. I don't have a problem with the game loading. Seems like a very minor complaint. Who's in that big of a rush they can't wait 20 seconds? Never crashed yet on my ipod touch. Not sure what dictionary they use however. The computer has so far used "quate" and "ut" (an abbreviation) which aren't words in the latest Oxford American College dictionary. Seems a bit cheating...except now I can use them! Also it won't recognize "nano" and "zen" which are words in Oxford. I did beat the computer twice so far WITHOUT using the Best Word feature. I highly recommend it.
Working fine for me
By: Risingphoenix360 - Sep 27, 2009
I mostly play against the computer or with pass n play and there have been no issues. I love being able to pick my songs from within the app. A lot of ppl are complaining about missing features. Nothing's gone missing in this update; the layout's been changed that's all.The ads that are being complained about are not like the ones you find in free apps, it's just a button giving you the link to other EA games in the app store.
By: martusfine - Sep 27, 2009
The new update is good. I find loading time is a tad longer for "Game queues" due to the FB images being displayed now. The "game availability" is so much easier now. Some complain of the ads. I guess because I play on-line shooters, which are ad-intensive these days, junk like that does not bother me. In addition, I'm assuming this is to keep online gaming free. The ads are not obtrusive. I was concerned how Scrabble would translate on the iPhone/iTouch. I've played several electronic versions and I feel this is the best to date! I play via Facebook with no issues. 5stars for production values and ease of use. Great app!
Almost great! Really Close!

I love this app. I have so much fun playing Scrabble with my facebook friends. In this most recent version, they fixed all the issues related to facebook interaction. My only problem is that it says it supports push notifications now, but it does not. I always have to check to see if it is my turn by starting up the app and going in to check. I wish they would fix the push notifications.
Other than that, everything works the way it's supposed to. I don't know what everyone is saying about ads being in the game. I have yet to see one.
Loads in less than 10 seconds
By: DollyManalo - Feb 23, 2009
I just bought this game because I really waited for its price to drop. And now that it did, I'm very happy with it!!:) It loads very fast...unlike what the other guys are saying..and so far, I haven't experienced any technical problems. So if you're a scrabble fan like me, buy this app for your iphone too and you'll have lots of fun!!:) It works perfectly with version 2.2 of iphone software :)
Just like the board game...
By: CHRIST[•]Bm - Aug 27, 2008
I really like the flash intro to this game. It makes full use of my iPhone features and I like that because if you're going to buy a game, you would want the look and feel that it is well put together. Btw, I haven't experienced any of what the other reviewers are explaining or complaining about. This game works just as it should work. Clean and may just replace my actual Scrabble board game. GREAT GAME!
Crash problem fixed in update!
By: rojothebear - Sep 25, 2009
The update works MUCH better now, so I'm changing my previous 1-star rating to 4-stars!! Why not five? There's still a few things I don't love about this game. It needs more levels of difficulty. Normal's too easy, while Hard is impossible. Also, I HATE the music!! I know I can turn it off, but still...it's just annoying to know it's there! And there's a lot of UI changes I would personally make. But it's still a great game, and it's great to be able to play it on my iPhone!
A MUST HAVE!! GREAT!

I absolutely love this game. I was soooo excited when I found out that itouch offered it. I quickly bought it and I am so so happy I did. The quality is great and it entertains me from morning to night. I told my bf to get it and as soon as he did we easily connected, playing all night. The only thing is-- I had to buy a seperate dictionary. A little upsetting that this app doesn't come with one, but not a big deal. Absolutely worth the money!! If you love words like I do, it is a MuST have!!
Excellent game, tons of fun, and very well made
By: JackCTU - Nov 4, 2008
We've been playing Scrabble on the iPhone for several months now and absolutely love it. The graphics, animations, and controls are very well done. The gameplay is smooth and I haven't encountered any bugs after playing over 100 games. This is easily my favorite iPhone game.
My only requests: (1) provide a way to skip the intro video, or at least turn off the audio on it, and (2) provide multiplayer over WAN.
By: jinx48 - Jun 17, 2009
As a fan of computer Scrabble for many years, when I got my Ipod touch I bought Scrabble right away. Well I was very disappointed because I couldn't play with the computer, which I really was looking forward to, for killing time in doctor's offices and appointments etc. but it worked fine with my Facebook games. I was about to send a letter of complaint to the Scrabble makers when I got an update and viola! I could do it. I love the game, always have and the ipod touch version suits me to a T. Try it, you will love it. Just make sure to go into all the options etc. to set it for the way you want to play.
Great multiplayer game!

UPDATE:I still love this game since the update.. I totally disagree with everyone who complains about the ads. They're not popping up all the time like people say. I noticed at the end of a game when it shows the final score there is an option to see more games by EA, but never any popups! They also have this option on the main menu, but it was always there, they just moved it to the top. But still no popups. And people that complain about losing pass n play and other options are just idiots. The options are all still there, you just have to open your eyes and look. As for the wifi complaints, I haven't played a whole game over wifi in the new version, but after all the complaints about broken wifi since the update, I tested it out by creating a couple games just to see if it was really broken. I found that sometimes you would have to retry once or twice to get it to connect to the other player, but it's definitely NOT broken. The one thing that I can't figure out is the notification feature. In the update they say they have a new feature where you'll get notified when it's your turn in facebook. I thought it would be via push notification, but nothing ever happens. Scrabble doesn't show up under notification settings like other apps do, so I'm not sure how it should work. All in all I'm pretty pleased with the new update. I wouldn't want to go back to the old version. BTW, for those that DO wish to go back to the old version I'm pretty sure that iTunes keeps the old versions of apps on your computer. I've done this with a different app once, you just have to find the .ipa files and delete the newer one and you should be able to get the old version to re-install. I don't remember all the steps involved, just that it can be done. Hope that helps.... ORIGINAL REVIEW:This game really is cool, esp over WiFi, if you leave the game (ie WiFi drops, you get a call, battery dies, etc..) the game is automatically saved! All you have to do is restart the game with the same person. The first time I played, my WiFi dropped and the game stopped, but I was pleasantly surprised that the game in progress was not lost!!! WiFi only allows 2 players though. The Teacher feature seems to be accessible only when playing via Facebook... This is fine though. I actually joined facebook because of this game. I like playing on facebook better because you can have up to 4 players, and not everyone needs to be in the game at once. With wifi the opponent needs to be in the game for you to make your move.

ATTENTION: Pass 'n Play is there...they have just decided to move it to a stupid place. At the game's opening menu, click options and then quick play setup and you can change the game type there. Argghh... Why didnt EA just put that in the update notes???Previous Review:Used to be Addicting! Update: one word is now disappointing! BRING BACK PASS 'N PLAY!!! Half the fun was playing with other people!
You people arent following directions!!!!
By: e.i.n.i.t. - Jan 23, 2009
THIS GAME HAS NEVER CRASHED ON ME BECAUSE I INSTALLED IT CORRECTLY!!! Read the directions people. Make sure you have the latest version of the firmware installed before you download it. After download, RESTART your phone! (like the directions say). You will not have a problem. If you are having this problem, uninstall and reinstall and reboot your phone.
This game is pretty much flawless. The only complaints I can come up with are these: when you misspell a word, you shouldnt have to use the recall button to pull every tile back, one at a time would be better. And number two, how about a selection of songs for gameplay? That song is horrible. Or at least let us listen to our own music.
