Position your Heroes - Aragorn, Gandalf, Legolas and more - and deploy ally units such as Elven Archers or Hobbits to defend strongholds from relentless waves of attacking enemy forces. Upgrade your Heroes to specialize them in one of four categories: speed, attack, range and skill.
In Story Mode, play through 18 levels set in 7 unique 3D environments with story elements based on all three films in the trilogy. Or opt for Challenge Mode, where you'll face endless waves of attackers until you’ve run out of Battle Hit Points.

I read the reviews and was initially put off. But I suspect some of the negative reviews were because people did not realize this is a TD game. Now that I realize what it is, I am happy I bought it! There are some quirks in the graphics (why, for example, the heroes often have their backs to the oncoming horde???), but for the most part it is fun and fluid. I agree that at $10 it was over-priced. Thankfully I waited *just* long enough to cash in on the $5 price cut! At this price, I think the fun factor is definitely worth it!

Overall I would say I'm impressed with the game. The strategy and balance seem right on. The graphics are decent. The sound is ok. I guess that sums the whole thing up, there isn't anything wrong with it... but there is nothing outstanding either.It is overpriced though and I'm sure sales of the game will suffer. If I was smart I would have waited for a price drop but I dig Lotr and I love tower defense so I dove in head first at $10. I don't regret it, the game seems to have a good amoun of levels and characters (which are your towers) and it's fun. I will get 10-20 hours worth of fun out of the game, which is more than I do most $60 console games.... but, yeah, it's just lacking that piece of magic.I really hope the developers keep this updated with new features... but I kinda suspect this is a hit and run cash grab. I guess the good news is that glu hit us with a pretty decent game.

While it may not be the most exciting game requiring the highest skills and hand/eye coordination, it is great fun to read and watch. You still have to make important strategic decisions and set up you scenes and choice of heroes to fight the battles. You get to improve the skills and abilities of your heroes. The most exciting part is that the game follows the movies fights and battles and a great amount of that wonderful dialogue is written with the pictures of the stars from the movies. I think it's a great and fun addition to my Tolkein/LOTR collection and I'm sure most fans will. Danish Viking

Though a bit pricey, it is a very detailed, fun game. I have been playing for 6 hours and still have much to do. I really hope they make a Hobbit version too.

Overall a good and fun strategy game for the iPad. Only complaint I have is the cheesy text style story...could do with it.

Good tower defense with lord of the rings theme.....HD graphics are a lie. They are the same as the iPhone version just scaled up to the iPad size, so all the textures are supper blurry and it runs pretty choppy.But if you like tower defense and lord of the rings it's a great game for the price.

They did a really good job in every way with this app and it is a fresh take on the tired tower defense genre. You have lots of depth here for your money so the price is fair.In the end though, I did not find it nearly as much fun as some of the other TD games I have played, so for me I could not rate it above three stars, but I will say that is more a reflection of personal taste than the overall quality of the app

Well i ve been playing this game for a couple of days and now i am finally done.So much more was possible with a title like this but unfortunately it doesn't deliver.The graphics are outdated and the gameplay to easy to figure out.In the challenge mode i wish i had a 10x instead of 2x to speed up the gameit got boring very soon. I believe it should stay on sale indefinitely and with a lower price or even betterchange the name and make it free.
