Great App, Dull Ending By: AprilZ - Mar 25, 2009 Version: 1.1.2 This is a completely addictive game. Fun to play, would be GREAT on a long car or plane trip. Lots of fun commentary, the talk bubbles between the characters are hillarious. It has really nice graphics for a phone game. All in all its a really cute game. I was a little dissapointed by the ending though, when I chose the one option that said, "go to Table Rock instead for something more interesting", well... there wasn't anything interesting! Was waiting on something, anything. But it was just, "The End". I hate that I lost a party member, but I guess thats what I get for going too fast! I liked that the hunting, fishing, picking berries, and telegraph games got harder as they went along or it would have just been really boring. This app is a definite buy, it ranks up there with the best games available for the iPhone.
Brings back memories. By: Rysmlz - Oct 3, 2009 Version: 1.4.3 Great game . Hours and hours of fun. It does bring back memories from elementary school days during computer lab. It's more enhanced than the version I know, the mini games other than the hunting and there's a lot of eagles swooping in to take your child. And the conversations between the family is so hilarious . It's worth your money. Now only if they can put " where in the world is Carmen San Diego ?"
best app ever By: california. - Mar 25, 2009 Version: 1.1.2 seriously, i have never been so immersed in an itunes app before. i literally sat for two hours straight playing this game. i didnt think that i was going to finish it in one night, let alone one week, but somehow i did it. the graphics are crazy for an app--it was really like a legit video game that someone would play on a computer or on a console. and i dont know what people are talking about for the crashes, because i played it for two hours straight and i didnt even get the slightest of hiccups from it. no sign of crashing, thank goodness. that was the one reason why i was so conscious about buying a six dollar app--because i was scared that it was going to constantly crash, but nope. nothing. and, i have to say, this was one of the best app purchases i've made. easily worth the six bucks. easily.
One of the best games ever By: JOS|-| - Sep 28, 2009 Version: 1.4.3 Omg idk where to start this app is so awesome it's like my favorite app on my iPod and it's definetlt worth the money and I've played it like 5 times already and plan to more and me and my sister fight over it cause it's so fun and it gets annoying that the eagles take the kids I think they shouldn't do it EVERY time but it is still good but there should be like 2 waggons at once so it's a group of them but it is still awesome!
I love everything about this game By: asps - Mar 24, 2009 Version: 1.1.2 I love the character that helps you along the way as you figure out how to play, I love the look of all the characters, really brings a modern day style into the game, and I love the small facts on each loading page about what people went through back then. I feel like this game is still a lot of fun and yet educational at the same time. There are different routes you can take along the way, experiencing different outcomes so there is a lot of replay value. I’ve noticed some people experiencing crashes but I’ve played through a full game and haven’t had it happen at all to me yet. I would suggest that those people restart their iPhone after the download before playing; that seems to stop any chance of a random crash. I do it after every download or installation just to be safe and it seems to work.
Oregon at last! By: Luckylor - Apr 14, 2009 Version: 1.1.2 I played this game in grade school and loved every minute of it. On the last day of school, right before I got to Oregon, my teacher announced that we would be leaving the computer lab early. Ever since then I have looked for Oregon trail, but to no avail. Finally I found this app and I absolutely love it! Played it for a day straight until I beat it, but I can't wait to go back and make a new journey along the Oregon trail!
Super iphone game By: Profguy - Sep 23, 2009 Version: 1.4.3 This is the best iPhone I have played yet. Many reviwers just want the PC game on a iPhone. This game is built with the iPhone interface in mind. Some reviewers complain the game is too easy. Please try the new "Extra Hard" mode to have your perceptions reset in a harsh way :) My only comments are that more comments that are displayed while loading be added as the limited number of comments in the game leads to their becoming very repetitive. This greatly impacts the edutainment value of the game. The game was great already, and the latest updates have added more value to the game. This game is a great bargin at $4.99!
Good, hope it gets better By: Trevor82 - Mar 24, 2009 Version: 1.1.8 Love the graphics, the story line is fun. I don't remember too much of the original, but it seems this is much easier. I realize that there is a wide audience this game is appealing to, but it would be nice to have more control over things such as hunting when you want and itemized supplies. I hope more individual games also make it into future updates. The app has locked up on me several times, but I kind of expect that from the first version. Also, waiting for each scene or game to load is a pain too. Hopefully that gets improved.

How cool is this, I remember the Apple II like it was yesterday By: 01110010 01111001 01000001 01001110 - Mar 14, 2009 Version: 1.1.2 This game is wonderful, I was so excited when I heard it was coming to iPhone. Everyone remembers going down to the computer lab in elementary school, firing up the Apple II then throwing in the big stupid floppy disks and you were off on your Oregon trail adventure. (I guess you wouldn't remember this unless you're in your early twenty something age bracket) I have to say they did a fine job with trying to keep to the original game play style while giving it a modern look and feel which I like her much. Although how cool would it be to have a completely original look and play version ported to the iPhone, I think that would be very cool. Now all we need is Sticky Bear Typing ported to the iPhone and two of the programs I used the most throughout elementary school will be with me once again.

Great app By: Saint_of_Circumstance - Sep 16, 2009 Version: 1.2.7 What a great app. Nostalgic and quaint, but it also stands alone on its own two feet. Graphics are excellent, and the controls are intuitive. I've not had any of the crash issues that other reviewers have mentioned -- the program works just fine. I only suggest that, in a future update, you be allowed to hunt at any point along the trail (as opposed to at predetermined locations, as it currently stands), in keeping with the original game. Maybe a few more, and more in-depth, side quests would be a nice addition, as well. Other than those small issues, I'm very fond of this app -- loads of fun.
The Oregon Trail is a Masterpiece By: 9Duke9999 - Mar 13, 2009 Version: 1.1.2 This game, which takes at least 2.5 hours to beat, is an instant classic. There are so many different paths and quests to take, meaning the game can be played over and over. The minigames are plentiful and diverse, and they also are what make this game even better than the original. Despite the lack of diseases and death, the game still maintians its history with many unexpected twists and turns. This is one of the first real games to hit the App Store, and I hope Gameloft releases more games like this in the future. It is worth every penny of the $5.99.
Memories... In the corner of my mind By: sammynelisa - Apr 9, 2009 Version: 1.1.2 Oregon trail is timeless. List of things I like:
- cool facts
- long game play
- great, impressive, vibrant graphics
- awesome mini-games
- endless connections to the original game
Concerns:
- game doesn't stop when phone call comes in, the call just drops
- no ability to save when u have to stop playing and get back to the 'real life' trail.
Suggestions:
- giving the player the option to hunt whenever they want (or like up to three times or something)
- can there be an option of the girl being a main character too?? (we are not really on the trail anymore peoples.. And if u want to stick to accuracy, if the husband died the family still continued moving on right?)
- option for change of clothes
- option to type dialogue with characters
Thanks!!!!! :)
Takes me back to my Apple IIe days but with some great updates/upgrades By: MattFromSeattle - Jul 14, 2009 Version: 1.2.7 I first played The Oregon Trail back on the Apple IIe and absolutely loved it. So it was a welcome sight to see that Gameloft had ported this over to the iPhone. I expected to see the classic game in all its glory, but was pleasantly surprised to find a gorgeous redesign. While I'd love to see a bit more happen in the game as you travel along, and maybe offer a bit more control over when you go hunting or trade, over all, this is a 5 star game that should only get better as updates are released.
Really Really Nice game By: SunOrigin - 22-Apr-2009 Version: 1.1.2 I never played the pc version of oregon trail, but this game is tooo cooollll... !!!!!!!!! I really enjoy while playing this game.. but I think it has some memory problem because it crashes a lot... I mean for first 2 hours it was going good.. but now on every time I try to play it, it crashes too often... I hope gameloft will fix this problem soon Overall .. a real 5 star GAME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great game. By: Frontmaster - 08-Apr-2009 Version: 1.1.2 I had never heard of this game before. But I thought I would give it a go regardless. I think it's really good. I've not come across the sound bug others have mentioned yet.
I do agree there are a lot of loading screens. But to be honest, waiting 10 seconds for some screens isn't really an issue. Same as when I'm sitting behind a slow driver. At the end of the day...what's the hurry??
The mini missions start off quite easy. But get really difficult. But this gives the game a challenge. It's a shame the game doesn't seem to save mid missions. It seems you get to 'check points' and when the game is forced to close. Maybe a phone call. Or just pressing the home button. You end up going back to those points. To be fair the check points are regular. But it would be nice to carry on exactly where you were.
Either way. This is a fantastic game. :). .
Faithful Adaptation By: Ledhead04 - Jul 6, 2009 Version: 1.2.7 I think anyone between the ages of 22-28 can remember playing The Oregon Trail in school, and absolutely loving it, right up to the point where out computer would crash and we had to start anew. This app is in every way better than the original while still maintaining that level of nostalgia that will make you appreciate it even more having played the previous versions. Updated graphics, mini-games, and choices that effect your outcome, as well as your party members. This is a perfect rendition of The Oregon Trail that fans of the original as well as new comers to the game will enjoy alike. Great game already minus the crash 8) makes this a must have.
Brilliant game By: iPhone_Lover83 - 21-Mar-2009 Version: 1.1.2 I've never played the original game from all those years ago but this game is excellent, it tells you about real facts when it has a loading screen, dont worry they are very quick but informative. The mini games are quite incentive and clever. I can see myself playing this for quite sometime been playing for over an hour and still can't see the end. A gem of a game, very recommend to those who like history and/or adventure.
