Reviews:
EA has done it again! By: Chadwick, SD, Ca. - Apr 29, 2009 Version: 1.0 This game is difficult to put down. I love all the options it offers for gameplay. The pursuit mode is also way cool. No regrets, worth every dollar. I can't help but notice the poor reviews due to crashing. The only way to prevent this is to reboot the iPhone after downloading, or even set it to airplane mode or both. Problem solved. This app for me has not crashed once, with hours of gameplay, and I can still recieve e-mails, text, and phone calls with no hic-ups. I say this from over 160 app downloading experience(yeah, I know, Sad but true). That said, this game won't dissapoint. Truly, this game rocks!
I'm quite impressed! By: mwg1976nyc - Apr 29, 2009 Version: 1.0 They did right by this classic! It has the full functionality of the original board game (except that the questions are multiple choice, of course), with smooth, crisp animation. The most important factor -- question difficulty -- is well calibrated, in that the questions are challenging without being obscure. I was worried that the questions would either be too easy or not diverse, but neither concern was warranted. Pursuit mode is a lot of fun too.
Awsome Game. Please add expansion packs for OS 3.0 By: Star Hedgehog - Apr 25, 2009 Version: 1.0 I have checked everyday for this game and I bought the day it came out. It is really fun, and is a great part of my trivia apps screen on the iphone. With the new iPhone 3.0 OS coming this summer, it was reported that users could pay for expansion packs for apps and download them straight from the app without having to reinstall the app. This would be perfect for Trivial Pursuit and other EA, Hasbro game apps. My most favorate Trivial Pursuit board edition is the Totally 80s. Thank you very much.
Awesome! By: Coloursound - Apr 24, 2009 Version: 1.0 I have been waiting for this one for quite a while! I am very happy with it. I have loved EA Games for the ipod touch so far (with the exception of Spore, it's OK but it's always been a bit boring for me). I especially love the board games they have done. With that said, I would love it if EA did EVERY single boardgame. They really do a killer job. One thing Trivial Pursuit has in common with Scrabble, Tetris, and Monopoly is the awesome music. I love Contemporary Jazz and Electronic and it contains elements of both. I also love all of the photos they use in the game, it really gives it such a unique feel. There are MANY trivia-style games in itunes at the moment, including game shows, board games, misc. trivia - This is what pulls Trivial Pursuit apart is a visual ability with all of the great photos! Next we come to the graphics - 3d, great colors, modeling, etc. Sound effects are done well also. It's a little early and I have only played for about 45 minutes, but so far I would recommend this game to anybody interested in this genre (or anybody who loves to collect ipod board games!) Great job EA, can't wait to see what's next!
2 Great Games in 1 By: englishteacher1120 - Apr 24, 2009 Version: 1.0 This finally got me to put down UniWar...Pursuit mode is so much fun that I haven't even played Classic yet. The multiple choice aspect may seem like a dumbing down of the board game, but the difficulty level of the questions compensates for this; unlike Jeopardy where the multiple choice answers are so easy that it makes one of my favorite games almost unplayable. The only thing I could ask for is more questions in an update somewhere down the line. I know the 3,500 questions the game comes with is a lot, but I also know I'll be playing this game long enough to go through them all!
Excellent Game For Family Time By: Str793 - 4-May-2009 Version: 1.0 This game is very well done! I'm not a huge Trivial Pursuit fan, but its a fantastic family game for when you're in a restaurant, or when you're out driving (assuming of course that the driver is not reading the questions). This is different than other games where the player ends up isolated in their own world. I really like the option to win pies on every square, or to win with fewer than six pies, because this makes it easy to have a "quick" game in 5 or 10 minutes. The only thing I would like to see is 4 multiple choice answers per question (not three). 3 seems just a little too easy. Hopefully this is an easy thing to add in the future. (This might also be a great opportunity to use the upcoming iPhone software's ability to sell new card sets in the game - hopefully for just a buck or two - but I could see EA adding some of the themed sets that Trivial Pursuit itself added over the years).
Still the Best Trivia Game Out Threre By: Unclescott58 - Aug 24, 2009 Version: 1.0 I love the iPod version. Mine has worked great now for several weeks, with no problems. No problems? Only the same problems I've had with Trivial Pursuit over the last 25 or so years. And that is not knowing all the answers. But that is what makes it fun. There are new questions only the kids will know (sorry to say I'm not one of those anymore). And questions about things that either came before my time or I have forgoten. The only problem with the game is they didn't write all questions based on what I know! By the way, I've this game a lot in last few weeks. I do not recall more than one or two repeat questions. I'm very impressed.
One Of My Favorites By: Goldengrl80 - Aug 2, 2009 Version: 1.0 Trivial Pursuit has been one of my favorite games for years and so when I saw that there was an app available for my iPhone, I jumped at the opportunity to download it after reading the favorable reviews. I have not been disappointed! I think they thought of just about everything when designing this game.
I love the fact that you can play it just like the classic board game or you can set a time limit with a limited number of wedges for abbreviated game play. There is the Pass and Play feature which is fun in a small group setting or the Wi-Fi feature to allow you to go online and play against other players.
I have not run into interrupted game play as mentioned in some of the other reviews so I cannot comment on the loss of game progress, however the one feature that does need to be changed is the ability to enlarge the pictures that are used in the questions. They are too small to make out details and to diffferentiate between the others. Players need to be able to enlarge them so that they can really see what they are. The way the game is currently, most times it is a guess.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this game and play it a lot. It is well made and I feel it is well worth the money - you get what you pay for.
Idea. By: Jimmoon - Jul 20, 2009 Version: 1.0 You have made so many awesome games. A great game to add would be
Life
Jusr swirl your finger around in a circle on the spinner to spin. It could be set up just like original life. Go against up to 3 different CPUs or challenge up to 3 different friends. Post your high score to state high scores, country high scores or global high scores. Choose a male or female, and when the spinner lands on a number, your person automatically moves that much. No need to have a banker in this game.
I hope you can find out the rest, thanks
Terrific version of a terrific game! By: Geoffar - Jul 14, 2009 Version: 1.0 Most people know how to play TP, or have heard about it. Basically, you and your friends roll dice to move around the board, having to answer trivia questions based on the space you land on, and ultimately needing to collect 6 'pie' pieces, 1 for each category, and then make your way to the centre to answer a final, random question to win the game. However, I don't play this game with anyone but my partner, and that's to keep him awake during our frequent business or pleasure travels around the country. (I can't drive due to a head injury from an accident I was in a number of years ago, and he won't fly, A) so both our dog and I can accompany him, B) he's a pro photographer [and I'm an amateur], so we can stop anywhere to take pictures, and C) he refuses to be treated like a criminal at the airports due to 9/11.) So, my job, while on the road, is to keep him awake. In the past, it sometimes was rather difficult to come up with things to talk about, but this great little app solves that problem, for when I need some subject to talk about. I 'play' the game by moving his piece around the board, plotting the strategy to get the pie pieces, and he answers (or tries to) all the questions. This app has been an absolute god-send to our travels. Thank you Hasbro and thank you Apple/iTunes Store!

Love it! By: Amanda6202 - May 7, 2009 Version: 1.0 Sooooo excited for this game. I actually wanted an iPod after playing this game on someone's classic iPod...I was in the dark about iPods (didn't know you could play games on them, haha who knew?) But then I was sad that they didnt have an application for the iPod Touch...which is what I ended up buying. But now they do, so its all good! LOVE this game. Other than it goes crazy on my battery, but then again what apps don't? Because I play this so much longer than other apps, so maybe it's more noticable. But no complaints about the game overall. A+
Kind of amazing foreign language content. By: BerlinerNY - May 3, 2009 Version: 1.0 I'm still figuring out the options, but one thing the page doesn't say is that it offers multiple languages (US *and* UK English, French, Spanish, German, and Italian). I've been playing in German and figured it would just be the instructions and the questions translated, but many of the questions seem to be specific to German culture, which really surprised me. If you can speak multiple languages (and know the cultures well!—I should try the UK English one next to see if it's also UK-specific in content and therefore difficult for me), you get more than you bargained for with this game.
Great game needs to be Featured By: Chronmaster - May 3, 2009 Version: 1.0 Thank you for this great Trivial Pursuit. Hopefully this will be followed by other editions of Trivial Pursuit. Once this game is Featured on the App Store, it is gonna Blow Up!!! Great One player, great Pass & Play. I can't wait til there is more players, because Wifi is gonna be Awesome. Thx again
--Chronmaster
*update 5/3/09= i wish there was a way to set up a Wifi multiplayer game and not have to wait an eternity. I cant wait til more players. Still gr8 game. I just dont wanna see all the ?'s before a lot of multiplayer
Great game - can play by yourself or with your pals - well done and worth the $$ By: TexasTunesDAL - Apr 30, 2009 Version: 1.0 If you like trivial pursuit and you've wanted to play it on your iphone then this is the app for you! There are different playing options so you can play a game on the plane ride home alone or if you want share with the person in the next seat. Game loads up pretty quick and i haven't had any crash problems. Questions are very current (there was one about Grey Anatomy 2008 episodes) and offer a great range from easy to difficult. Over all it is very well done.
Most addictive app! By: Xoro71 - Sep 15, 2009 Version: 1.0 Love this app. And so do my coworkers. But one problem we haven't been able to solv is how to pick the order of play. The first person to go always has an advantage. So in Pursuit mode a player could reach the end before the others have even had a go! There should be an easy way to rotate or edit player order or roll for the first go etc. That would make it a 5-star for me. I'm also bummed because I lost $10 on a friendly competitive wager before even having a go!
You can save a game - but.... By: misterchimps - Sep 7, 2009 Version: 1.0 A single player game can be saved, but not a mulitplayer games. Adding this feature would make it 5 stars for me. It's fun and the implementation for the iPhone is very good, but the questions don't match the categories very well at times - "What kingdom did Shrek visit?" belongs in Entertainment or Arts and Literature, NOT Geography! There is a good range of trivia for most age groups and interests, some very easy and some very obscure.
Best trivia game for iPhone By: gumonmysoul - Oct 11, 2009 Version: 1.0 I've downloaded a few trivia games including Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (great game, but a lot of repeat questions) and Trivia Wars (less repetitive but frustratingly slow) and I have I to say that Trivial Pursuit is the best one so far. I've played a lot since I got it and I haven't run into too many repeat questions, it's very fast and fun to play. The only flaws are that I guess EA has never issued an update, so I'm expeciting to run out of new questions soon. Also, there's this very weird glitch where random questions pop up about really obscure Chinese films, most of the time in the sports genre. It's really annoying and confusing. Another reviewer said there is no way to save a game, but if you just select to go back to the main menu, it will save the game for you. I guess there is no auto save, but I haven't needed that too much. All in all, a great trivia game.
Not that hard people By: predato - May 20, 2009 Version: 1.0 This app is great. I agree with the criticism of not being able to choose difficulty levels. It is streaky with super simple questions and then really obscure ones, but honestly so is the real game. As for Chinese or Japanese questions? The game asks you to pick a location, so don't pick china. And if you think the timer goes too fast adjust it in options. Before posting ignorant reviews spend some time with the app. It's really quite well done and worth the money for the entertainment value.
What i would like to see in the next version By: Jandsbrulz - May 4, 2009 Version: 1.0 I would like to see 4 choices instead of three. Some times the question doesn't best match the catagory that is selected. Its annyoing when i have to try to tell the difference between the blue and the light blue. more questions. I played a couple of rounds and had a few repeat questions. the abilty to skip more animations. musical background choices more avitar choices/make your own avitar seeing your statistics when you are the loser.
