Deep deep career mode By: DatGamer - Nov 10, 2009 Version: 1.0 Awesome career mode. I've played many hours already and have gotten pretty far into the later casinos. Still working on getting to the rio but it's been fun so far. The AI plays realistically, probably the best poker AI ive experienced. Super polished and great presentation. The only minor qualm I have is with multiplayer. Sometimes it's hard to get into a game and when I do, gameplay can get pretty slow. It's okay but could be improved.
Great work! By: Area51official - Nov 9, 2009 Version: 1.0 Overall, this game delivers on all the aspects that make a great poker game. The graphics, sound, gameplay, variations in game types are all there. And you can play online to compete with others to see who's the best. I'm usually not a big fan of playing against AI in poker games, but even that works well here in career mode, where some of the AI will occasionally show "tells" to help you decide if you should fold early to get out of a hand, or go for a bluff to get them to do so. You also have a hand strength meter online and offline that can help new players with strategy and even a veteran like myself can benefit from. A few different play modes in career mode mixes things up, but if I had an issue, It would be that I'd like to see mutiple play modes carried over to online mode also. Also, no money is actually won or lost in online play, just tokens awarded based on how well you finish the online sit and gos. Maybe in a future update beef up multiplayer with cash games, ability to play the formats that are in career mode, and add a money based leaderboard? That would be my only suggestion right now, but otherwise as it is the game is very solid and already one of my favorites.
Finally! By: viccini - Nov 3, 2009 Version: 1.0 I've been waiting for a new poker game to replace Apple's Texas Hold'em on my phone and this is that game. The graphics are slick, the gameplay is fast, and the multiplayer isn't excruciatingly slow. The poker skills of the opponents in the game is a nice challenge too. Probably my favorite thing about this game is being able to play head's up against a friend via bluetooth. One thing that I would like to have in an update is the ability to add/play against friends in the 9 handed multiplayer. Anyone win the main event yet?

AI is fine By: AvlGuy - Nov 19, 2009 Version: 1.0 Everyone complaining about the AI being too smart or knowing the next cards to be dealt is clearly not very good at poker. I found that having tells displayed by the AI players in the high level games like the Rio made it a bit too easy. (yes I have won the whole series a couple of times.). Otherwise very solid well done poker game. I finally had to delete it from my phone since I was spending too much time playing it. Loved the high level cash games. P.s. The scroll wheel for selecting bet size is a pain. That needs work.

Fun By: Psycho Mantis - Nov 10, 2009 Version: 1.0 This is a good poker game that's fairly easy to pay. The price isn't bad though since it has a decent AI for the opponents and a lot to do. There only needs to be a couple fixes/addons:It should show the winners cards at the end even if everybody else folded. Nothing big but it's nice to know if you did the better choice or not. I can't seem to find anyone to play online. It may be a server rather than app error but I don't know. With the amount of good single player aspects it's not a deal breaker but it needs to be fixed.
WSOP App Review By: THETA Poker - Nov 2, 2009 Version: 1.0 Disclaimer: I am the author of THETA Poker, the easiest-to-use and strongest Texas Hold 'Em game for the iPhone and iPod touch. I hope you find my review to be objective nevertheless. Synopsis: WSOP is a No-Limit Texas Hold'em poker app with exceptional production values and a well-structured career mode but only fair artificial intelligence and no options to speak of. Pros: + Career mode is well designed, starting at low-limit tables at your local pub and moving up through six different, real-world casinos to get to the $250,000 buy-in game at the Rio. The videos of the casinos are a nice touch, although they contribute significantly to the app's size. + Three main types of on-device games: Cash Games, Sit & Go Tournaments (normal, turbo, and winner-take-all 9-player tables), and Two-Round Shootouts (27-player tournament with three players advancing from each of three 9-player tables). + Game play can be sped up by tapping to skip to your turn (despite the claims of the publishers, however, WSOP is *not* the fastest Texas Hold'em game. With THETA Poker at its quickest settings, you can play 600 hands per hour or more). + Good graphics, good sounds, and good music (you can listen to your own). + Very polished, solid app that saved the state of the game properly upon exit every time, even on the one time the app crashed (probably from being out of memory, which is pretty much unavoidable on iPhones and iPod touches, so don't consider the crash to be a negative in any way). + On-line Multiplayer mode against human opponents works well. This is a 9-player turbo sit & go with 30 seconds for each action, and you earn Leaderboard points for each top finish (e.g. 5 points for first place). Cons: - The artificial intelligence is only fair strength from 9-handed down to 3-handed (a little stronger heads-up), and every opponent plays with a similar style. The AI is supposed to get stronger at higher tables, but once I figured out how to win at the lower tables, the higher levels didn't provide much additional challenge. - No options other than game selection, avatar selection, and music. Every game is played at a 9-player Landscape table (top of the device on the left only). Larger tournaments would be an improvement (I expected a 1,000-plus player tournament from the name of the app, and was disappointed to find nothing but 9- and 27-player tournaments). Instead of having to tap repeatedly to speed up the game, it would be significantly less tedious to have an option to automatically skip. - The slider for selecting a bet amount works well as far as sliders go, but it still takes some work to select a precise amount (Tip: once you start dragging, the slider will keep moving until your finger is all the way to the edge of the screen). - Pushing your chips into the pot to go all-in didn't always work. Some of the time, it brought up the bet slider set at the call amount, requiring quite a bit of scrolling to get to the maximum. - Stats are minimal (bankroll, number of games, 1st and 2nd place percentages, rings, bracelets, and best hand) and are a bit hard to find (on the Player menu). It was, however, neat to see that it took me 48 games to go from my first game at the pub to a bracelet winner at the Rio (the repeat playability of WSOP will be seeing how few games I can win a bracelet in because the poker itself isn't challenging). - Every game starts with you on the button, which is an unnecessary slight advantage when a random button starting position is so easy to add. - "Tells" are silly (an exclamation point and a question mark) and can't be turned off. They feel like cheating to me, so I try to play quickly enough to not see most of them. - In the on-line game, a chat box would be a useful social addition. Overall, WSOP is a very enjoyable poker experience and would earn a fifth star by improving its computer opponents, adding some options, and providing larger tournaments to compete in. Very well done for a 1.0 release!
People complain too much By: DoctorMontalban - Dec 9, 2009 Version: 1.0.1 Fun quick poker action. Much quicker than many poker games Ive played with a good UI. Yeah the Ai isnt perfect but its not that much worse than some of the card rooms Ive played IRL or onlline, lol. The features like tells can be turned off. I like them though. People complain too much and aren't very constructive with it either. This game was cheap for how much I've been playing it. Quit whining.
Easy By: Yourallretards - Dec 5, 2009 Version: 1.0.1 This game is far easier then apples holdem. It's so funny when u all complain about the ai calling and hitting miracles. I'm assuming that most of those reviews are of those that haven't played poker for any given time. Yes the ai is bad and yes you don't always win with a decent hand. It's called varience. Go play 100k hands on pokerstars or any other poker site and u will see the same things. This game is so easy as I built a 10 m bankroll in less then 3 hours. Worth the reduced price as it has sngs and tournaments....

Great Fun By: will_wiggle - 11-Dec-2009 Version: 1.0.1 Terrific game and loads of fun. Not sure how good the AI is as seems to be quite good at keeping all the other players ticking over if you are sitting tight. Card distribution can be a bit funky as well. Have lost a number of pots to players who have gone all in on the flop with a low pair, only to pull a miracle straight or flush out the bag on the last river. Having said that have now gone all the way through and won the bug one! Not sure what game all the poor reviewers are playing. Clearly the my apps better please buy it game . Well worth the money and the in app re buy adds some vig to it which is good!
Great game but very hard By: MonkeyView - 23-Nov-2009 Version: 1.0 Don't get me wrong its a great feeling to win games on this but they could have made it a bit easier to progress. The other players are very aggressive and you can easily get sucked it to a big hand and before you know it you're out and you have to stack money up again. It seems at the moment playing on the top levels would be impossible due to the ridiculous buy in level. This has great graphics and the small player interaction videos are a great touch. I'm not the worst poker player in the world but i can imagine this game being extremely difficult even for a pro. Thats why it will only gets 4 and not 5 stars from me. They sucked some fun out of it being so hard to progress.
Great! By: MickeyGamer - Nov 22, 2009 Version: 1.0 My own quick personal review: - Great visuals, nice sounds. Excellent presentation. - Single player mode has realistic AI - Awesome carrer mode. Very addictive, very well designed - Online mulitplayer has some flaws - Using scroll wheel to raise the amount is annoying btw: If you are into other more simple games where deception is the key to winning: Try 'LIAR'S DICE Xmas' (a lot of fun when playing against your friends or family who don't like a 'sophisticated' game like poker)
Mostly solid By: Epicmonkey - Nov 20, 2009 Version: 1.0 Pretty good game as far as computer poker goes, but the "tell" feature ruins it. When the computer tells you which players are strong and which are weak it's not a poker game anymore. Jeez, why don't you just show me their cards while you're at it?The LEAST they could do is give us a way to turn it off. Also, the volume controls are weird (as several people have mentioned).Dump the "tell" feature and it's a winner.
Great, but fix sound control By: Neodarkhaven - Nov 19, 2009 Version: 1.0 I have had a lot of fun with this app and really enjoy how close this game is to the other WSOP games out there for other platforms. The play is smooth and challenging, however, there is one thing holding me back from playing as much as I'd hope to. I tend to play my iPhone games in quiet places, but this app will play it's music full volume in the videos even with your phone in silent or volume turned down all the way. I even unchecked the ingame volume control, but still sound. If fixed, this game would be perfect.

Decent poker game By: Wednesday - 15-Nov-2009 Version: 1.0 I bought this game hoping it would be better than the other ones I found. It has a nice looking interface, a career mode and the online play. I bought it mainly for the online play simply because I hate playing vs. computers. Some things they should do to improve the online play: 1. Speed up gameplay(online) somehow. Currently takes 5 minutes a hand or more, they need a turbo option. 2. Customizeable profiles 3. Chat 4. Ability to see cards folded 5. Improve networking somehow so connection isn't lost all the time I'd gave this game a 4 because the multiplayer option needs work. I'd say it was worth the money, especially if they do a decent update to fix these issues.
a must buy By: kdawg9005 - Nov 11, 2009 Version: 1.0 best poker game ever
