A great variation on the old classic game

This is a great game. The adventure variation is fun to play. I played for more than four hours and finally beat all the opponents to become the new Sensei. There are still more challenges to complete, but I'm having fun trying. I also enjoy the good old classic mode which I can now play with whatever opponent I choose. I personally don't care if the dice have fancy motions or not. They are fine the way they are. I'm sure the developers are reading all the comments and suggestions.
Be patient. It takes time to develop and improve a game.
Kudos to the developers for this great version of an old classic.

This is good for a pick up and play game. If you are hoping for a great story mode yahtzee game, the story mode isn't very long.I feel like the odds are just as if I'm playing actual yahtzee.Acheivements give you a goal and give replay value.Rating out of .Yahtzee- like feel Story mode Replay value Multi- player Price for value Overall If you are on the fence about getting this get it. You will be happy you did.Electronic arts you rock but please start updating your games. It takes you about a day.It makes us happier and want to buy more of your apps. We will show more people your apps.To the people that don't want to go to adventure mode to play rainbow yahtzee. Go to custom play choose rainbow and one player. This is a fun version of the classic game and just what I was looking for. At first I was disheartened by the most recent reviews of this game but I'm so glad I decided to try it myself. I have had no problem tapping in a correct score with a careful tap and my fingers aren't small. I also love having the option of Rainbow Yahtzee to play. And I'm jealous of those who've gotten too many Yahtzees. The game is fun. Enjoy!

Great title that is true to the original. So many other Yahtzee type games just don't get the layout right. The layout here is perfect and all in one neat little area. As mentioned here there are some improvements that can be made. For example, a Play Again? button after completely a multiplayer custom game. Also, the addition of high scores would be nice. However, it is still a 5 star app in my opinion. I prefer to just touch the cup to roll the dice as opposed to shaking a reasonably expensive electronic device into oblivion and thus any more dice animation and shake mechanics would just be overkill and slow down the games as far as I am concerned. You can set the shake sensitivity in the preferences all the way down to disable it and just touch the screen to roll.

Custom game option is tricky

The problem people..and I had...are having is that if you hit custom game, the game mode is able to change. That is you touch under "game" and it changes from classic to rainbow to battle to duplicates. I accidentally figured this out. Helps a lot!!! You think they would make the menu better. After knowing this you can instantly pich up your pod/phone and play battle or rainbow etc... Might want to fix that easy menu deal.Also AI skill level is which character you choose to play against. Each are better at different types of strategy.

Quite enjoyed it, well worth $3

Downloaded it around 11:00PM and couldn't put it down, finished "Adventure" mode around 2:00AM, the time flew by. I'd of finished much earlier if I realized you could tap on the screen while your opponents are playing to by pass their animations. No crashing problems at all. I did get tired of 'shaking' the dice; I just found it easier to click the button to do it. I was able to play my music in the background and just have the game sounds so that was nice. All and all I really enjoyed the game, it didn't hurt that I had played countless hours of Yahtzee in real life while growing up.

I am a yahtzee fan, and really like this game. You can just have a classic game by yourself... or play 'adventure' mode where you go through challenges against cpu controlled opponents, which is pretty fun.
Graphics, and sounds are awesome! My only complaint is that the multiple people battle game in adventure mode is pretty much dumb luck.
Honestly if you have even a passing interest in Yahtzee, this game is for you.

Best Game On My Touch

Buy it. I like Yahtzee. I have owned Yahtzee in one for or another on every portable device I have owned (Palm, Windows Mobile, BlackBerry) an now Apple's. THIS IS THE BEST. I bought 5 Dice for the Touch some time ago and it is a great app for simply Yahtzee. This is so much better than that great app. This you get fantastic presentation as well as a depth of gameplay modes, characters, locations, etc. Wow. I am really impressed. Best game on my Touch and it was only 5 bucks. It's worth 20. Really. Have fun!!!

So when I first got my iPod Touch this app wasn't out and I was using a die app that I found with score cards from the real thing. When it finally came out, I grabbed it - right away! And to this day I've played at least one game a day! There's single player "Play Now", Multiplayer "Custom Play" and a whole single player adventure-type game too! There's also different kinds of YAHTZEE like "Classic", "Battle" and my favorite "Rainbow" which uses different coloured die for new moves and options. Overall, my fav app and I recommend it to everyone!

Much better than I was expecting! This was cheaper than the $5 handheld game you can buy at any discount store (which is what I was expecting this to be like) and the graphics are very good. The only thing I'd like to see is the ability to "play again" when in the "Play Now" regular game mode - right now you exit and have to select "Play Now" again, kind of awkward as it is. Will definitely be watching for more EA games in the future!

A Must App For Yahtzee Lovers

This app has so many versions of Yahtzee and so many opportunities to compete with computerized (but very "colorful" characters) You can play as a single or compete with computer designed characters who are the Yahrzee "experts.". You play each of them (sometimes two or three of them at a time) as you try to move up through the ranks to become the Sensei of Yahtzee The sounds of the dice mixing in the cup and then hitting the table are so very realistic, and the visuals are vibrant.My problem is that after many, many games I reached the top only to find out that there were no more challenges. I can still play as a single or against the former Sensei, however I am hoping a new version with new characters will be available. I really miss the fun of the competition.

Very fun and well worth the money!

This is one game that I keep wanting to play. I just love all the different options and playing the adventure mode. One thing I think it needs is a back button to go back screens if you make a wrong selection of game. And a undo button if you accidentally put something in the wrong category. The buttons are kind of small and sometimes I mean to hit small straight for example and accidentally zero out my large straight. Except for these couple things I highly recommend this game.

In addtion to classic mode Yahtzee it has battle mode 2, 3, or 4 players CPU. Of course you can play against humans too, just hand device around...no wifi though. Battle mode each starts with 100 points and you try to elminate your opponent(s). Max is 100 you can ever have. Upper 1,2,3,4,5,6 gives you points (health). Lower 3x,4x,fullhouse, small straight, large straight attack your opponent. Chance is rolled on and it could either attack or give you health and possibly backfire (called poison).
Rainbow Yahtzee is same except also has Red, Green, Blue flush (all 5 are red, all 5 are green, all 5 are blue) if you get say Red Flush then it's 35 pts. Also has full house with colors. You can have say 2 greens and 3 reds and that is worth 15 pts. Basically it mixes things up because you are trying to get your regular stuff but sometimes it's tempting to go for a rainbow flush. I could be way off but say you have 3 reds, you have a 50% better chance (3 colors rather than 6 numbers) to get a red flush than a Yahtzee (five of a kind) roll.
Has adventure mode.....has many achievements (called challenges) to obtain too. Like score 5 points in a game for instance. Has statistics, and unlockables includes 14 challenges, 10 biographies of CPU characters, and 5 awards.
Duplicate mode is where for each and every turn you and your opponents(s) have the exact same 5 dice for each of the three rolls. Supposedly more strategy to it.
Can choose to disable music and sound before game even starts so it won't interrupt you ipod music playing. One thing I definitely adjusted was the shake to roll sensitivity to like 2 bars. i just tap to roll the dice cup but you can shake if you wish to roll that way. No it doesn't have Motion X physics dice rolling just simple animated dice appearing rapidly from the edge of the screen. I wish it had local LAN wi-fi though. Everything fits on the screen so no scrolling required like some other yahtzee games. Very impressed they added some additional modes to spice things up as they say variety is the spice of life.

NO POLISHING NEEDED! Hands down the most entertaining yahtzee game out there with 4 adaptation (classic, rainbow, battle, and duplicate) Story mode could be longer... But there are acheivments that will take awhile to complete and even after that yahtzee is just fun to pickup and play while waiting sometimes. *Only sugestion I could make is make 2 player (4 player would be even better) WiFi. So I can play my iPhone and my girl can use here's

For people who enjoy yahtzee, this is a great app. Rolling the dice and keeping score is very easy. Furthermore, this app allows for multiplayer games on a single iTouch or iPhone which is ideal for when you are commuting with friends (or the kids).
Excellent implementation of yahztee for a mobile device. The only improvement I can suggest is to make the buttons a little bigger and/or add a back option incase you click the wrong one during a game.

Love the variety of ways to play yahtzee!

Didn't love so much:
***The adventure part of the game was too short. I beat it in a day. However, there is infinite replay value in "custom play" where you can choose one of the above mentioned versions.
***The fact that, when you finish a game in "custom play", you have to go back to the menu and start from scratch to play the same game again rather than having a "play again?" option.
This is one of my favorite games on my iPod. I consider it a wise purchase.

Having great fun meeting all the goals set out for you in adventure mode and the extras. Enjoyable strategy the whole family can enjoy. Buford does cheat at times. If you roll a yatzee, he rolls one right after you. Feel like wanting to punch out a cartoon figure. Just adds to the challenge. Great fun and good price. No crash or problems, however would like wifi play. We do have fun passing the iPod around.

I purchased this just because I needed a back-up plan in case I got bored of reading books on upcoming multiple flights I had to take. Um, let me just say that I got hooked on this game so much that it's ALL I did during my many flights. The one time I did try to read, I was thinking about how much I wanted to play Yahtzee again. The game, graphics, etc is great. I love that there are challenges to complete in order to win the overall game. The only challenge I can't seem to beat is 'Scoring 100 on a Battle game'. Grrrr!!

This game gets 5 stars from me based simply on the fact that the music is from The Sims... I el oh vee eeh it! No seriously tho, i really am enjoying this game! I just bought Simcity and was dissappointed so i was waery of buying another app! Not regretting it at all! I love the characters, and the gameplay is fantastic! Online multiplyer would be nice though so ill be keeping an eye out for that! And yeah.. Battles are really hard and adventure mode is fairly difficult for me, but bot to the point where its not enjoyable! Great game! I really like it alot!!

@DataByne - chill out man, it's just a game, you don't need to write a novel about the logistics of how it's played....we know already. You must have a lot of time on your hands bro. If you don't like it and want more realistic game play, go buy the board game with real dice and cup, then you can get that realistic 3D effect your looking for when you roll the dice. I think the game is fun on the iPhone and I don't need to put the game under a high powered microscope to look at it's flaws. It's a simple game, you roll the dice and add up your score and keep in mind that it's a software game and will never duplicate the real thing so go analyze something Monopoloy, Uno, etc. I'll hve fun reading your mindless jibber jabber.
