The Broteinheit (BE) is useful for people with diabetes mellitus to rate their food or meals referring to carbohydrates. One BE equals to 12 gram of carbohydrates. With the help of a BE-table you can exchange different foods, for instance 100 gram of apple or 25 gram of bread include the same amount of carbohydrates, 12 gram or 1 BE.
