** Tweet your workouts and win! Weekly giveaway, see http://bit.ly/motivator for details ** ** Featured in "Best iPhone Apps" book by Josh Clark and published by O'Reilly ~ http://tinyurl.com/mz235k ** ** Works with Nike+ - you can use C25K app and Nike+ app at the same time ** ** You can now select music and skip tracks right from the C25K app (this feature requires iPhone 3.0 update) ** Start running and get in shape with the most popular beginner's running plan. Couch to 5K has been helping thousands of people ease into running and incrementally build up their running strength in just 9 weeks. Couch to 5K plan in a nutshell: - You alternate between walking and running - Takes 9 weeks to complete - You workout 3 days per week - Each workout session is from 30-40 minutes long (including 5 minutes warm up and 5 minutes cool down) For example, the first week you run for 60 seconds then walk for 90 seconds and repeat that for 20 minutes. That's it. Anybody can do that. The second week you increase to 90 seconds running and 2 minutes walking, and so on until at week 9 you are able to run for 30 minutes straight which is roughly 5K (3.1 miles). To learn more about C25K running program visit http://c25kapp.com and click on the "About C25K plan" link. This app gives you audio prompts every time you need to change from running to walking according to the C25K plan. You can listen to your music and enjoy your workout without constantly looking at your stopwatch. If you are doing the C25K this is the app to have! FEATURES: - Select music and skip tracks without leaving the C25K app! - Plays audio alerts you when you need to switch from running to walking. - Configure optional alerts in Settings: - "Half point" alert, so you know when to turn back if you are running outside. - "Last run" alert, so you can push a little bit harder on your last run - Keeps track of the days you've completed. - Lets you listen to your own music while doing Couch to 5K intervals. - Integrates with Facebook so you can publish a story in your feed when you complete a workout. - Integrates with Twitter, so you can change your status right from the app I made this app because I started the C25K running plan myself. The C25K program and this app have helped me get healthier and fitter and I hope it does the same for you. You can follow my running and app development progress at http://c25kapp.com

FABULOUS!! I CAN BE MYSELF AND LISTEN TO MY MUSIC!! By: Quiverisfull - Apr 19, 2009 Version: 1.3 This is just FABULOUS!! I have been hooked on the C25K program for about 4 wks and was loving it. With other free podcasts you have to listen to someone elses music and that is not always a good thing! With this program I am able to listen to my style and genre without having to watch the timer on how long have I been walking or running! Thank you SO MUCH!!!! Love it and would recomend it to all!!!
C25K got me off the couch By: couch runner - Apr 16, 2009 Version: 1.2 I have been walking for about a year and have managed to lose about 25 pounds and have another 25 to go. This app was just what I needed. I am on week 4 right now and am feeling great. I have never been a runner and am starting from scratch. I knew Oprah lost all her weight about ten years ago doing a couch to 5 K approach and she was big when she started so I could do it. I love that it plays over my music and that I can head out the door and when it says " you are half way done" I just turn around. It is easy and works flawlessly. I also am not sure about the facebook thing. I'm not sure I want everyone on my facebook page t know exactly how many seconds I ran and walked - just did week 4 day 1 would be plenty.
Can't Say Enough... By: warrior4777 - Apr 14, 2009 Version: 1.3 I don't write reviews unless I'm blown away by an app - this app is great! I used to run and since kids, I have slowed down. This did what it's title says - it got me off the couch and got me running again. I run cross country and it even tells you when the half-way mark has been reached, so I cna turn around. If you're thinking about getting into, or back into running, this is what you need! It is well worth the change you'd spend to buy it - I'd pay $10.00 for it. Thank you developers!
Very nice By: Sdallnct - Mar 24, 2009 Version: 1.3 While I currently have no plans to run any races I added running to my workouts this year for better overall health. However I was having trouble coming up with a sytematic approach that I could easly track. The c25k is a great program but who wants to stare at a watch for 30-35 minutes?
So this app does all the work for you and works seemlessly with your iPhone. I leave my iPhone on the tray of the treadmill, but you could leave it in your pocket or arm band. For once started you don't need to look at or tend to it all!
Nicly done. Recommended!
First app I've decided to rate By: Rex Barrett - Mar 23, 2009 Version: 1.2 I'm a bit of an app collector. I've spent a lot on these little guys filling up my iPhone. Seriously though, this is the first application that I've decided to come back and leave a review for. Fantastic little piece of software, lets me keep my genius playlist going while still giving me cues to walk and jog. I wish I would have thought of creating this simple yet effective application. Well worth the few bucks spent.
Fantastic! By: tinkerbells revenge - Oct 30, 2009 Version: 2.1 After my 5th child I needed something to help me get back into the shape I knew was hiding behind all the extra layers I now had. I read about the C25K online, and found the app very simple to use. However, I love the way I could log my runs on Nike+ and so I've been using both now for about 2 months. Since Nike+ could run in the background, I would start it first and then start C25K. Worked perfectly, but I did always wish that somehow the two could be meshed together. Now, I am just ecstatic about how easy my pre-run has become. I'm looking forward to tomorrow morning and trying out the newest version. Together, these programs have made my entire next month, literally!
It works By: Mapplecu - Mar 5, 2009 Version: 1.2 This program works great. I like to listen to my own music and this program was the answer. Also, with version 1.2, you can lock the screen to avoid accidentaly pausing the program. I now leave the screen on while on I run so I can see the timers. In addition the program stays on the homescreen of my ipod as a reminder to run and it tracks your progress so you don't accidently skip ahead. Thanks to the author for sharing.
Now I have NO excuse! By: proverbialgirl - Feb 23, 2009 Version: 1.2 The Couch to 5K program from Runner's World is the only program that has gotten me to run 2 miles without stopping. Unfortunately, once you stop running you loose your fitness very quickly. I was dreading starting over again (trying to time 90 sec intervals...) but this app makes the C25K program much easier! Now I can listen to my favorite music AND receive prompts for walking and running. The developer included a non-intrusive warning chime before telling you to run or walk - as a treadmill runner, I really appreciate this.
Changed my life! By: cantputdownmyphone - Sep 29, 2009 Version: 1.4 This app, in addition to the c25k program itself, really did change my life. I was unable to run more than a few minutes in the beginning (and hated every second of it) but I did it faithfully 3 times a week and finished all 10 weeks. That was two months ago, and I can now run 6 miles without stopping, and love it!Yes, there are other ways to do the program, but this one let's you use your own music, which was instrumental in my wanting to do it. All in all, the best three dollars I've ever spent!
Wish I'd had this app earlier... By: Jwag68 - Jan 22, 2009 Version: 1.1 This app is FANTASTIC and I wish I had had it when I started C25K. I used podcasts designed for the C25K program that have music and someone telling you when to walk or run, but always found it difficult to keep a steady pace because the beat of the music didn't match my running speed. With the C25K app, I can create my own playlists with music that has the right BPM for my stride (I use beaTunes to determine BPM), and then run this app at the same time so I have the convenience of not having to watch the clock to determine when to walk or run. I have already finished the Couch to 5K running program, but wanted to try this app for its potential future expansion into the Gateway to 8K or Freeway to 10K programs (hint, hint ;) ). The only thing I had trouble with was the fact that you can't hit the sleep button to turn off the screen or the app will stop. I didn't have a pocket, so I was holding my iPhone in my hand while I ran, and at some point I must have accidentally touched the "pause" button because the timer had stopped. After that, I was a little distracted because I had to keep checking it to make sure I hadn't done it again. Also, I was going to suggest that you add the ability to skip weeks in case someone downloads the app when they're in the middle of the program. However, I was playing around with the app and touched the "edit" button to see what would happen, and found out I can touch the little + signs to mark a day completed. You might want to add that info to the help section, because right now it says you can't skip weeks.

Excellent App! By: dokey27 - 3-Aug-2009 Version: 1.4 This is a great little app...its simple and easy to use!!
The running program is great for a beginner or if youve been off for a while. It keeps track of what day you're on...all you have to do is activate your own iPod music, open app, touch the indicated next workout, and start.
An excellent motivator since it's keeps track of what program day you're on, voice indicates the run/walk minutes and the halfway point. You can just enjoy the worlout without having to think of the technical stuff!
The exercise screen is clutter free, with a clear time display. Really like the facebook connection, an easy way to track your runs with the link built-in.
There is another similar app that's cheaper, but appears to have more "clutter". Personally, I find this one provides all the features that you need to just do it, Without any extras that may encourage procrastination!
This app is simple and works. 5 stars!
Simple but effective! By: Neverflown - 30-Jan-2009 Version: 1.1 I have been following the C25K programme for a month, and have found the music on the available Podcasts to much to bear. After a few weeks of spending far too long making my own mp3's to run to, I found this little app. For me it is terrific. Simply start your playlist, open this app, hit start and away you go. Could be improved by a volume control for the voice on the app. But great value for money and a £1.79 sterling outlay replaced the need for a £50 per month gym membership. Buy it!
Best Running App!! By: MASO1974 - 06-May-2009 Version: 1.3 I have been using this app for 4 weeks now. Unfortunately I did not find it until about week 3 of the program. This is by FAR the best app for the novice runner. It's a bargain at twice the price! The new facebook integration is fantastic! I just bought the GW28K (Gateway To 8K) which is the next program after the C25K. I hope by the time I finish it, that Alex will have the 10K and Beyond App done!
THE BEST C25K APP AROUND By: Princess Stef - Sep 25, 2009 Version: 2.0 This app gets 5 runners in my book. Not to mention the developer, Alex. He is very nice and responsive to questions or suggestions! This app was not only developed with the user in mind but by someone who is using the program as well and knows and understands what beginning runners are looking for and need. This app does it all, you can repeat weeks if need be, play your own music, and I love how it will post to Facebook and Twitter for you! That, along with the quick responses from the developer, is why I choose to pay more for this app over the other. In a world where just about everyone connects online, it's nice to have that quick intergation. I do have the Nike plus but I have not used it with the app yet. But I've used my own songs and when using it at the gym I turn my music up all of the way to drown out any other noise and I still have no problem hearing the prompts telling me to run, walk, or when I'm halfway or at the last run! Also, and this took some playing with, you CAN change songs while you are using the program and have the screen locked. I would suggest playing with this first do you know the right amount of pressure. After you start your music, start the app and your week, then lock the screen. Then with a little pressure but not too much, double tap the circle "home" button at the bottom and the track will appear with the forward/pause/rewind buttons! It's great. I don't even know what more to ask for?! But I'm looking forward to future updates and more great options. I'm a new runner and signed up for my first 5K on Oct. 10th. I can't wait. And this app is making it possible! What are you waiting for? Like Nike says, "Just Do It!" UPDATE***Since the update version came out, loving it even more!! I love being able to scroll and see the runs I have coming up. I just finished W6D2 this morning and getting closer to my first 5K on the 10th of Oct. For people who say they don't like the FB or Twitter updates, then don't use it! It's that simple. This app is perfect and best C25K app out there. My friends on FB say they love seeing my updates and how it motivates them. After a couple of 5K's I can't wait to try Alex's GW28K! Happy running!
helping me accomplish my dream By: bac511 - Aug 30, 2009 Version: 1.4 I have always had a re-occuring dream about running...yet I have NEVER been able to realize that dream...until now. I have NEVER stuck with any exercise program let alone a running program, but this app is helping me make it all possible. Before I felt like I was guessing what was going to help me get in shape, but this app tells me what to do. Even on weeks when I didn't think i could accomplish what it wanted me to, I DID. I am excited for the next run day (usually lol) and I dont give up out of frustration! It's simply amazing. I am so grateful to have found this program!! Keep at it. Sure I want to lose weight/size, I need to lose about 30 lbs or 3 pant sizes, but it's not about the weight for me anymore, it's about keeping up with the program...and succeeding. I have never been more proud of myself!
GREAT BEGINNER RUNNING APP By: iuvitues - Jun 26, 2009 Version: 1.3 I was not a runner but wanted to begin. This was a great app to slowly pick up the pace and get to a 5K. I'm almost there and have to say this app gets lots of the credit. Play your own music, listen to the prompts of run, walk, halfway, cooldown. Loved that it told me "halfway" so I can turn around and headback home without worrying about distance at this point. Great app, never failed me, those that are complaining about the sleep button or closing the app, they all close down and stop if you shut it down. Set your music, start the app and don't stop. Texts and calls come in but if I don't reply or answer, the app keeps going. If you are thinking about doing it, DO IT. I also would love a 10K from these guys, I want this style app over the other one in the itunes store. I'd pay for it again.
It works! By: Supermans angel - Jun 4, 2009 Version: 1.3 First let me say that I am a smoker. I had not exercised in 20 years until four months ago when I realized I wasn't keeping my girlish figure and had to do something so I started taking a bootcamp class three days a week. I was discouraged because I couldn't keep up with the group and then I found this program! I just completed Week 5 Day 3 (20 minute jog)! If someone had told me six months ago that I could do this, I would have laughed! Best thing I've done for myself in a long time. I'm now thinking I want to run a half marathon with my brother-in-law later this year!! Buy it! Do it!
Life Changing! By: RedCE - Jun 2, 2009 Version: 1.3 I've always thought running was the purest form of torture. This freaking amazing app has turned me into a "runner"! I was completely out of shape when I started. The first two weeks simply expanded my lungs and released endorphines! Then, when the longer intervals began, my body took an amazing turn and reveled in it! This app seriously changed my adult life. I am less stressed and I feel younger!
Great App - And A Tip By: AvenueQPat - May 12, 2009 Version: 1.3 First of all, I love the app - even if I don't follow the prompts 100% of the time because of my fitness level - it is GREAT to have a timer on it that will tell you how you are doing. What I have been doing to avoid calls is put the IPhone into AIRPLANE mode. The only downside is that it will not automatically update to Facebook, but if it is that important, after your run, just set it to start over again and let it run through the time for the day, and then it can update!
Great App! By: AmyB! - May 8, 2009 Version: 1.2 I love this app! Its much better than the podcasts that are out there (which are great too) because you can play the app on top of your own music or none at all. It took me a few mess ups to realize that I need to lock the app so it doesnt pause when I put it in my pocket. There is always room for improvment, so I would like to see: *easier to slide the bar (it often does not register my finger) *ability to view future runs *track distance, strides, gps etc (not sure if this is even possible)
