Could you please add... By: James.Christian - Feb 8, 2009 Version: 1.1 Just last week one of my students left my class and then had a seizure in the following class and thank God the teacher "winged it" and did nothing detrimental to the student like the "old school" first aid method of shoving an object in the mouth to bite on... That is outdated says our school nurse. So, would you please add a section for "Seizures" in the app. Kind Regards, James
Great!! By: Heather Ryan - Feb 6, 2009 Version: 1.0 I downloaded this app because I wanted a quick cheat sheet to use if I ever needed to give CPR (I've taken CPR classes) this app isn't really for teaching or training purposes so if that's what your expecting don't download. However if you need a quick reference for emergencies this I's perfect!
However, I think people should know that in some states (like California) if you call 911 from a cell phone (it takes longer for emergency workers to get there) the call does not go to a local responder, but to the highway patrol who then has to figure out your location and contact your local responder. So whenever possible it is best to call 911 from a landline!
Great Product By: iB-RaD - Feb 2, 2009 Version: 1.0 As an EMT-B in the state of NY, I can really appreciate a product like this. More times than not, having a civilian perform CPR or use an AED on scene can be the difference between life and death. Statistically, a patients chances of survival are 37 percent better if CPR is performed immediately. This guide didn't help me at all, as I am already trained in all this and more, but it is definitely great for someone to have. Thanks for creating a potentially life saving product.
Essential By: shoyuweenie - 09-Jan-2009 Version: 1.0 This should be on everyones iPhone/iPod Touch. It is well designed, informative and upto date which is essential for any first aid application. It can be customised for Australian use and yes the 112 number is for dialling the emergency number from your mobile anywhere in the world (eg, 112 defualts to 911 in the USA). Can't recommend this high enough. Well done to the developers and look forward to the full version!
Great Start - waiting on further content By: Sydneysider01 - 02-Nov-2009 Version: 1.3 I think this is a fantastic app and really shows the power of a smart phone. Couple of additional ideas: 1/ CPR: have a "start button" that starts a timer and calls out the CPR cadence by voice and calls the breath sequence. Hitting stop button times length of CPR for EMT info. 2/ Photo's of blue-ring octopus/bluebottle/funnel web etc. tapping them leads to specific first aid for sting/bite 3/ Really keen to see rest of manual in this app - fully fledged First aid manual 4/ Each section with an "updated date" some of the sections such as CPR are constantly changing so it would be good to be able to review what date the advice was last updated. Keep up the good work - this has the potential to become a crucial iphone app and assist with saving lives!
very useful information - great - thanks By: 99sg - 06-Jul-2009 Version: 1.3 I can see this being a very useful application. i'm not trying to be negative, just constructive - so - i'd like to see an 'other' tab to include probably the less urgent things like bites and stings, asthma, eyes, sunburn, concussion etc. i'm a surf instructor in australia, and while i've done many first aid courses, i often forget treatment for for snakes, stingrays, octopus, jellyfish, spiders, bees. etc.
