Reviews:
A great nutritional resource By: kimmaggie - 2-Mar-2009 Version: 1.9.0 This app contains a huge database of nutritional info on foods and restaurant items. The e-mail support is outstanding. Both times I used the support, I got a response in a few minutes! Constantly being updated as users request stuff be added - restaurants, food items, the added search function, or expansion of the nutritional detail. Can now work with a wide variety of diet programs, including weight watcher's type points. Highly recommended for anyone watching what they eat.
Awesome App By: Amir1 - 13-Feb-2009 Version: 1.7.0 This is a great app! It has a huge database of food items and covers the many variations of the various foods you can find at a grocery store (the bread section alone seems to have almost every kind of bread you can buy and there are a few vegetables listed that I've never heard of). If you're neurotic about what you eat like me, you will want to buy this app. It also has lots of fast food places and restaurants listed to pick from too if you eat out a lot. They also respond very fast if you e-mail a suggestion. Totally worth it!
very, very useful By: yawellitsgood - 26-Feb-2009 Version: 1.8.0 gotta admit, wasn't expecting much from this app, but after trying it for the last few days, it's really good. Main reasons why i like it: Shows individual calorie intake, like how much fat, protein, carbs, fibre, per day. (those who use macros, cutting, bulking, mainiting etc) A favorites section, which makes adding a meal take less than a minute if you have it saved. Large library of stuff. replaces web sites that you would normally use, and in your pocket. makes counting calories very easy.
Great database, horrible interface By: Adwiz - Jun 10, 2009 Version: 1.15 As others have pointed out, this has by far the most comprehensive database of all the diet tracking apps for the iPhone. The USDA database isn't built very well, but that's not the developer's fault. I find that a search usually works well. The problem with this app is that the user interface is basically the worst I've encountered. Terrible. Things that are explained in the user manual don't even exist! The favorites option doesn't work except for custom items. If you add an item to your diary, say a glass of milk, and then have another you can't simply add to the quantity -- you have to add another food item! You can select portions of a serving, but not in decimals -- the minimum is 1/8. I could go on as there are dozens of truly awful interface problems. But until the competitors with good interfaces build in a more useable database, this is the only viable choice.
Best yet By: Heathercelene111444 - 30-Jun-2009 Version: 1.15 This is definatley the best application. It has restaurant calories, regular food, custom food entries you can save into a list. Exercises, calories burned, weight tracker, graph of weight changes, custom calorie settings! You can journal all the food intake. Which is great because you can make your OWN calorie limit. Not only calorie limit, but sodium, fat, etc (optional). It shows your calorie intake even when you exit the application. So much more great stuff. Well worth the money in my opinion.
Excellent App By: jabberjamie - 9-Jul-2009 Version: 1.16 Really impressed with this app. 1. Large list of common foods and restaurants (many restaurants I didn't expect to be listed...some Canadian too) that list caloric/points, etc. (configure to the settings you like) along with fat, carbs, fiber, protein, cholesterol, sodium and sugars. 2. Able to add your own items if not listed. 3. Great journaling feature to keep track of daily food intake. Those three reasons alone make this app well worth the money. Simple yet effective design. Updated frequently. Great value.
This is a great app, combined database and diary, worth the money By: MBonnice - Jul 3, 2009 Version: 1.15 It combines a database of foods with an itemized daily food entry journal tracker. The database includes common foods (grocery store items, like fruit, vegs, meat, dairy) and restaurant items (I get the HealthMex Mahi Mahi tacos at Rubio's, and they are in here). Each item in the daily journal is displayable, although it does not look like a spreadsheet. You can create a spreadsheet by emailing a journal to yourself then copying the data into columns in Excel. I'm on Weight Watchers, and it can show points. The exercise points are easy to use as well.
Nice piece of software By: aparent - Jul 9, 2009 Version: 1.16 Update... Thanks for including the exercises to help calculate calorie deficits when trying to lose weight. I will now increase to 5 stars!.....This software delievers all that is described. If you know how to use your iPhone or iPod touch you will not have any problems using. Not sure why some have said hard to use. Large food database that is also customizeable. A great addition would be to incorporate an exercise database. You could then put in food intake and then show calories burned. The only thing that could be added is editing a previous food entry. It may do it but I have not got that one worked out yet.
This is a Must-Have app! By: irtoots - Jul 12, 2009 Version: 1.15 This app has simplified dieting to a fine degree! It is so intuitive to use, I only had to consult the user guide once during initial setup. Entering a food item into the log is a breeze and you can adjust the quantity to get the correct calorie count. The nice surprise is the Exercise database that's included. It is extensive and intuitive and shows you the calories burned in the Journal portion of the app. The only problem I have is finding the correct food item from the database. I can find Walrus meat easily, but just try to find a chile relleno! The organization of the food items leaves a little to be desired, but overall, this is an app that I would not live without. Worth every penny and a must-have for anyone watching their weight or trying to stay fit.
This app helped me lose 12 pounds! By: Jan I am - Jul 14, 2009 Version: 1.13 This app is beautifully designed and simple to use. They have a data base with many common foods and many restaurants, and it's also possible to add "custom foods" for things you eat regulary. You can track calories, carbs, sodium, whatever you are concerned about. I love the simple fact that you can keep track of what you really eat, and the fact that you can easily do it on your iphone (so no excuses that you need to wait until you get to a computer, or have a chance to write it in a journal). This combination is a very powerful tool to help you really take a cold hard look at what you've been eating. Of couse, you won't actually lose any weight unless you burn more than you take in. But it does help you see how much you're taking in. It helped me lose 12 pounds so far, and I plan to keep using it.

it's a great App. One of the best i've tried so far, especially for the ipod touch By: Lynn_Brown1 - Aug 7, 2009 Version: 1.16 I have an itouch and this App doesn't require internet access to work. You really should keep that in mind when buying App's. I have personally lost over 20lbs since I started using this App a little over 2 months ago. I carry my itouch with me everywhere now and i log everything I eat. That has made me rethink what I'm eating, I look for lower calories options or I ask myself if I'm really hungary. Every weight loss program request that you keep a log and this is it. It works but like anything else if you don't use it, it won't.
Version 1.17 is Excellent! By: kimberlyinmn - Aug 8, 2009 Version: 1.17 This is a great app that does pretty much everything now that I want it to. The ability to now add non-custom foods to the Favorite list is great! The database has pretty much all of the items that I would ever need. A few items for my wishlist that I have but they aren't necessities would be to have a weekly "extras" for the food points, the choice to group the food journal by meal, and the ability to group several choices into a "meal". (Although the easy workaround is to create a custom food that lists the components and the food score like "2 toast, pb & j". This application is very easy to use. I've deleted all of the other apps that I was comparing this to because I think this one is the best of the available apps (especially when tracking food scores).
Outstanding Application By: Primate1 - Aug 10, 2009 Version: 1.17 I recently purchased a desktop application that has a built-in data base and exercises for a considerable cost! After trying this application for a week, I have deleted the desktop app because --- this one is better! It is easy to use, always with me (I don't have to reboot my computer to make entries), and it adjusts the coloric balance based on a wide variety of exercises. Look no further. If you are serious about nutrition, this app is a must.
Love this App!! By: Harvey O. Bogwaiter - Aug 13, 2009 Version: 1.17 I was recently diagnosed a Type II diabetic and needed an easy way to track my carb & fat intake to perscribed amounts. I found this app and use it along with GlucoseBuddy to help me track my diet. This has helped me identify foods that negatively affect my blood sugar. I've been using this app faithfully, entering everything I eat, for about 25 days and have lost 13.5 lbs and my glucose has improved. This is a terrific tool that helps me plan meals, track exercise and it automatically calculates calorie burn. Keep up the good work!
Great product, bad reviews not current. By: Blackitalian - Feb 23, 2009 Version: 1.8.0 First, let me say the bad reviews are not accurate. This app shows all nutritional info, protein, fat, sodium, ect. Also you can add food not found on this app and save it in you favorites. Just: enter the nutritional info, then add it to todays intake, then add to favorites. You can even delete it from todays intake after if you want ( may be simpler way, but that's how I do it). Secondly, this app really let's you take the guess work out of what your eating. I thought I had a well balanced medium size lunch and realized after that I ate 1000 calories!! Often when cooking at home you don't truly know how much your eating. No more math, weighing out portions, ect. just enter what you want to eat and see the truth. Lastly send in requests for more products to be added. They seem to add more on a regular basis. Better yet get the nutritional info and product name so they don't have as much work to do and help make this product better. If you find missing info in products listed get the info (google is great) and email them the missing facts. We all want to eat well, that's why we bought this app, so let's work together. Thanks for a great product, high B/P runs in my family and you have helped me make better life choices in what I eat. If nothing else you may have saved one life from the "silent killer".
Great app By: malindsay - Aug 23, 2009 Version: 1.18 I disagree that this is a useless app. This is the best app I have found if you are tracking what you are eating. If you have ever been on Weight Watchers this is the best app for tracking points. The newest update now allows for your extra weekly points. It is very easy to add custom foods. The restaurant database is great. If I could make one change it would be to add circuit training like Curves to the exercise list. But even without that I could not live without this app. Being a diabetic it is very important for me to track my carbs. This app makes that very easy. I love this app.
Great App By: 1974B.C. - Aug 22, 2009 Version: 1.18 Updated: 8/22So this latest version adds weekly score tracking and the last version really improved journal entry. This is one of the best maintained and improving apps in app store. Fantastic! Only thing missing now is option to organize journal by meals.--------So I've tried just about every app that looked like it might remotely be worthwhile for tracking my Weight Watchers. All fell way short except for this one. This app includes good interface, a solid food database, configurable food score with configurable rounding to handle "points", great organizaition of food database (including favorites). The only thingmissing is the tracking of weekly allowance (for which I currently use Tally Counter). Only negatives I have on this are:-- to change an item in the food journal you have to delete and re-add it (can't just change quantity)-- from what i've seen the "search" feature does not search my favorite foods, only the datbaaseWhat I love is that the developer is very active in updating/improving this app, so I feel that the missing things are on their way. I am recommending this to all my Weight Watchers friends (since the WWnew web-based mobile app has left many of us disappointed).BTW: If you don't know the Weight Watchers formula, just search the web. This app even lets you cap the fiber at a set number of grams to handle that. It just doesn't handle the "Set Points" from thenew Momentum program -- so I add those as Favorites.
Best By: Wmferguson007 - Aug 26, 2009 Version: 1.18 I have been using this program on my iPhone for several weeks. I like the fact that you can add your own items with all the nutrition lable. I use the Weightwatchers system and it works great. I have lost many pounds using this program and like the fact that you do not have to go online to use it unlike the Weightwatchers system. I tracked both for two weeks and found that they both had about the same food points. I also like the settings that allow you to set fiber, sodium, fat etc. Unlike Weightwatchers which do not allow these settings. I would like a simple points counter that would allow you to put in products found in the market without having to add them. There is a points counter for the iPhone that I use, cost: .99 cents. I got a quick responce from their tech. dept. on how to change the value of food points. I found that they do have a web site that explains all the features of this program. It is well worth the price of $2.99 and they are always upgrading it. My advice is to buy this program if you really want to track nutrition of package foods or menu items found in restaurants, many are listed.
Loosing weight & loving this app! By: mctoth - Aug 27, 2009 Version: 1.18 I have been using this app for 13 weeks & I have lost 15 pounds! I am doing Weight Watchers so I am eating healthy & not hungry all the time. This app has really helped me track my points and keep me honest. It is easy to use & adjust portions based on what you eat so to thoes who said you can't change the portion size...you are wrong! The new update made it even easier to adjust portion size! Thank you for an easy to use app!
A diet advantage! By: Redbirdkelly - Aug 30, 2009 Version: 1.18 This app is the best ever! I have tried diets from low carb, count calories and anything that I thought would work. The hardest part is keeping track of it all. I am finally losing weight consistantly because I have my food journal with me and it's SO complete! Food, exercise and any value that you need to track. This is an incredible app. Online weightwatchers was a bust for me because I don't carry around my computer AND it's very expensive. Way to go guys. My husband wants an Iphone so he can get this app.
