Description:

AT YOUR REQUEST: New Restaurants Added: Pinkberry, California Pizza Kitchen, and Baja Fresh.
THIS IS A FREE APP and contains an Ad at the bottom of the App. We do not have plans to create an App that can be purchased.
WANT A RESTAURANT ADDED?:
Please send the request to info@healthyandfitcommunities.com. Provide the name of the restaurant and the web site location with their nutritional information. We will be adding 2 restaurants each week.
NOTE: Our email address on the apps About page is incorrect. We will fix this mistake in the next release. Use the above email address.
The Restaurant Nutrition application allows a user to easily view nutritional information about restaurant menus and track what they have eaten. Features to be released in the next version can be found at the end of this description.
The Restaurant Nutrition user can turn on diets to track calorie, carb, protein, and fat to help track and quantify their dieting progress. Each time a restaurant name appears in the program the map button near it can be touched to open the Maps application showing all of that restaurant's nearby locations.
Multiple people can track what they eat in this application at the same time by utilizing the concept of profiles. The application can either be setup to connect to the internet, or run as a standalone application saving data entries only to the iPhone. Registered users of Unified Lifestyle Manager will enter their username and password which will tie their username in Restaurant Nutrition to their account on that site. Anytime a meal is entered on the iPhone, it can be transmitted and uploaded to the website and recorded there.
Future Version 1.4 will include an option to sort the list of restaurants so your favorites are at the top. We are also planning on a Canada and United Kingdom version in the future.

Great app, needs some more major chain restaurants.  rating of Restaurant Nutrition
By: iJaycool02008 - Dec 6, 2008
Version: 1.31
This is a great app, very useful. I have only two complaints, on a recent update, the app went crazy and all the restaurants got deleted, however after I reinstalled it, it worked fine. The next complaint is the fact that there are mostly only fast food restaurants such as McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell, Wendy's, and other commonly known fast food places. It would be nice to have places like Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Sushi restaurants, and other restaurants that are better quality than fast food. They update the list frequently so I'm sure it won't be too long before we have those types of restaurants. It's a great free app that I would definitely recommend to anyone, but especially to dieters.

Best calorie app ever!  rating of Restaurant Nutrition
By: Porsche-Fan - Oct 24, 2008
Version: 1.3
I've tried them all. Websites, apps on here and other places. This is amazing. It has all the mainstream places to eat and I am personally going to find more menu information and give it to the authors. This tracks meals and calories and even keeps a diary. This is such a great app it's on my front page now. I'd pay for this app, but they have it for free. I used to be very heavy and because if this I watch everything I eat. This app helps me maintain my health. Thanks for making this!!

Simple, helpful, amazing!  rating of Restaurant Nutrition

I have loved this application since it launched... But I was wishing they'd have jack in the box in the system. But since they update the application regularly with new restaurants & nutrition facts... I couldn't be happier. I never use the food tracking portion of this app... But I love that I can plan my meal BEFORE I go to the restaurant... It makes it very easy to make healthy choices... And it's an eye opener for me. I love the jack in the box Oreo shake... But now that I know it packs 790 calories and a gang of saturated fat... I will be having that MUCH less often! Easily my favorite app on my iPhone. It is very helpful for those who want to lose weight or anyone who is counting calories. Keep it up guys!

Extremely useful  rating of Restaurant Nutrition

This is one of the apps that I use the most. Definitely helps when you are trying to make healthy choices for food. I love it, and it is constanly updating so I know there will be new menu nutrition updates and items. I would like them to update some of the menus since they are no longer the same...example is Moe's Southwestern Grill. Also I would like to know what the serving size is for the items. Overall I LOVE this app!

Love this one  rating of Restaurant Nutrition

I had this one and there were a few resturants that weren't there so I decided to buy one called fast food cal. Thinking that if I paid for one then there would be more. NO! that isn't the case. There was the same ones, maybe one or two that this one didn't have. But this one had a few that that one didn't. So I say get this one. It is awesome don't waste your money on the others. I do know that if a resturant doesn't give out there nutrition info then you can't have them listed. Love this one.

Excellent App!!  rating of Restaurant Nutrition
By: hstrykid - Mar 22, 2009

Very well done. The UI is simple. One minor complaint: adding food to your history wasn't obvious since the "add" button is below the calorie/nutrition info so if you don't scroll down you can't seethe option. Other than that, it seems really useful, especially if they add more restaurants.
Note to the developers: please add Jersey Mike's deli. A national sandwich chain with an online nutrition page easy to add.
Oops, forgot to updated the number of stars. Corrected.

Just what I was looking for  rating of Restaurant Nutrition
By: Theodore J Huff - Aug 1, 2008
Version: 1.1
Before this application, I was constantly using Safari to count calories on the road. While all of the information is available, it is nearly impossible to keep track of all the numbers accurately to do any good using this method.
By allowing you to create 'meals' and having the numbers totaled for you, it makes the process much easier. Also, there is a way to delete items from meals, unlike what was said below: You can find the meal in your history, scroll down to the 'Items Eaten' and swipe from left to right over the item. This brings up the delete button and can then be removed from the chart at the top.
My only requests would be that it tells you the 'Daily Averages' for things like Sodium, Iron, etc and I think it would be excellent if you could have multiple meals for single days. While I try to eat at home at least once a day, sometimes it isn't possible and it would be nice to track both daily and by meal in takes.

Very Nice. Eat out? Use THIS!  rating of Restaurant Nutrition
By: SckooterRhode - Aug 1, 2008

I read the reviews. Not sure what some people are complaining about. I emailed the company - more restaurants are on the way. Be patient. Apple just released the development environment in March! This app and others are sweet! Free also? Man, I think I will gripe about it - heck no. Pat these guys on the back. Apple devices are not perfect and bugs need to be worked out. Keep up the good work! The maps are fantastic. Some people don't realize the is only as good as what the restaurant has given to Google. If the restaurant maps don't work, email the restaurant chain. I noticed they don't work on a PC either when using Google Maps.

A cure for blindly miscounting calories while eating out!  rating of Restaurant Nutrition
By: Justin1414 - Jul 31, 2008
Version: 1.1
While some people mentioned that 'if you were really into health, then you wouldn't eat fast food.' I definitely disagree; sometimes it is the only thing around, especially when you are a college student like myself. There are only about 10 restaurants as of now (July 31, 2008), but since I've gotten this program, the developer has already 2 other restaurants. The only thing that I wish the developer would correct would be how big a quantity size is. For example, if you choose a restaurant, you can add ketchup as a toping, but it is impossible to gauge if the amount you use is one, two or fifty quantities. Of course, being a free application, this is a very minor flaw. ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY FOR EVEN THE CASUAL DIETER!

Awesome application  rating of Restaurant Nutrition

This is an awesome application for people who are maintaining weight or just want to record their calories each day. It is definitely worth downloading! 5 star application.
For the person who couldn't figure out how to delete history.. You click history in the top left hand corner, click the date, then it brings you up statistical data or whatever, if you scroll down it shows all the foods you clocked, click on which food and then press delete from history.
There should be more restaurants that should be added though.

Awesome Resource  rating of Restaurant Nutrition
By: redherring79 - Jul 15, 2008
Version: 1.0
As someone who has recently begun monitoring their nutritional intake closely, I am thrilled to have this resource at my fingertips! Even though I've cut fast food out of my personal eating options, it's difficult to avoid when out with others (or on a trip). With this resource I can go where my friends want to eat and still maintain my healthy eating habits! The updating feature is great and I love that I can customize portions! Plus, having the maps right there make this a must-have app for all eaters on the go.

This App is a lifesaver!  rating of Restaurant Nutrition
By: Yellowcorvette - Jan 19, 2009
Version: 1.31
For anyone on a controlled carb diet, this App is not only incredibly useful at fast-food joints, but by learning how to order low-carb menu items, makes it easier to order at other restaurants. Low and controlled carb diets can be particularly difficult to adhere to and this App clearly lets you know the types of foods you should avoid, and let's you look over alternative items even before you arrive. Updates are almost daily, (and often several times a day) adding new food items and restaurants. This is an App I would pay for, but considering it's FREE, it's priceless!!

Helpful.. but needs some Canadian Restaurants  rating of Restaurant Nutrition
By: Jedmcdunnough - 6-Jan-2009

I was really excited about this app when I got it. My son is Type 1 Diabetic. Most fast food restaurants don't have the printed or posted nutritional information they are supposed to have - so counting his carbs is often a nightmare at these establishments. Enter "Restaurant Nutrition". About half the restaurants in the original download were local, and I would have given it a five but the update loaded me with about 75% unusable content, and that's a high percentage. None the less, It is SO helpful on the 25% I can use I gave it a 4 anyway. If you live in the US, and want a quick, easy, nutritional content guide, I recommend it.

Fantastic App for a Diabetic - Please add Culver's  rating of Restaurant Nutrition
By: D-A-W-G - Jun 23, 2009
Version: 1.32
This is a great app!
I have diabetes and need to be aware of my carbohydrate intake in order to know how much insulin to administer via my insulin pump. The Restaurant Nutrition iPhone application is great and helps me out frequently when travelling and eating at restaurants. I've been using it for almost a year now and would gladly pay $.99-$2.99 for it, with some enhancements.
I would love to see Culver's added, a fast food chain in the Midwest and expanding with over 400 restaurants in 17 states. I dine there frequently and end up doing comparisons with other restaurants, but that method isn't always 100% accurate due to variations. I have offered to help the developers get this information in the correct format on a few occasions using their published email address, but have not heard back from them. Perhaps there is an email glitch, which is why I'm including this in my review.
I would love to see the ability to edit the order of the nutritional components. For me, I would like to move carbohydrates closer to the top of the results page so I don't have to scroll since that is the most important component that I am looking for. I was able to somewhat accomplish this by turning off certain components in the settings. I would also like to see the "I ate this…" links moved to the top as buttons without having to scroll all the way down. The ability to export the data (perhaps to an email message) for those who are not users of thePHRNetwork.com would also be very helpful. Also - fix the spelling errors!
I'm not so sure what other reviewers are concerned about with the serving size as I haven't experienced this as an issue and I use the app several times per week. These are the restaurant-established servings, which will be different for the different chains. Therefore, "1" would mean one of that particular item ordered from that particular restaurant. I'm not sure how difficult that is to understand. I've seen several instances where two different versions (i.e. large vs. small) are identified in the title of the food item. For example, the "Olive Garden Garedn-Fresh Salad (with dressing) - Small" and the "Olive Garden Garedn-Fresh Salad (with dressing) - Large" are both listed. Granted, you must click on the item in order see the full title to see both sizes. Note: Garedn spelling is from the app, not my mistake.
Keep the updates coming!

Great Program but...  rating of Restaurant Nutrition
By: Cyroceon - Oct 6, 2008
Version: 1.3
Accuracy needs to be improved. Quite a few places don't have listings for certain foods and/or the listings are incorrect as per the locations website. Secondly, there are not many places on here. I mean there is Pei Wei but no P.F. Changs, A&W but no White Castle or Krystal, Chilis but no Fridays. See where I'm getting at? The choices of locations represented do not make sense. Plus places like Pizza Hut or Dominos don't have listings.
Besides the two things I ranted about, this program is good, very good. It occasionally crashes but, not enough to turn you off to using it. Get it, it's free and good. If they improve things a little, I'd be willing to pay $2 for it.

Good Start  rating of Restaurant Nutrition
By: JDancy - Jun 21, 2009
Version: 1.32
This program is actually really great. I would have given it 5 stars if there was an option to remove an item from the "What I Ate Today" list. Especially at places like Subway when you're just trying to determine the nutritional facts of a particular sandwich you like, but haven't eaten it yet. Clicking on the food item adds it to your daily list and there's no way to remove it. Hopefully more restaurants will be included sometime in the future. Overall, though, it's really an amazing app.

Great app but some suggestions  rating of Restaurant Nutrition
By: Sumshopper - Jun 12, 2009
Version: 1.32
It would be great if there was a top five lowest cal/ fat/ healthiest items in each restaurant choice that were listed as soon as you open the restaurant. That way, you could quickly pick the restaurant of your choice and then not only get a full menu, but quickly access the top five healthiest choices without having to hunt and find and compare and then try to decide. Also, it would be great to have I-Hop items on the list. I really like having this app. I appreciate it being free! Great job!

GOOD quick 'fast food' guide for Diabetics  rating of Restaurant Nutrition
By: Melensdad - Aug 28, 2008
Version: 1.2
My daughter is a Type 1 Insulin Dependent Diabetic, we have to monitor her carbohydrate intake and inject her with insulin to offset any carbs she eats.
While this program, at least the free version, is weak on tracking and data storage, it does have a reasonably useful carbohydrate listing of many popular fast food eateries. It would be greatly improved if they included more restaurants. STARBUCKS, PANERA BREAD, BENNIGANS, TGI FRIDAYS, OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE and many other national chains are simply missing. If you frequent "fast food" restaurants with Drive-Thru windows then they cover a good number of those, but if you eat at "sit down" casual dining restaurants then this program is sorely lacking. It does have the CHILI'S data, but I believe that is the ONLY sit-down casual dining establishment they have data for currently.
Another improvement they could make is to add some very common foods to their database. If they added a basic food database where you could look up foods, then it would be more helpful when you encounter a new menu item because you could start at the basic food and do some quick calculations to come up with an approximate of the calories, carbs, etc of the prepared food.
While the title of this program is "RESTAURANT NUTRITION" it really should be "FAST FOOD NUTRITION" because it lacks many very common restaurants and seems to focus only on the "fast food" brands.
DESPITE my criticism, I do think this is a useful program. I give it 4 stars because, for what it is, it is pretty good pretty simple. The program has the ability to get updates, and from the time I downloaded and installed it to today they have added several additional restaurants to their data base.

About the advertising ...  rating of Restaurant Nutrition
By: BaldLars - Oct 31, 2009
Version: 1.33
Since there are enough complaints about the ad's - well, maybe the author can offer an "ad-free" version of this app, of course for a fee ... I can not understand how people can complain about something they downloaded for free.
Anyway, as a diabetic I find this app very helpful; and yes, some menu items are not listed, but that's no big deal. I suspect this product will improve with time, as well as positive feedback from users. With that said, my one request is the addition of the "Carb Exchange" index for the menu items - this is for all us diabetics that calculate our insulin injections based on this index.
Thanks

Nice little App  rating of Restaurant Nutrition
By: nikkilen - Mar 21, 2009

Great for weekends, when you just don't know what to grab a bite of while watching your calories/fat. Nice start off listings, was pleased to see Dunkin Donuts as I grab iced coffee regularly. Would love to see a nice update with more variety i.e Applebees, Fridays, Burger King...ect. Also, listing items as they come on the menu instead of individual items would make it easier to use. Subsituting would be awesome too. Overall, a nice application!!
