NOTE: Due to Apple policy, StepTrakLite only runs in the foreground. (iPhone OS disables the accelerometer when the device is locked.) You can play your music by starting your iPod application first. Yes, there are other applications that run with the device locked. They don't require the accelerometer. There is absolutely nothing we can do to fix this problem without violating our developer agreement. Please, no more negative reviews about this limitation -- we would fix it if we could.

Great free app. Does exactly says! By: ArChAnGeLs_FuRy - 30-Jan-2009 Version: 1.2 Easy to use, just start the iPod first, then start this app to record your pace, distance, speed, calories burnt and more. Create an account on mapmywalk.com to track your progress. Perfects for walkers, runners, riders, etc. I Look forward to updates such as: better map integration, route selection from app after walk/run. More accuracy on walk/run detection. More detail info sent to Twitter, Ie. Distance, calories burnt, etc.
Top of the line By: 1moreGator - 21-Jun-2009 Version: 1.2.1 This app is simple, well design, very accurate, and it is free. It is draining the battery faster than watching video, but it still lasted 4 hours on a fresh charge.
Tip: after counting the steps of an activity a few time, you will notice that the steps per hours stay almost the same. Make note of it and use the timer that come with your Itouch the next time you do it. A simple calculation will then give you the number of steps
Excellent app. Motivator: you compete against your previous best. By: Booklover - Apr 16, 2009 Version: 1.2.1 This is a great little FREE app. You folks having trouble getting a read for each step: adjust the settings so that the sensitivity is higher and the classification (what KIND of step you are making) is toward the left, for walking. Bingo. I wish I could keep my daily walking log on the iPhone instead of having to create an online account at MapMyWalk.com. But there is lots of useful stuff at that site, so it works out. I'll never do it, but some folks actually Tweet their latest walk/run stats to their Twitter entourage. Yes, it's all built in.
Very nice By: Pixalz - 17-Nov-2008 Version: 1.1.1 This is a nice app and I use it a lot. Here's some things I'd like to see that would make it even more useful for everyone.
1. Need a distance and calories burned feature. This would be so helpful which can help motivate you towards specific goals each day.
2. The ability to keep a record of your weight loss based on the calories burned each time used. So if you check your logs for the week you can see what your weight could be. This would help you with dedication.
Over all it's great and really hope these features could be considered. So get it cause it's free!

5 Stars to offset the 1 star given by the idiot with the iPod Touch By: Concoction - Oct 12, 2008 Version: 1.0 Criticizing an iPhone app for not working on another device is irrelevant and downright stupid. Even so...the App itself is great, does exactly what it promises to do, and I was surprised at how accurate it is. Hopefully additional features will be added with updates (like a calorie calculator, perhaps?), and of course the ability to listen to music while the App is running would be awesome.
Forget Nike Plus... By: newyorkannie - Oct 5, 2008 Version: 1.0 And get this because it's free, and it's accurate. I was not interested in sports or healthcare, but slowly when I started to show this app to all my friends, I started to get more and more interested. This works for people who don't like to exercise in a gym and breath artificial filtered air (i.e. treadmill or Stairmaster). If you like to get out of the house, and walk in the park or jog outside, then this is the app for you.
Great App if only.... By: Gyyy - 10-Dec-2008 Version: 1.1.1 Pedometer works quite well once the sensitivity walk-run gauge is set to match gait. iPhone should be placed where it does not move independent to body motion for best results. Found this to be in my back pocket preferably snug with a packet of tissue paper.
Would have given it 5 stars if App doesn't crash that often when wifi/3G are on. Data recording only via tweet which require wifi/3G means some frustration.
Great app! By: IrishWahine - Sep 21, 2009 Version: 1.2.1 THe aacuracy for my steps is about as close to perfect as I've found. It doesn't kill my battery after letting it run for hours while walking around at a festival, and does exactly what I need it to: encourage me to track and increase my activity levels. I love the ability to log my walks!! Only reason I gave it a 4: I'd like to see Facebook connectivity (I'm not a Tweeter, sorry!) and an ability to track distance if I enter a stride length. Added bonus would be an estimated calorie burn count. Otherwise this is an awesome app and should be supported to show a demand for well-developed and thought out applications that are FREE! Well done.

Accurate, but lacks distance tracker By: dawntreader42 - May 28, 2009 Version: 1.2.1 It's more accurate than dedicated pedometers I've used, and it's simple. True, the phone locking problem is annoying, but that's up to Apple to allow. Like others, I'd like a distance tracker on the phone. As is, you have to save it to a website and then go calculate distance. Plus, the distance they calculate there is not the same as the distance given by the Google Pedometer tool they provide. I don't know who's in the wrong.

Very Good By: Superkittyreviewer - Oct 25, 2008 Version: 1.0 I'm glad you updated this to work with the iPod Touch. I only have two suggestions, and one question. 1. You could track calories, too 2. You could have goals like other pedometer (like, to burn 200 calories per. day) Also, does StepTrakLite track when you ride a bicycle? I tried it, and every 20 seconds another step was added to the total. Again, thanks for making this for iPod Touch!
lite? By: r o n d a - Sep 19, 2008 Version: 1.0 works great I love it.
but, it's "lite" so... where's the regular version and what does it have?
I don't much like the icon, either.. it's kind of... plain and I dunno how to describe it.
works well and does what it should.
good job... new icon please?
Walker By: daddio48 - Sep 17, 2008 Version: 1.0 Used this app for the time today. Worked well for my needs. Would like to see update for calorie counter, and also history of my walks. Very nice app. Thanks
Worked on a 5.5 mile walk By: AdamCarson - Sep 15, 2008 Version: 1.0 Works great, super accurate at detecting strides. Needs a confirm reset screen, and the ability to enter your stride and get a distance reading. Great app right down to the icon.
Works after changing settings By: triwannabe - Sep 14, 2008 Version: 1.0 After fooling around with the settings I got it to pretty accurate. How can you argue with free? Good start.
Does what is says on the tin By: narang99 - 13-Dec-2008 Version: 1.1.1 A must have!
Yea By: Remy Leibow - Oct 25, 2009 Version: 1.2.1 I highly recommend this to everyone! Works accurately and the price is unbeatable.
