I wasn't that thrilled about the app before but after the update the landscape keyboard and the font changing made it so much better. I'm glad the created listens to what the reviewers say! I like this app but I think it would be better if we could add pictures and be able to change the color of our writings. Another cool thing would be different font options. Thanks for the last great update. Hope u do more in the future.

Sweet app. I used to have to resort to pen n paper diary entrys, which were scrappy n always had the risk of either getting lost or thrown out. Now I can jot something down on the move wherever I am. Good to have a security feature. Also, to those who say you can't go back to a previous day to make an entry do this: Press the plus button to make an entry, then press on the date above where you write, then you can change the date n time of entry. This can be done for past entrys also. I like how I can just exit the app n it still save what I wrote up to that point. Simple n easy to use, well worth the 59p!

There are errors in others reviews:
You can input entries for other date/time, you just click the date and edit.
You can delete entries.
You can change text size.
All in all really good, especially like the landscape ability which speeds up entry.
Highly recommended to anyone that wants to keep a quick entry diary.
Unlike others i am not at all interested in photo input or GPS or anything, this to me is a great replacement to a paper based Diary.

Having kept a diary for over 20 years, I like to be able to make notes whenever I am away from my Mac, on holiday for example, and the only way to do so is with a pen and note paper. This handy app makes keeping a mobile diary very easy. It would be nice to be able to email more than one entry and perhaps have a summary of all entries, but these minor gripes aside, this is an excellent utility for diarists.

This is an excellent application. It does exactly what I need it to do.
I do think that some people need to get familliar with the application before commenting. Firstly, to change the date, ie. if u want to write in a past date, u simply tap the date when ur writing.
Secondly, it is possible to delete entries, this is simply swiping your to the left over he entry needed to be deleted.

For 59p (UK) this works just fine. I wanted an app that would let me record work tasks for the dreaded quarterly appraisals. This is straightforward to use and the ability to email any month's entries makes it easy for me to transfer the records where I want them. The date of an entry can be set by clicking the date at the top of the screen, however many people don't seem to realise this as it is not obvious, and is also a bit fiddly (Previous and Next day buttons would be nice). Security is not really an issue, if you want it secure, secure your iPhone. Better still don't leave your iPhone where it is likely to get stolen! As to all the day-dreaming feature requests in other reviews, no doubt the developers will get round to some enhancements. Amazing what some people expect for 59p!

This app is a really good and easy way to keep a diary! I havnt really kept a diary b4 but now I do and it's great! But here's some ideas to make it even better...you should be able to choose the diary you write in like which book (a choice of covers for the book in which your diary is kept, it would also be really go if you could change font colour and style. If you are just Reading a diary I would be good if It was like reading a book ie turning the pages. Also the option to add photos would be great! BUT OVERALL GREAT!!! thanks

I couldn't make up my mind between 'MyDiary' & 'NanoDiary' (both 59p - which my hubby couldn't stand my dithering beween the two - so I did download the both just to see the difference) - and I gotta say this one beats NanoDiary hands down, as you can email your diary notes out on this one and by the looks of it edit / email out from previous / forward months also - and the front page also has that nice diary feel to it.... but you can't email out from NanaoDiary so what's the point of keeping a diary by clogging up your phone when you can email your notes and keep on your PC - hey and I don't write diaries but I want to give it a go for 2009 so I'll try to persevere .... great app for 59p - get it :-)

Good app I don't agree with that delete thing cuz it's a diary who erases stuff from a diary but yea it needs different fonts and sizes and makin it look like actual paper would be cool and at 1st screen instead of "my diary" show a diary with lock and when successful the diary opens also sometimes I wanna insert pictures next to a word like girlfriend with a heart next to it or just somethin i took a picture of yea thanks =]

Never having kept a diary before, I've seen this and thought as I can't keep off my phone anyway, here's something else to keep me occupied :). Password protection is.. Well, it works good. As long as you don't leave the app open, noone can change the passcode. Makes sense to me but can be improved as has been said. Typing now has landscape mode which is great if you feel the need. Can't select individual dates for past entries you've perhaps missed which isn't great and hope can be implemented :) also ability to delete entries... If not done already?(sorry haven't checked!doh). Overall though I'm loving it.. Thank you!!

I am not one for doing a diary, I find this application great. It is easy to jot down points at any time of the day. It is so handy to have this on ones i-phone. I love the fact that I can e-mail my last months entries. the only improvement I can think of is being able to e-mail more then just the last months entries....... maybe one could specify the last week or all the entries etc.

CREATOR SAID HE WOULD UPDATE THIS APP WITH A "LOCKER/PASSWORD" PROTECTION AND HE DID AS PROMISED (SEE BELOW). I LOVE THIS APP AND USE IT DAILY TO TAKE DOWN PERSONAL THOUGHTS AND IDEAS ABOUT WORK. ITS WORTH EVER PENNY!!
I would like nothing more than to keep a personal diary on my iphone, but like most of you know...everyone wants to see your iPhone and mess with it. So to have such personal info so easy to be seen a password protection is a MUST for this APP. The other MUST have is some type of back up / email / or upload option to Mobileme. With that said, I emailed "My Diary, Inc" and this was the reply to my requests...
"indeed the password is an very important function, I'm working on the locker feature which will be release in the next update,and the backup/restore function is also whats keeping me busy"
So I believe you can feel safe that if you start your diary now, your personal thoughts will be password protected with his next update. So lets support this guy by showing our interest now and paying the small price of $0.99.

Jot down random thoughts anytime. Keep track of fleeting events. The automatic date stamp and your own comments allow you to figure out where you were later on. As it piggybacks on the iPod Touch (and iPhone) system of typing corrections, you can type in your ideas and thoughts pretty quickly. A way to put photos into an entry would be nice. (I'd move up from the Touch to the iPhone for that!) A suggestion: some way to show the entries for the same date for the year of that date, a year before that and two years before. This way, you can see where you've been over the three years. I have a journal that has listings for the years (5 on this case) for same date on the same page. It has made for interesting reading! Additional note. I travel a lot across time zones. I find that the time stamp on already created entries changes when the iPod/iPhone time zone is changed. Please make it so that complete notes' time stamps become hard coded. I just came back from Zurich to New York. My last note reads something like: "Just had great dinner" and the time stamp is 2 pm.

This app is pretty good, with the ability to have password protection by going to actions and choosing the password option. I don't like that it doesn't have automatic capitalization when you start a new sentence (I'm iPhone spoiled with Notes i guess). Otherwise can delete old entries since when you add to an entry at least one minute later it makes it a new entry altogether. The Color tags are turned off by repressing the tag button on the bottom of the app. Overall very strong, and considering that its only 99 cents, well worth the price.

I had been using this app quite happily until the latest update. Like so many others, I was very upset when I lost my past entries. I contacted the developer who was very responsive and explained want to do. I tried it and it worked perfectly! Here is what he said...
1. About the color tag, sorry about the confusion,
    please try to re-tap the color you've selected and the rest of un-tagged diary entries will show up again,
    if you want to modify the color tag on single entry,
    tap on the tag icon in edit-view, and retap the color you have selected then this entry will be  untagged again,
    if you want to change the color just tap on other color in edit view.
    However, we will refine the user interface to make it more friendly in the next update.
2. Auto-cap issue will be fixed in the next minor update together with all the other defects.
3. The photo feature has been suggested by other users and we already put it in the wish list.
This is a great little app!

I brought this app when it first came out. Then I deleted it, thinking it was worthless and confusing. Since then I have been using the predownloaded app "notes". While this worked; I must say it wasn't nearly as convenient as this with the new update. Anyways, when I redownloaded this app I discovered that it was perfect for my needs. My only complaints are that I think you should be able to choose between viewing entries by month or as a list. But the password protection was a stroke of genius! Kudos to the makers.

It's worth saying again that my iPhone is one of the best purchases I had in a while. And next to the iPhone is this app "My Diary". I have been using this app ever since I purchased it on April 1 this year. It has been 4 months now and I am still using it on a daily basis without missed. It keeps me focused and organized. Every year as long as I can remember, I buy a Journal book or a diary or an organizer. I use it on the first few days or weeks then I forget all about it. I have a file of unfilled journal book since I was in grade school. But this app is handy and always with me. I can write my thoughts, my plans, my goals, my failures, my succes etc. I can write on it anywhere and anytime I am free. Like during my break at work, my lunch. It also keeps me busy whenever I am waiting in a long line like in the bank, at the DMV, doctors office or in a restaurant. It's a lot better than communifaking. Communifaking is pretending to be talking on the cell phone so people around them think they are busy or important person. This is one of my actual entries in "My Diary". I wrote this on July 20, 2009 at 11am while I was in a restaurant waiting for my lunch. I decided to copy and paste it here as my review. This is my way of appreciation on a great app like this. Pardon my bad English and my grammar.

I really love this app and I use it everyday. The recent update had me terrified at first though because I hit the "Tag" feature, clicked on a color to see what it did and then all of a sudden I thought all my entries were deleted. Although I was very upset at this, I was glad that I back up all my entries at least at the end of each month. Still, I thought they ruined what used to be a great little app. I was about to delete it, then thought of trying one last thing before giving up hope. I clicked on the "Tag" icon and double clicked on the first color on the left and all my entries are back. Well, at least I now know what the "Tag" icon does. =) I am so relieved and this is still an app I will continue to use daily. I really love the idea that I can send all my entries to my e-mail address for back up purposes. I'm not sure how the new back up feature works, but I'm going to play around with it and see what the new improvements have done. This is a fantastic app if you are looking for a simple, easy to use note taking app or daily diary. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great value. Tech support is also fantastic. I asked a couple questions and received a reply the same day. I am using this with the new 3.0 software and no problems.

Wow. This app is just so good. Firstly -- to those looking for Delete: yes, you can delete, just do a leftwards stroke across an entry to bring up the Delete button, as you do in Mail. And secondly -- well, I simply love using My Diary! The developers have actually managed to make the app feel exactly like a paper diary. I can almost smell the parchment. To anyone that loves keeping a personal journal (but doesn't want images & other guff -- this is strictly for those who love to write), then this is your app. And scalable fonts? I am in awe. Why can't other apps do the same?! My Diary is absolutely brilliant in every aspect.

I find myself using it several times a day as it is so convinient to have a journal with a phone. Well finished product without frills. It is stable and reliable. Password protection and easy data entry with landscape mode keyboard strengthen a functional minimalistic interface. Time stamped data entry with search function helps located past entries. Delete entries efficiently by swiping over title in content view screen. Change font size in the iPhone tradition of pinch the screen. Home button "press to exit" and reinstate the password in a stylish roller wheel interface. Consider the unconventional but intuitively realistic backup via email as well considered ergonomy of global access. Send your diary entries as backup to the web based email. Have it neatly filed in a separate folder. In future access it from any Internet point in the world including safari on your iPhone, particularly after a third party product crashes and erased your system. In the phylosophy of the iPhone: this software production is functionally elegant. It does what it's supposed to and simply does it well.
