Very useful app for doctors By: Djnwong - 16-Nov-2008 Version: 10 I'm a doctor working in a North London hospital and use this app very frequently. It's very handy and quite accurate. I suspect there might be some mistakes here and there which I haven't fully uncovered but I always have a high level of suspicion with any program or algorithm I use so that's fine. The author is very responsive and provides frequent updates, which is brilliant! Very helpful tool to help with day-to-day clinical decision-making. But remember, it's a tool, not a replacement for active thinking.
Another medical app! keep them coming!!! By: G )))) - Feb 18, 2009 Version: 16 I had used med calcs on my Palm for more than 5 years. It's great to see one for the iPhone! UPDATE. There was an error calculating post-test probability. I emailed the developer, he answered promptly and the new update fixed the problem. And before that, there was an error with the Apgar score that it's been fixed, too. Great service!! Hope there are more evidence based medicine calculations in future updates.
Excellent Clinical Calculator By: LibertyT2G - Jan 28, 2009 Version: 15 I have been using various Palm PDAs over the past 8 years and regularly used MedMath and Medcalc for work in a hospital. This is a great program (having used it only a couple weeks thus far). There is so much information in it. Not only are there many types of calculations, but also dermatomes, opiod conversions, iv drip rates, lab reference values, SIRS, Ranson, etc. types of critical care criteria, etc. Very handy to have with you anytime.
nicely done! By: drrich - Sep 8, 2008 Version: 1.0.3 Needs some work though... Would recommend checking out other med calcs, like the one on epocrates, for example, and adding those equations. Some equations I use a lot, such as Cr clearance, I couldn't find. Otherwise, very nice interface, very intuitive and easy to use! Good job!!! Update: nice updates! have been using it for about two weeks now and its fantastic! thanks again for the good work! This guys just keeps on adding more and more equations and making it better each time! keep up the strong work!
Fantastic application that continues to improve By: ftpenney - Sep 6, 2008 Version: 1.0.3 This application definitely filled the "void" between my iPhone and my palm. I still need a good infectious disease reference (for when there's not a resident handy with a copy of Sanford in their pocket...), but between this and Epocrates I probably have what I need 95% of the time. This application is *much* more full featured than any other current medical calculator program on the iPhone, and more features than the app I had on my palm. There are lots of free and/or $0.99 apps on iTunes that perform only one function. For a few bucks more, you get the features of almost every other medical calculator in the iTunes store in one place, plus a lot more. ABG does have a few features not (yet?) in this app. The program "Medical Calculator" has one or two functions not available here (though, for me, they're not particularly common requirements). The programs I have tried have all been great, but this one suits my needs the best and was well worth the money.
Great Program By: Dr Emerg Med - Aug 31, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 I was very happy to find this program. It definitely is a great aid in the hospital. The author of this program is very responsive to suggestions and is quick to update his program. One of the best little pearls about this program is that he also includes the original reference under the info tab for each equation...so you can always reference that if you need more information about that specific equation or its applicability. This is the best medical calculator to come out so far for iPhone.
Great add on for iPhone users in medical field By: Bubbaloo26 - Aug 21, 2008 Version: 1.0 Remember why the only reason you didn't buy an iPhone and still carried around a stupid PDA while on the wards? Well those days are gone. With the combo of the free epocrates and the addition of Mediquations, you are all set as a med student, intern, resident, anyone! The interface is great and it has so many useful calculations. One thing I really like is that is shows the calculation, because if your attending asks, "Well what's the formula?" you can respond and look like a star. Download it now.
Works great, no more Palm! By: docd9 - Aug 17, 2008 Version: 1.0 This application is what I've been waiting for on the iPhone. Having used MedMath and MedCalc on the Palm, I was missing a good medical calculator. This can be set easily for US units (in the iPhone settings screen). So far, what calculations I've needed have been there, and this program adds even more. For example, with BMI calculator, you also get body surface area. With corrected phenytoin for serum albumin, there is an additional tab to press if creatinine clearance is <20. Highly recommended.
Useful and practical By: Juviraj - 17-Aug-2008 Version: 1.0 This has to be the most useful medical app besides Epocrates to come out for the iphone so far... well for day to day use, MIMs looked great but using this regularly. Luv it. Handy and easy to use, with some explanations, been using the wells criteria, the fluid maintanence for children and a few others today. Potential to add more formulas, but I assume the developer will be adding to it. Definitely worth the money from all of the medical apps to download.
Great app By: epoxide - 2-Sep-2008 Version: 1.0.2 This is a great app and well worth the money! The list of equations keeps growing with each new update and the developer is open to suggestions for adding more. It is developed by a medical student which means he/she is using this app himself/herself and has a personal interest in the quality/accuracy of the app. I also appreciate the inclusion of SI units since I am in Canada. Overall, one of the most useful apps on my iPhone. Keep up the good work!
Great but room for improvements By: j7david - 22-Aug-2008 Version: 1.0.1 (v.1.0.1 reviewed) Works well, quick and easy to use. Quick email replies from developer with queries I had before purchasing the app. Some room for improvements (I've sent several suggestions by email - 'clear' button on data entry screen, still have to do some calcs in head for QTc) but overall a great app. Not as quite good as MedCalc was on Palm - but getting there, and I hear there's an update in the works soon.
PREGNANCY CALCULATOR IS WRONG By: AMiTdoc2b - Sep 7, 2008 Version: 1.0.3 I like this application, and have had no problems with it other than the Pregnancy Calculator. When you enter the expected due date, the number of weeks she is pregnant as of today's date is incorrect. For example, if you enter an expected due date of March 1st 2009, the woman should be about 14+ weeks pregnant as of September 6th according to an OB-wheel.. however, according to this program, she is only 12+ weeks pregnant. Thats a huge difference and I think it needs to be fixed. Can the creator of this application please fix this in an update? Otherwise its an amazing application!! Thanks!!
Nice start By: SLCDoc - Aug 16, 2008 Version: 1.0 Very nice start to a much needed app for the iPhone. Now my iPhone is as useful as my old Treo was. I like the option to choose SI vs. US units in settings, but maybe having it in the app itself would be easier. At first I didn't like having to go to a different screen to enter values, but it is so quick it is not a big deal. Would be nice to be able to "back calculate" - meaning: enter the answer and and a few of the values to see what the missing value would be. Otherwise nice work.
Good start to a much needed app in a surprisingly empty niche By: DocReader - Aug 16, 2008 Version: 1.0 I'm relieved to have a medical calculator now for my iPhone. This puts me one more step closer to ditching my Palm once and for all. Good breadth of equations to choose from. I would really rate this 3.5 stars, but 1) can't, and 2) hope that 4 stars will encourage people to purchase and thereby encourage developers to use proceeds for enhancements, such as: a. Ability to select English or metric units, either as a pref or within each calculation (in which case the last selection should be saved)--using BMI as an example, currently can only enter kg and cm, but "More info" displays equations in both metric and English versions; b. Ability to reorder equations so that ones I use frequently can be placed on top, since I won't use roughly 37 of the 40--currently are sorted alphabetically; c. More equations--the ones I'd most like to see added are dosing calculators, for pills (X mg/kg/day divided q Y hours = Z mg/kg/dose) and liquids (X mg/kg/day divided q Y hours for a liquid concentration of A mg per B mL = Z mL/dose), and again the units should be selectable (g, mg, mcg, etc)--see MedTools for other platforms for a great example. I'm sure others will have more suggestions. Overall, a very admirable start and a highly welcome addition!
Excellent By: chilledmonkeybrains - 17-May-2009 Version: 17.1 A brilliant app that's never left my iPhone. Incredibly useful and the developer is very responsive to requests for new equations. A bargain and faultless
Excellent By: Redshift27 - 05-Feb-2009 Version: 15 A most practical set of calculators. Well worth the price.
Dr By: Cubjohn - 02-Dec-2008 Version: 11 Excellent app with frequent updates.
Highly useful and rapidly evolving By: wefferson - 17-Nov-2008 Version: 10 Well worth the money - this attractively-designed gizmo comes in very useful on the wards on a near daily basis. And the developer, an American med student, is friendly and very quick to respond to suggestions for new equations or to fix any bugs you might come across. I would highly recommend this app.

Few problems By: Ahmad Kharuddin - 29-Oct-2008 Version: 8 It's amazing but few problems I have noticed are that in TIMI Score or GCS Score, the total score is not displayed correctly... could you fix this please? Many thanx!
