Surprised, a bit more robust than Epocrates... By: duranNP - Sep 6, 2009 Version: 1.0 Didn't know what to expect here, after getting used to and using Epocrates everyday. I'm finding by using them side-by-side, Medscape is quicker and friendlier to my needs. I enjoy having the extra bit of information offered in the Medscape files, including a few more drug options, information and categories. The CME options are a great option, especially if you are on the go. Being able to keep up with medical news according to your speciality is another plus. Try this one! You will not be disappointed.
A great application By: Zofmui - Sep 2, 2009 Version: 1.0 I use this while rounding on my patients. I prefer it to ePocrates for medications as it provides the information more logically and provides information that is more useful to me than ePocrates. And it's free to boot! It does not, however, include diagnosis and management of disease. But I'll be someday there will be such an application from Medscape. I look forward to it and then I may let me ePocrates expire at that point. You won't be disappointed in this application if you are a medical professional.
Friggin great By: Javagamal - Aug 24, 2009 Version: 1.0 Its quicker, easier to use, and more functional than Epocrates by far! The ability to save drugs you look up on a cheat sheet makes it even faster. The directory is amazing too. You can look up all 24 hr pharmacies in a zip code and get their addresses and phone numbers. Big, big help. Nice to save a directory of local specialists too. I am really really impressed and will be using this all the time now!
Great First Attempt! Keep up the innovation! By: YLamica - Aug 21, 2009 Version: 1.0 This new app is fantastic. I found it really helpful! As a mother, I especially liked the drug interaction section as it is a lot more detailed and comprehensive than some online portals and I can use it on the go. I think it is a great tool the medical community because especially folks who are too busy to catch up on their continuing medical education. This is the first attempt by a great company and it will only get better. Keep up the innovation!
Detailed Drug Information By: Tasnim12 - Aug 11, 2009 Version: 1.0 This is a wonderful free application which gives you acess to detailed drug information such as dosing, adverse effects, and cost information. The drug interaction infromation is robust, useful, and easy to use. I also enjoy reading news on the application and being able to customize news by specialty. I haven't used the CME feature yet but I'm looking forward to using it. Without a doubt this will be a frequently used application on my iPhone.
This is my go to app for meds (and more!) By: Serene_Lee - Nov 16, 2009 Version: 1.1 I have been a long time user of epocrates. I find this to load faster and is more stable. It includes herbals and OTC's free of charge. It gives a better breakdown of adverse events (eg >10%, 1-10%, serious adverse events). Dosing is by indication, but includes off-label use. I also use this app to help find a pharmacy number (especially useful when covering on the weekend, and the patient only knows the pharmacy name and approximate location). I've also used it to locate a physician phone # or address. Epocrates, however, has the advantage of including formularies. It therefore, is more accurate in terms of assisting patients with cost info. Other neat advantages of epocrates are the pill pictures, and pill finder. WebMD also has, like the website, the latest medical news broken down by specialty, as well as CME. I highly recommend this app!
Resist buying Mosby/Davis By: Saaronb - Nov 5, 2009 Version: 1.1 This free application is so, so, so much better than Epocrates in that it doesn't try to tease you all the time with features you don't want to pay for, nor does it bombard you with those bothersome articles/notifications. But more importantly, it has the cleanest & best UI of ANY drug guide out the. You can even "favorite" drugs you look at regularly-irregularly if that makes any sence. It was a relief to finally find something acceptable (I have owned & discarded all other names mentioned). It is one of those rare occasions when the superior application is the free one.
Ah, finally Medscape on Mobile - the wait is over ... By: RoamsTheGlobe - Jul 24, 2009 Version: 1.0 I have been a Medscape.com user user since a long time. My day usually starts with looking at medscape.com, reference information, articles, drug search. Its content is pretty rich and accurate. I hate carrying a laptop around, and on the move, when I need access to Medscape for Physician or Pharma directory, I generally have to look for places offering internet. With IPhone 2nd gen, it made my life so easy, and the only thing which was missing a Medscape avatar on my IPhone. And here it is. And it available offline thats the best part. Another - physician and pharmacy finder by proximity - very helpful. I give this app a 10 on 10. Great going Medscape engineers!

I LOVE this app!!!! By: RNmom2009 - Oct 2, 2009 Version: 1.0 This app is easy to use and so incredibly useful!! I am a home health nurse who already loves my iPhone because I can keep all my info in one place. In the home care setting this app keeps me from having to carry reference books around. Also, the info is up to date. I especially love the ability to plug in all my patients medications to look for potential interactions; I used to wait to do it at home on my computer, but now I can get the info right away- especially useful if the patient just starts a new med!!! The articles are also great; current information every day on different specialties that you choose - great again that it is all right at my fingertips!! ANY HEATHCARE PROFESSIONAL WILL BENEFIT FROM THIS APP!!!

Great for keeping up with news! By: Doctorpi - Dec 6, 2009 Version: 1.1 I'm a family practice resident and find this app quite usefull. It's great for getting updates on medical research at it's very practical. You can pick which 5 specialties interest you the most. And the articles are written in a very quickly readable way. I don't use dug interaction because I have a subscription to the full epocrates, but if I didn't, I likely would. I recommend this to any and all doctors and med students our there.
Not as good as Epocrates By: reductant - Dec 4, 2009 Version: 1.1 I've been doing side by side comparisons of drugs in Medscape and Epocrates, and Epocrates is generally a better product. It provides more complete information about the drugs and presents the information in a much more readable way (boxes and bullet points as opposed to Medscape's jumbled paragraphs). They run about the same speed for me (3G ipod). The only advantage Medscape has is the ability to save favorite drugs.

Medscape By: Bottman1 - Dec 3, 2009 Version: 1.1 I find this application very helpful. As an orthopaedic surgeon working in a clinical setting that requires medication reconciliation with each patient (military) that I see, I use the app regularly to check on my patients meds. It is quick and accurate. One piece of information that would be very helpful to include would be "how supplied" i.e what strengths of tablets and/or capsules are available, what concentrations of liquids are available. May this could be added to future updates.
A very useful application. Has everything I need By: Adisat - Jul 27, 2009 Version: 1.0 I use the Medscape site very frequently for it has the best medical information. Just last week I got a IPhone, so naturally I downloaded the Medscape IPhone App when I came to know about it. The app is simple to use and has all the features that I've been looking for! The topic based news, CME and drug interaction checker...and ability to save them for future reference (especially when there's no network) is very handy. I'm keeping it :-)
Does its job quite well By: cranky ER doc - Nov 11, 2009 Version: 1.1 This program is a great drug database. Here are the superiorities it has over ePocrates: 1) Searchable keyboard. No scrolling through tons of names. 2) There's no annoying step where you have to choose between the generic name or the brand name 3) Loads VERY fast. 4) Good CME links. Cons are that the drug info is a little less comprehensive than ePocrates, but what's there is a lot more user friendly. There is no disease database as in the deluxe epocrates, but for a free app it's great. Also - there is NO WEB CONNECTION REQUIREMENT. That is huge in a busy hospital.
Quick and Free, different from ePocrates By: GI_Doc - Nov 4, 2009 Version: 1.1 Medscape is faster than ePocrates, which makes a big difference when seeing patients. Information somewhat different but it's fine. I find it harder to view lists in paragraph form (Medscape) than when in list form (ePocrates), and Medscape is not linked to DrFirst Rcopia, the ePrescribing program I use and love (if not for these reasons, I would have given Medscape 5 stars). But if I have to just look up something quickly on my iPhone, I find I go to Medscape because it's just faster.
Everything a doctor needs By: Everything a doctor needs - Jul 24, 2009 Version: 1.0 Imagine being able to address medical concerns on drug interactions, refer a specialist, keep up with recent medical news - as well as keep up with your med ed credits - all from a device that fits in your pocket? Medscape for the iphone let's you do this and more! It's not always easy to get around - using the drug interaction tool is not exactly straightforward - this is a comprehensive program and a must have for anyone in a medical field. Hope they add some emedicine content in the next version!
