Introducing myDictation, the application that turns your iPhone into the best voice recorder and dictation system on the planet. The myDictation application is full featured and allows the user to record any number of voice recordings or dictations and store them on your iPhone. When ready, with a single click, you can upload them wirelessly using either a Wi-Fi or cellular connection to the myDictation server for transcription by your existing transcriptionist. The myDictation application is free to download and use for voice recording for anyone. In order to securely upload the dictations, an account is required on the myDictation server (www.mydictation.com). The myDictation server allows your existing transcriptionist to download recordings and upload completed transcriptions for retrieval by you from anywhere on the Internet using only a web browser. All uploading and downloading is handled in a secure HIPAA compliant fashion.

Great for house hunting!

This app is perfect for our house search- when you should be looking around & not writing. Only free app I found that you can change file type to mp3 and has adjustable quality level to help save space. At 16, these mp3s are really clear and loud. So far, no time or file size limits like another free recorder I tried. I love the ability to visually skip around the recordings. Also, it is awesome that you can pause during recording & pick up where you left off, even go back and cut out any parts right from the phone! Not all recorders are equal, this one clearly is a cut above the apps I've tried.
I have used the free web server option to download the files in .wav to the laptop for a backup. My data isn't sensitive, so I don't require the secure access offered.
Easy & fast to name and rename files. Fast loading even with an afternoon full of recordings. The battery consumption was also less than expected; I still had half charge on my iPhone. Can't believe it is free! Thanks for a great app.
Great HIPAA compliant solution!

This is a great solution for my docs doing dictaiton. Certainly better than sending the dictaiton files via email. Having a safe upload and download location that the doc's can easily upload from their iPHONE (!!!!) is fantastic. I'm getting all my doctors with iPhones on this!
UPDATE- I saw that someone was conserned about the monthly fee. It is stated on the page that there is a fee for uploading your files to a SECURE HIPAA compliant server. I guess if your practice just emails your dictation to your transcriptionist for processing...I first of all wouldn't want to be your office manager, so I would NOT have to deal with HIPAA violations. NOr would i want to be one of your patient, I would want my PHI to be just that ...PROTECTED.
A great way to receive dictation

My doctor started using this for his dictation and it is a great way to receive my transcription. I download the secure files easily and the quality is excellent!! I used to receive tapes and they would break or sometimes be erased, not now. Then, on digital dictation the doctors sometimes take the dictaphone home which would delay me in getting my work thus delay them in receiving the work. Now that it is on the iPhone, which they always have on them, I always get my dictation on time.
Unbelievable app for physicians

This app is just what I needed. I was about to buy a digital dictation system, but this has everything I need - a great recorder and secure wireless uploading. This means that I can dictate from anywhere, office, home, or in between or cases and send my transcription wirelessly which makes my life more flexible. They don't tell you about the $20 per month server fee, but this is a drop in the bucket compared to how much I spend on dictation every month and is well worth the convenience. Those people giving it one star rating obviously are not physicians and can't see the value of this app.
A real time saver

This application will save a lot of time dictating office notes. The macros alone make the application worth the money. We like the flexibility of being able to finish up dictating notes without carrying anything other than the phone. The ability to upload completed recordings SECURELY will make the HIPAA people happy, and our transcriptions will be better organized.
The interface is clean and intuitive, and the feature of being able to easily edit clips in and out of the dictation is tremendous.
Everybody in our office will be using this app, hopefully.

I love it, please make it more advance. So when we down load the voice in to york server we should be auditing we more advance tools+ adding pictures. I hunestly I'm willing to pay one time registration fee and you can wall 20, 30, 50 or up to 100mb storage so when do not to worry if i'm out of country and I lost or Brocken my 3g iphone what I'm going to do. Just logging to my accout from any where in the world and show my job or project. That would be excellent.
NOTE: Do you invester to work on this and make it one of a kind product. By trade I'm network engineer (WAN - Wide Area Network).

myDictation stands head and shoulders above the other bargain voice recorders due to its comprehensive editing abilities. If you only want to record and play back, most any will do. But if you want to edit, then this is the one to get. To get one with comparable editing capabilities, you'll have to pay $2.99 or even much more.
Of course the recording and playback are excellent on this, but it does much more!
Try the voice macros, which are handy for students and professionals alike. See the visual waveform of your recording, a great tool when playing or editing.
NOTE: To use the recording, editing and playback of this app, there is no need to register, or give them credit card info. That may be necessary to use their transcription services, but I have no use for that.
I have't tried to transfer my recordings off my iPod Touch 2G/3.12, so I I'll have to tell you about that later.
For now, trust me that you should try this yourself!

It is exceptionally good app. It only costs to use their server, however, you can download your files direct to your pc using your own browser. The app tells you how to do this, so why the moans? Than any dedicated recorder I have ever used. But need a zoom function on the wave form for more accurate selection of sections to crop out.
